MIL is a JW

my mil who was raised a jw and raised my dh a jw is always doing something to get attention.

i don't invite her over or to do anything anymore because when we do all she whines about is how no one ever wants to call her or do anything with her.

how annoying, who would want to spend time with someone like that!

Although my MIL is a Loyal dub - she is a wonderfull person. She really does love me and treat me like she gave birth to me and I would never trade her for another. I couldn't have picked a better MIL if I hand picked her myself. She has been more of a mother to me in the past 21 years of our marraige than my own mother has been in my 42 (almost 43) years of life!

Now, my poor hubby is not so lucky. My mother is a NUT CASE - she is crazy, she doesn't like him, never has and never will. But then again I don't think she even likes herself She certainly doesn't like me!

Anyway, sorry I can't offer any advise. I'm sure others will have plenty

Finally got asked "THE Question"

i don't post too often here but have been coming here for a few years now.

i have been successfully fading for the past 10 years (so i thought) but went to visit jw family members last week and the matriarch of the family asked us if we still believed it was jehovah's organization.

after avoiding a direct answer and trying to skirt the issue for a while, finally the hubby said, "no, we don't believe it's jehovah's organization".

hard to find "in" relationship while inactive

i was out of the truth and in a relationship for 4 years.

i didn't go to the meetings at all, my bf lived with me, and we celebrated holidays.

i never stopped believing the truth.

The whole flying reindeer and Santa lies, is crazy.

Just as crazy as believing there is an all powerfull sky daddy waiting to strike down all non-believers in a horrible day of vengence, leaving millions of rotting bodies for bird food and all the lucky (oops fortunate) JW's who survive this day of vengence to clean up?

Difference is the flying reindeer and santa stories are believed by children and when they grow up they stop believing in fairytales.

I hate to be the one to break it to ya, but it's all a big fairytale, stop waisting your time and energy on it and get on with living and enjoying the life you have now. Just my 2cents!

How much does a housewife cost?

don't take this the wrong way, this is purely out of curiousity.. .

assuming you are the working man who makes the money, and the wife stays at home and takes care of the house and cooks and does laundry and all that stuff.. no children!.

how much would it cost to hire someone(s) to do all those things instead?

Um, I married a man not a house! I'm a woman, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece and friend but not a housewife!

Edited: I don't need a man to take care of me, I can do that all by myself. It makes life (for me) much more enjoyable to have the hubby around, but if he were to disappear today I'd miss him terribly but financially I'd be just fine.

They make us feel like garbage.....but next year we have PLANS!!!

having spent last friday evening with jw relatives, both husband and self have been a bit 'uncomfortable in our skins' today.. i don't know why they ask us.

they treat us as if we weren't there and there is a definite atmosphere that hangs heavily and i believe they only ask us just so they can ignore us.

they have done this every year for the last twenty years and we have plans to make this one our last.

Hey Gill,

It's sad that you and you children are being treated that way. Can't you just feel the love??

I'm sure you and your family will feel much better once you are not playing their games anymore. Start your own family traditions now. You will enjoy the holidays much more once you leave all the JW crap behind!

Hey Mary,

This will be the first New Year's Eve that I'm actually going out in about 12 years! I hate to be out on NYE, I hate to be without my kids on NYE and this will be the very first! I know, I know they are grown - but I still feel like they are supposed to ring in the New Year with me

I hope all goes well, I'll be designated drive for the other 5 drunk heathens in my car so I won't be able to party until I get back home. Hopefully the hubby won't be too drunk to............... er never mind!

Anyway, have a safe, happy healthy New Year.
