I have mostly my entire family and friends in the cult. Also, a large part of my income, which comes from side-work I do, relies on JW business and their JW referrals.

Two issues here... expect trouble as long as you are living with JW family. You do not state why, nor is it our business why, you are living at home. Apparently you are old enough to be on your own. Until you resolve that situation, you will have to deal with it.

As to the side work you do.... that is something I presume you can do something about. If not, then you are also still chained to the Borg.

Until you can seperate physically (home) and financially (work) from the cultist...you will have to keep dealing with the unwanted visits.

Next time you are confronted, just start humming. Yep, and maybe start twitching....start with subtle eye winks...then maybe a facial muscle twitch...then go with little vocal ticks.... not full blown Tourettes (and not to poke fun at those who have it)...just enough to make the visitors think its really not worth trying to get you back to the hall.... dont need that little distraction during the meetings...

I eat with whom I want, associate with whom I want. I had a nice chat and coffee awhile back with a former JW that, as an elder, I had a hand in DFing for, ironically, apostasy. We got to compare notes post-JC. Very interesting indeed. They post on this board occasionally. I consider that person and their non-DF'd wife my friends.

WTBTS can say what they want...to someone else....

...they no longer control my life. I am no longer looking over my shoulder. Life is better that way.

nope...free country.... sounds like too much trouble for me...but its not me...Personally, I went through a very calculated procedure to execute my fade 18 months ago. It was 100% successful and I am still living in the same house that I have for the last dozen years. My fade will be blown out of the water soon because I am taking actions in my life without a care in the world what the hell WTBTS, et al. do. They can DF, DA, BJ, JC, whatever... but for the original poster they take chances blowing their own fade out of the water by their actions...as I said, their little trick would NOT have worked with me.

ok, i can tolerate jw's once in a blue moon, even the mormons, but in the past month i have had the following:.

roof sales.

airconditioning.

Not much. STEP 1: Politely refuse their offer at first knock and request they leave and not come back.

STEP 2: Firm but insistent on their departure of my property if they persist.

STEP 3: Aluminum baseball bat comes out from behind the door if they continue on past that.

I have had alarm companies and lawn services recently...... not much in my hood. My company wants me to cold sell cable in addition to my collection activities.... unless someone asks me about service or it is a new tenant at a place I am already knocking, I don't do direct sales...

I cannot stand kids soliciting for school. I think that kids should not be out drumming up money for school stuff. Kids should be home doing homework. Lots of homework.

Taxpayers should either vote to foot the bill for their school systems and provide what the kids need OR schools should strip out all but the things required to teach kids the basics and be competitive in the world beyond. (and I love HS theater, music and art programs, etc and think it should be available) ...however, given an EITHER/OR....what I want to see is advanced math, English, reading, etc. being taught.

Kids should not be soliciting for funds.......make the school board and the principals do it.

what amuses me about this thread is that it got 14 pages, 3600 page views, in 2 days.

I have not read all of the responses, I really have other things to do...lol.

I did read Jackie's comments from earlier. Personally, I do not have children (yet). I would not even think to tell another parent how to raise their children. Not even my GF's 8 year old son. I guess in our case is that we will be living together soon and she wants my input because it directly impacts me and how I deal with her son.

In FHN's opening post, I guess I wouldnt have seen a problem if FHN had taken an otherwise empty seat and the adult objected. I would not have made any judgement comments about "knowing better"...I would have only said that it is 1 seat per patron and that I was taking my seat. Though the woman had no right to cordon off an entire AREA, she had the right to save 1 seat per child and herself. That would have been the limit of my comment.

Of course, if such an obnoxious person was there, I would probably not have even bothered with her. If I wanted a seat and she was taking all of them and there were no other ADULT seats around I would either a) taken a seat and said nothing to the seat hog b) said something to library staff and let them deal with the seat hog or c) leave.

The only way I am intervening in the way a stranger parent is dealing with their kids is if the kid is in danger or if the kid is directly being a pain in my ass.

i use drip and never seem to get the measurement right.

at the moment i'm on high octane, shifting into high gear .... i believe this morning's brew is akin to espresso in volatility.. any suggestions as to an exact quantity of cafe per 8-cup coffee maker?.

That reminded me ........my GF and I were just lying in bed Sunday morning......we both wanted coffee...she more addicted to caffeine than I....but neither of us motivated to get out of bed.... ....so...

we snapped our fingers and called out to the butler for coffee...no butler......apparently our butler had the day off.... oh wait...we dont have a butler.....guess that meant I had to get up and make coffee.....

Did I mention that my GF, though beautiful even first thing in the morning, is not very talkative or sociable until she has had at least 1 large cup of java before interacting with other humans, myself included? As long as I take care of her addictions, she loves me...good thing we have the same addictions lol

I am not addicted to coffee as much as my GF Toni...she cannot function without it.

She just left...i bought Ronoco at the grocery store..but whole bean in the dispensers not the packages...they service that often so it is fresh...i check for shiny beans...

i also grind my own beans... the key is grinding fine...the more surface area available for the water to hit, the stronger the brew. Grinders have different settings..perc, drip, expresso....the latter being the finest...so even if you use drip maker as I do currently, you can still grind as expresso.

and i use coffee maker cleaners to clean the pot every couple of weeks or so.... more often since toni and i started dating (lol)...

from a nonJW perspective it is insane. within the JW perspective what your mother says makes perfect sense.

Within any cult, but especially within JWs, "Satan", the "Great Adversary" gets all the blame when things go wrong and "Jehovah", "Jesus", and "The Faithful and Discreet Slave" all get equal credit when everything goes well in the life of a cult member.

What about that supposed "free will" the JWs claim to have? Under your mother's scenario, you are not at fault at all... "Satan" caused you to go astray. Isn't "Jehovah" supposed to be stronger than "Satan"? Why isn't "Jehovah" intervening?,..... oh, that's right..."he" is allowing the cult members to be tested as to fitness....oh wait.... can't "Jehovah" read the heart of an individual? Why all this need for ongoing testing in the Old System™ and that Final Test™ at the end of the Thousand Year Reign™? Why not just zap the bad apples now instead of waiting?...oh wait, the cult doesn't have control that way....never mind...lol

You will notice that "Jehovah", "Jesus" and "The Faithful and Discreet Slave" are all in quotation marks. I do that to differentiate fictional characters.

Of course...you know JWs system of beliefs and the resulting actions of its members is all insane, right?
