UN scandal

lately i did a lot of reading regarding the un scandal, the org being a ngo for 10 years.

i tried to read both sides, the comments on jwfacts.com, as well as the defense at jehovahsjudgment.co.uk.. and then the endless discussion on topix.com between thirdwitness and alanf and others.. while i am sure, the way the org handled the whole situation, especially after the article in the guardian, was plain wrong, instead of openly confessing a mistake, it was done secretely and only after inquiry, and made it look like a cover-up.. .

however, considering the whole issue, i think it comes down to one question:.

*blinks at the craziness and assumptions* Lars - truly? Perhaps you need to educate yourself a bit more about the UN before coming up with such off the wall ideas. The UN simply isn't capable of that much cohesive and cooperative movement.

As far as Right or Wrong - the hypocrisy of joining any part of UN in any shape, manner or form is the height of hypocrisy. If it were not, why keep it hidden? Why not be very open about it? Why disfellowship those with knowledge of it and who question it? Why react so quickly and then resign from being an NGO? Since the scripture says not to be stumbling block, and this has clearly been a stumbling block for many, why not do a QFR? Or a one-page article in the WT/Awake? The rank and file will blindly swallow just about everything if it appears on the pages of the WT. Why not be open about STILL participating in UN-sponsored conferences? Why is it hidden away from the rank and file?

That's like saying it would be politically active so you can help spread the good news by actively working from within.

Puh-leeze.

Now. It might not be a big deal for the original poster, and that's OK. We all have different levels of shit-0-meters and what's big for one isn't at all important for another. I can respect that, and am just thrilled the OP is investigating and THINKING about things. That's half the batter.

so yesterday, my husband gets out of bed and eats breakfast.

then, he comes back over to me and at this point, he doesn't even tell me to get out of bed and get ready for the meeting anymore.

instead, he asked me if i wanted to go.

If the FBI forensically analyzed your computer would they find incriminatory searches on the net?

if your pc was searched by the fbi, would they find any searches that could used to implicate you in any crime?

even if the search was innocent, could they twist your internet search to be worse then it really was?

i will start off since i asked the question.

Sorry - I'm in a rush or I'd re-read your history to make sure if this is applicable (grin) BUT I carried alot of One Date = Forever mentality forward from being in JWs. And so if I was out a couple of times, I was thinking it was super-serious, this was IT and planning a future (which, in retrospect, really freaked alot of guys out, heh). So my best advice is - don't even think past the next date for at least 90 days. THEN maybe start thinking about exclusivity, relationships, etc. That JW mentality about dating can really mess you up.

so far quite dissappointed from what i've seen.

this is very very important, first i"ll address the non/ex jw then i'll address the jw's (jw's scroll down if don't wanna see the first part).

i see so many who have concluded that it was not 'god inspired', a lot of what is being done, and their conscience told them that many things conflicted with jesus teachings and the bible.

Do we REALLY have to have pages and pages of answers to someone who is clearly a: deliberately here to bait us, b: slightly unhinged and thinks he/she has a link to the divine? Not worth your time and energy everyone...he/she is CLEARLY not even remotely here for real discussion but rather to condemn and spew ridiculousness. No Attention = Troll Death.

I have no idea. I wonder about it sometimes tho b/c I do searches on stuff like jihad, etc and I get a listserv type email every day for an international relations forum I belong too...it's all school-related but sometimes I wonder if just doing the research red flags me somehow.

ill have a long weekend this week because of the thanksgiving holyday.

i made plans to have the entire weekend off with no activities in order to have time to begin to awake my wife.

i dont plan to lay everything out in one day, nor take the approach of we are living this organization, rather, im taking the approach of here is some information that we should consider and think about.

Agree w/ Pat1060. Find out why SHE believes it is the truth. All the other information in the world won't sway her if it's not important to her. What is HER core reason? Then figure out what approach to take.

after i decided/resolved to return to meetings several months ago, after being away on and off for several years; i can honestly say that i feel far more settled and comfortable in attending meetings again.. i struggled to attend before, having been reproved, then moving to a different congregation which i didnt find to be overly freindly.

it was only after i was reproved that i began to see all the past history of the soc iety(via internet) and the many things that simply stumbled me.

3 times i tried to return to meetings and three times i fell away.

Coupla' questions.

1. What is perimeno's real name and congregation?

2. If they are not readily available, why not? Do you really think the WTBS sanctions his/her website and personal viewpoints?

3. Exactly how long do you think a person would actually last who a: went to the elders and mentioned a: associating with apostates via the internet, b: a copy of perimeno's website with the statement of agreement with perimeno's teachings/thoughts?

4. Can someone who claims to be Christian and thus a follower of Christ REALLY associate with an organization that "treated their flock in many cases in a dreadful manner" and yet still have a good conscience?

In all honestly, I truly don't care one way or another and hope you find peace on your spiritual path. I AM curious about your answers, however, as cognitive dissonance is a very interesting phenomena, and one I may end doing part of my final dissertation on.

she is 63 yrs old still a jw.. has shunned me for years.. she lives in montreal me in ontario... .

last week i got the urge to send her a lovely card just to tell her i love her .
