Since rheumatoid arthritis is an auto immune disease, why don't people with this problem get immuno suppressors, like people who have had transplants? Wouldn't this stop your body attacking its own cartilage?
I had a flare up today, and I can barely sit upright at the 'puter.
What triggers these sudden stiffenings?
Hey ham,
I'm not a doctor, but I am a RN so I'll try my best to explain:
Patients take medication when they have transplants to keep their body from rejecting the new "donor organ". The auto immune disease, in your case rheumatoid arthritis is different, your body is turning on itself, same as diabetes, lupus, MS so the meds that keep you from rejecting a "donor organ" would not work. (as far as I know. new things come out every day so there may be some "new light" on these organ transplant meds).
Some researchers say that the weather can trigger a flare up, if you are sick that can cause a flare up, even stress. Are you on Prednisone or Metheltrexate?
I'm sorry you are feeling bad and hope you get better soon!!
