  Your funny stories of being a JW

  i was just thinking that maybe to lighten it up a bit and we could talk about our funny stories about being in the jw religion.

  i thought it would be fun to read.. some of my favorities:.

  running a block and a half from dogs when i was about 8.. letting all my note cards when i was giving a talk fall to the floor.. tripping over the stairs as i participated in a demonstration.. laughing out loud in a talk and not being able to stop until i went to the bathroom.. having a fit of coughing that disrupted the entire meeting.

  Hmm, how about the single middle aged "sister" that was handicapped and was lonely and horny........and would sneak and pinch the younger guys in the butt, and give them a big juicy kiss on the lips when she could get away with it.

  Or the time when the microphone attendant hit the answerer in the mouth with the microphone on a stick.

  Oh, and the crazies who claimed to be of the annointed - one of whom had been divorced and remarried and never came to meetings, but was there to partake at memorial!! What a joke that religion is!!

  I sure did try to, but life got in the way of doing 100% of what I always heard from the platform about what I was "supposed" to be doing to be a faithful dub. I constantly felt like I wasn't good enough and a failure in God's eyes.

  How can anyone live up to being "perfect" and do as expected of us by Jehover aka the FDS?

  i m ex-jw actually dissfellow 4 years ago.. i don t belive in the "holy bible", either in jehovah "god" n never return to some sect or religion, that it lies to believers.

  i m free of human ideas or "divine".

  actually participate in forums in spanish.. thanks a lot.

  The Secret of AGING! (long but worth it)

  scientists has long searched for an answer as to why we age.

  there appears to be no physiological reason for the phenomena, neither within the cells, or our dna structure.

  for all their effort they cannot tell us why our bodies don't just keep regenerating forever, why we grow old.. stupid scientists, they were looking in the wrong place.. allow me to elaborate, but be warned, this may go long.. your child is born and she's so tiny.

  I admire you and your outlook on life. You've given your daughter the best gift of all, a loving father who is understanding and not overprotective, yet allowing her be become the woman she is be with your loving guidance every now and again.

  I have yet to go through the teenage years and young adulthood with my children. It's a scary thought...

  How many happy JW marriages do you know of?

  just reading frequent flyer miles on the subject of feeling guilty for having a happy marriage with a non-jw.. in our congregation which i haven't attended for about a year, i can only think of two or three who seem to be happy.

  of course, i don't know what happens behind closed doors, but i know of several who admit they are unhappy.

  i wrote out a long list of couples who have divorced over the last 20 years--including three elders (one is on his second divorce).

  How many have I known? Very few!! I even have doubts that my own JW parents have a truely happy marriage. At home all I ever heard was bickering - non stop! So much so that I can't stand hearing or partaking of it now.

  Out of me and my 3 siblings, 3 out of the 4 have been divorced from so called JW's and remarried. Not good odds!

  I strongly feel, now that I am "outside of the box" so to speak, that in order not to get in trouble with the R&F or be disciplined, many learn how to pretend they are happy. I was one of them. Oh, and I made myself try to think that even if I wasn't happy in my marriage if I hung in there and made sure Jehovah was happy (aka the FDS in reality) then I would be happy too. Boy do I feel like an idiot now...what a waste of my young adulthood!

  Ever Got the blame?? (sorry if post is too long)

  i have been df'd for around 4 years and have not got my back up about the org until this year.

  only this last year have i been looking around for answers and started realising there is a foundation for my reasons of not going back.

  at first i was happy that it wasn't because i was making excuses for not going back but bad things were happening outside of the people i know across the org.. what pissed me off the most (and the reason i found this site) is because i got the blame for my brother in-law having sex in my house with someone other than his wife (my sister) because i am not witness and thus have low standards.. i'll try to keep this short: i have 2 sisters, one brother and 2 parents (fancy that) both remarried however.

  I just get so mad now of the "higher than thou" attitude. I am the same person I was when I was a JW as far as my love for people goes and what I would and wouldn't do. It has nothing to do with being a witness.

  Exactly how I feel! I am still the person I was before I was Df'd! They just can't see past the cults standards and think because they haven't faultered (YET) that they are soooo much better than me.

  Sorry to hear you are going through this mess! I hope your sister comes to realize one day that her husband most likely would have done it anywhere whether it was your house or not - what if he was at his house and your sister was gone, does that mean it wouldn't or couldn't have happened?! If it was me, I'd wonder if it happened before with someone else. I found out after the fact that while I was out of town - my ex would be out to "play".

  So neat to see people from my old "stomping grounds"! Yes, the Rehms had quite a reputation didn't they. They finally got removed back in the 90's much to their disliking.
