this topic bothers me too.
seeing the truth about the truuf is devastating. its not only that you lose your family and friends... no, no, no. your whole view of the world collaps. what can you believe? you suddenly feel that youve never learned to cope with death! what if you never see your loved ones again? never?! cruel... ive never learned to live with that. its a hard lesson to see this possibility.
actually i hope the bible IS right and its gods word. its a tough problem. i dont feel like going out searching for other religions or something. maybe there is NO current "true" religion. or its really a personal relationsship between you and jesus only. if youve been betrayed by a religion its hard to trust again.
i can understand ppl who dont wanna hear anything critic about the WTS... its just too hard to fall out of that dream.
i was thinking about that too. just drop the doubts and return. if its a lie i wont never realize it and until then i would have a hope and i dont have to learn without being wrapped up in pillows.

I finally understand...
by sinis inthat if we were immortal we would not have religion.
religion is a vehicle that tries to explain the unexplainable within our limited mortal lives.

Disfellowshipping
by sexyk in"thus you nullify the word of god for the sake of your tradition.......their teachings are but rules made by man- matthew 15-;6,9- new international version.. in the book crisis of conscience, ray franz explained his viewpoints on matters to the rest of the governing body members.
he did not believe it was up to them (the governing body) to decide what the brothers and sisters did.
rather, he beleived that god is the one who "lets" them do certain things, either because his word approves it or because it is silent on the matter, and that god alone prohibits, when his world clearly condemns the action, either explicity or by clear principle.

Why they won't try again...
by besty ini have spoken to two jw's today's who are well acquainted with my non-conformist stand and absence from the meetings.
much difference in their readjustment approach <emotional v logical> but they shared this in common: .
they both explicitly refused my invitation to pursue the conversation to another session - both said they saw no basis for 'getting anywhere' and didn't see the point of endless conversations...i accept that but also think... .

JWs are told over and over again not to discuss. A JW **Discussion** Forum like this is apostate per definition. JWs dont discuss, they swallow and learn to swallow better. when JWs 'discuss' they talk about new swallowing technics.

as long as he is not disfellowshipped and being together with him has no sexual part everything is fine ;) otherwise JWs werent allowed to go from door to door, because of all that nasty sinners.
edit: but its not recommended of course. its a kind of bad company. -

Are ex-JW still gullible or serpent-like?
by BEROEAN injust wondering if ex-jws find it hard to trust others since their bad experience or are they still gullble souls?
just wondering because some of the stories i read about past experiences are off the charts!
some of you, your childhoods, your parents are seriously jacked up!

DID YOU DEDICATE YOURSELF BEFORE BAPTISM OR DID YOU LIE?
by free2think ini was just wondering when you where going through the questions for baptism did you know you had to dedicate yourself to jehovah before hand or did you lie?.
i didn't know i had to so when i went through the questions i had to lie and say i had.
i always felt bad about it afterwards and quickly did a little prayer that night.

i dedicated me several times 'cos it never felt appopriate... not sacred enough... me on a chair (i used it as some kind of altar lol) in my room at the age of 14.
additionally i had a big problem with my raging hormones back then. praying a life dedication and doing the wrong, wrong, wrong within the next 24hours didnt felt right to me. i managed to be abstinent for a long period before baptism which costed all my strength but got weak again 2 days before baptism. i felt so sick on that day getting baptized. ive a recording of my baptism talk but i NEVER listened to it. i have almost only bad feelings about that day.
BUT, i had dedicated myself.
i always wondered why you can be dfed when you NEVER dedicated yourself in the first place. when the elders try to shun someone he could lie and say he wasnt never dedicated. lol. would be chaos :D -

To hell with weither jesus existed what about david and solomon?
by 5go inif there was no david, and no solomon why was there to be a messiah to be the heir to their empire that never existed.. .

i dont think they were fictional and in fact i doubt the sources you posted highly.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David#Historicity_of_David
if you believe the wikipedia there actually ARE archilogical evidences which support davids existence.
whether his life was exactly like described in the bible is another thing, but i believe he existed. i also believe jesus existed. -

Since we're on the topics of the Assemblies...
by forsharry inquestion.
i'm not sure if this has ever been brought up before (probably has) but something just occurred to me...why were there always dubs guarding the donation boxes outside out of the conventions (in the hallways.)?
i mean i know the obvious reason behind it...very north korea-esque if you ask me, but we were told over and over just how special and christian and different we were from the world.... i'm looking for your theories on this.

i was security special attendant several times too and on my assembly everything seemed to be badly organized.
