  SIL succumbs to the cancer :(

  i wanted to thank all of you who sent prayers and warm thoughts and healing vibes in the direction of my sister in law in california who found out in november that she had pancreatic cancer at age 44. she managed to get five more months before she could fight no more.

  my father called yesterday to tell me that despite everyone's best efforts, that she has only a couple days at most to live and that her organs are shutting down.

  they are trying to keep her as comfortable as possible and she is surrounded by her family and has a strong faith as a mormon that this isnt the end for her.

  as you all know by now i am a jw backer, and in the first week on here i have gone back and forth with people.

  alot of people on here have a problem with all the rules.

  in my opinion i dont think they were too hard to follow and most of it was stuff that you shouldnt be doing anyways.

  I dont think you are really a JW backer, you just want us to help you work out your thinking process. Because Dubs are not allowed to come here

  I agree with jaguarbass,

  I think you are trying to get us to justify why you are here, that you really do not back the jw's but you can't quite shake the brainwashing they have already done.

  It's not about "the rules", people follow rules all day everyday, work, driving, school, local laws, but what we are talking about is the dangerous cult ways of the JW's. When an organization or person(s) try to tell you not to associate with your family members, how to raise your children, what married couples can and cannot do in the privacy of their home, how much time you have to spend preaching, going to meetings, what to do on vacations, and the list goes on and on and on........... That's what we are talking about.

  It's bigger than "following the rules that people should be doing anyways". Every indivdual has the right to make his or her own choices, to question things that just don't quite make sense, to disagree with out the fear of loosing family, friends and for some the only lifestyle they have every known. Religion is a personal choice and should not be a requirement to maintain family ties!

  i liked saturdays because i never went out in the field service that day, and there was no meeting that day also.

  i kept the field service for the week days, when less people were at home.. .

  Music in the New Millenium...

  a friend of mine and i are always discussing the music boom that was in the mid-to-late 90's spawned off of grunge music and alternative music.

  and woe be it from me to sound old here, but i can't really see anything new happening in the new millenium.

  it seems every decade has had some sort of musical movement if not 2 or 3, but the new millenium no such luck.

  EMERGENCY! Need some ideas

  so tomorrow is mrs slh's birthday and i need an imaginative idea for a present around $50.

  she loves neckalces, handgabs and shoes so i've bought her loads of those.

  i'm looking for something a bit more imaginative and i am stacked out at work today so don't have the time to trawl the net for ideas.

  I don't know if you have Hallmark (cards) stores near you, but the sell charms, like for necklaces and bracelets in the form of shoes and handbags.

  Buy her a necklace and the charms for the shoe and handbag.

  Inconvenient Watchtower Anagrams!

  sometimes it can be humourously approprite what you can come up with.
