while talking with mom(active dub) this morning, i said " aren't you glad i was never baptised so you can still talk and have a mother son relationship'?
her response shocked me in that she said it wouldn't matter your still my son.
and she would be able to talk with me, just cannot discuss the jw religion.. i was always under the impression you would be shunned for the rest of your life, unless you went through the chain of command for reinstatement.
My family practices their own type of shunning:
1. quietly - when no one is around they are happy go lucky and will talk, laugh, eat and play with you
2. convience - will shun you when they don't need you for something. But all bets are off if they need something they will call and you are their best friend!
JW's are known for being wishy-washy and fake - my family is no different.

I just started using Mary Kay - I love it. The makeup goes on smooth and blends well. I don't like to look "made up" like a manaquin. It's a bit expensive but I think well worth it and not much more expensive than some of the name brands on the market.

i think it's a great statement, simple, but oh so true.
Bashing someone's family is wrong and I agree 100% with that.
But I disagree with some of the other replies - I stopped being judgemental long before I left the dubs, I stopped worrying about what other people thought or stumbling someone a long time ago. Are we still Jdubs here? Do I have to worry about stumbling someone and not be myself because if I say something sexual my morals are in question?
I don't care what another person feels about my morals! It's ok to preach and bible thump, but god forbid someone says a "dirty word" or talks about sex. What makes you (this is not at anyone in particular) that I want to hear about God, Jesus or the bible in every thread? If it's about something I don't want to see, hear or discuss, I click on the little X at the top, simple. Don't like it - don't read it - don't respond to it!

i would like start by saying i having been married twice.
the first time i married a girl who was also raised a jw, sex was great when we first got married but after a couple of years it almost completely stopped.
the marriage did not last much longer i thought it was because we just grew apart and i became uninterested.
I think there comes a point in every marraige when things "die down". You get caught up in raising the kids, work, taking care of the home.....
You have to make time for sex especially when the kids are young. Have a date night with you spouse, take time watching tv and holding, carressing each other. You will be suprised how much a massage will do to stir up feelings. Marraige is something you have to work at all the time.
You may want to seek professional counseling especially if you love you spouse and want things to work out. I think JW's tend to be more sexually repressed, I say JW's because I have no experience with other religions. It may be that super religious people see sex as a sin or only for having children which will take the fun out of it. Sex is important in marraige and not just to procreate.

ive been visiting for some time, but until now havent said much.
i would appreciate some observations on the latest episode between me and my jw mother, like whether this is something i should ignore or try to resolve.. i was dfd at thirteen, five years ago, for being a gay atheist.
i didnt become homeless only because my mother was/is ill with ms, we maintained a just workable relationship so that i could stay and help her look after herself.. the last three years relations became more tense as i began to piece together what had happened since she joined the org when i was about 3. she demanded yesterday to know why, and i let her have it.. i told her how fucking petrified of life i was as a kid, hearing about armageddon and the world.

I'm sorry you have had to go through this. I too was raised a JW and I have a very toxic mother. She has said more hurtfull things to me than helpfull. Eventually, I learned to accept it for what it is. She is delusional, mentally disturbed and so blinded by the JW cult that she honestly thinks that what she says and does is right.
You will probably stay and take care of your mother, I too love my mother and would take care of her (have done it already), but you learn to not allow them to hurt you, set your boundaries and when those boundaries are crossed you have to let her know that she has crossed it and put her back where she belongs!

my 9 year old son decides back in april that the memorial is going to be his last meeting at the kingdomhall.
so... he refuses to go to the meetings, and when forced to go - leaves the meeting right after the song and starts walking to my mother-in-law's house a couple of blocks away where he knows my sypathetic father-in-law (a raging catholic, not a jw) will have sympathy on him and say "nevermind, just leave him here with me when you go to the meetings from now on.
" the next week - the garbage man visits to collect the trash in front of the house - and my son had taken all of his meeting clothes, pants, suit jackets, ties, dress socks, etc... and left them all curbside for the trash man to pick up.
Sounds like your kids take after daddy Sound like they have a good chance at a normal life, good for you and them!

I don't get the same impression as WC does about your wife.
I don't know you or her of course but from your posts I don't get the feeling that life is horrible for you, other than having you wife still in. My hubby was never baptized and we both left at age 18, so I can't relate or even imagine being in your position.
I can speak for being married, for 21 years and although our marraige does not have to complication of the JW org, we do have our fair share of problems. But I love my husband very much and could not imagine my life without him. You probably feel the same way. So I hope you can find a way to finally get her out, but in the mean time, keep loving your wife for who she is. Show her that you are still the man she married and fell in love with and it has nothing to do with being a Jdub.

Wine keeps me from choking the living S$#% out of my hubby and kids It helps me unwind after work and get ready to deal with the second job - hubby, kids, house, dog......
But seriously - studies have shown the benefits of red wine. I think, and if I'm wrong someone please feel free to correct me but I've heard that it also helps bring down cholesterol witch in turn lessens heart disease.
This however is not a reason to stop meds and if you are on medication you would certainly not want to mix with alcohol! But talk to your Dr. about it. And last but not least, at the risk of sounding JW'ish "moderation" is the key!
