Just a thought. According to the theory of relativity, if a man leaves earth for a time and returns, he will have aged less than those left behind. Would that apply to aliens leaving their planet (presuming they exist, of course)? Well, if we are going to look into all the realms of possibility, why not include the theory of relativity? I admit, though, that I don't really understand the theory, but it sounds good

here's one from me.. i went to a hairdressing salon for the first time and the stylist was a camp male who never stopped chatting from the second he got his gesticulating paws on my scruffy mop.. my mum who is a devout jw was sitting reading a mag waiting for me.. next thing he's telling us about his gay male friend who is a bit down because he is having an affair with a jw.
to make things worse he is married with kids (the brother not the gay friend).. stifling my shock and trying not to look at my mum who is staring wildly and unseeingly at her mag i asked his name or address and although he didn't know the name he told us his street and district!.
My goss isn't as juicy as yours, but here goes. An extremely wealthy elder asked a brother to fix his television. The brother was not well off, and had a family to support, but being naive, he only charged the elder for the parts, not the hours of work he put in. The elder was taken aback, he did not expect to be charged at all. Funny thing is, this elder never even gave the brother a discount when the brother bought something from the elder. today, i had a long, long talk with my employer.
this person is some one who can seperate work and personal things, so after feeling like i needed to talk to someone, and soon, before i crack up, i went to her and dropped the bomb.
she is not a witness, and because i cannot talk to a witness about what i have learned, for fear of the df'ing thingy, i feel safe in talking to her.
zev, my heart goes out to you and your wife. Metatron's depression idea sounds good. There is one possibility that has not been mentioned. It could be that your wife won't really make you choose, but is trying to scare you into staying in the borg. As bugeye said, in her mind if she chooses you then she loses the new system and virtual immortality and a feeling of knowing certainty. She may also be feeling that your life depends on staying in the borg, so in her mind she is trying to save your life. I am not saying that I understand your wife, just that this is a possibility. Anyway, from me {{{{{hugs}}}}}. I also feel that it is better to not put in a DA letter or meet with the elders or any of that sort of rubbish.

More ways to count time included taking unbaptized persons to and from the meetings. When it was to a convention or assembly, you could get hours in while travelling, and you had to go anyway.
I knew of one pioneer brother who went to the beach at 5.30 in the morning to see who was jogging or walking on the beach. There was always someone there, so his time started really early, and so he could either have the afternoons off, or get his hours in early in the month.
Another way to start time early was to pick up unbaptized publishers to take them out witnessing, especially it you took them either on a call or not at home before the group. That was really spiritual.

i've been baptized for a while now.. just as a topic of thought, what do you think is the current state of the society/jehovah's witnesses today?
it seems like we're in the last days.... but then again, the last days have been going on for 60+ years!

Your parents can't respond biblically or logically because of the mind control of the society. The mind control puts up a barrier to anything threatening their belief system. That is why there are so many meetings for a JW to attend. Preparation for the meetings also helps to keep them under control.
I agree with Gopher that your best response would be to live a happy well-adjusted life and show unconditional love, in response to any hate and anger that the believers show you.
