Back to the topic - I am in love with a JW

i have been dating a very committed jw - he spent some time out of the organisation after a divorce and about a year ago has been granted a fellowship again.

i absolutely adore him - and what is there not to love!

he is the most kind, sweet and lovable man i have ever met.

We welcome you with open arms and want to know about you and will encourage you the best way we can. There are a lot of great folks here.

Attempting to stay on topic, the advise given to LindaLu by some of the other posters applies to you as well.

"gettng caught" WTF? The good thing is he has finally ealized now that he cant have his cake and eat it too. Better you know that now than later. Too bad he had stomp on your heart for him to realize that.

5 angels ...hon, you have already lost him. You don't say how long you dated or how old you are. But he went against the JW religion rules by dating you in the first place. IT IS NOT YOUR FAULT. He already has a mistress, her name is "Jehovah's Witnesses" and he is indebted to her. You would always be the "other woman" if you had married him. JW comes first, everything else second. If he gets married, he needs to marry a fellow JW so they can be miserable slaves to that religion together.

Move on, tough as it is. (By the by, I would not date a JW now because I am on the way out of the organization, or at least will never be "whole hearted" to it again. If I find a nice non-JW girl who loves me for what I am and not because I have a title in a man made religion, then I am going to date and/or marry a non-JW girl and get the hell out...never thought I would ever think THAT let alone admit it here)

There is still a writing department? I thought the last of the Bethelites left were just cleaning out old files in Crooklyn and trucking them to Walkill and reformatting and rebinding them on those fancy presses up in Walkill.

Was there ever a writing department? All the Borg does is regurgitate this crap every 7 years or so (and seemingly more often now in the cycle.)

i adopted my cat 14 years ago today.

she is 14years and 2 months old.. i'd do it all over again..... .

my cat died a couple of years ago at age 14. my former roommate got him as a kitten, but when he got married his wife already had a cat, so I kept the kitty.

Maybe I will get another cat someday. But right now I am home so little, I'd have to get 2 to keep each other company. It would be nice to have a cat to curl up on my lap or keep my feet warm (or better yet, curl up with a nice wife!... heh heh). I was at an elderly sisters's house the other day (she has no idea about the fade) and her cat just loves to sit in my lap...the sister tells me the cat does not curl up in any other lap like that.... I think cats know if you really like them or not.

My family had a dog that we had to put to sleep at 19. Probably should have done it at 18...my dad just could not bring himself to have it done.... one of the rare times I seen my dad cry.

What if you put an envelope in the box- "For the Lawsuits" ?

another thread made a similar suggestion, so i thought what if....?.

what would happen if you put an envelope in the donation box with a check, and on the .

envelope (also on the comments portion of the check) it said "for the child-abuse lawsuits".

I have several suggestions for donating at the conventions, assemblies, etc (but not the local KH of course...too easy to track)..... lets start putting in Monopoly Money in the contribution boxes. (If you put your check they know who you are. And why would we give REAL money to the Borg (other than as cover in the below continuation of this suggestion)

Here's what I think we should do....go to the (non-commercial) link below and print the PDF files of monopoly money.....make lots of them....use a color printer if you can. BUT... make sure you either write or print across the face of it "For The Watchtower Sex-Abuse Settlements". Feel free to "donate" as much as you want. As a further suggestion, make sure to do it early in the program (Friday morning for District Conventions, Saturday morning for circuit assembly, first thing in the morning at the SAD)....maybe you will get to hear an "announcement" by Administration about abusing the contribution boxes....

Of course, this will either amuse or pi** off the people who have to dump the money boxes on the tables in the rooms they hide in. Make sure if you do it, you put it in an envelope, or fold it over with a real $1 bill so the sister watching the box does not catch on to our fun and games.

Elders and Ministerial Servants

those of you that are elders and ms on the fade, i want to know how you personally keep up the facade?

do you find it difficult to give meeting parts, comments, "setting the example" in the field ministry?

im a ms and when i give parts i do my best not to mention the "faithful and discreet slave".

As you may have surmised from previous posts, I am a recent former elder. I have missed almost every meeting this month, including today. I will have to show up soon or the questions will start building. I am not able to completely leave at this point because of mom being in the Borg and a few close friends whose hearts I will break if I completely leave. These friends know I am missing more and more meetings. A couple even know I dont do the formal ministry anymore. I am getting some gentle nudges. However, encouragingly enough, the lack of reaction from some is very interesting. I think they too are tired of the Borg but dont know how to separate from Mother's teet.

I have been, maybe rightly so, criticized by a couple of folks on JWD as being a "fence sitter" and such.... Most here have been a bit more understanding.

So my facade is crumbling. It has been noticed I am not "involved" with my new congo. I commented at the Craptower lesson the first couple of meetings at my new congo, then couldn't stomach the "Pete and Repea" nature of the lesson. I am not on the School. The PO told me I should get on the school, telling me, by now your name should be on the schedule (we have a huge congo, so I am hoping such things will not come up often). If my name appears for a #2 reading or #4 talk, I will just tell them my work schedule really has me tied up (I actually write my own schedule and work when I want, which now is most of the time...conveniently on meeting nights especially) and not put me on the schedule. If pushed, I will tell them to "let some of the newer, less experienced publishers enjoy the "privilege" and gain experience for awhile. I am just worn out from my beatings as an elder at the previous congo."

I have not been to a single book study since the Climax book started (locally, except for one time when visiting Mom I did go, and that was a joke). I dont plan on going to the book study again. That part of the fade has been successful so far.

As for pioneering, I used to do it, hated it really. But that was what was expected of a single MS (later elder) on the fast track (but often interrupted) to bigger privileges. Never could get comfortable in the ministry pushing this stuff on people. Did it for maybe 8-10 years off and on. No more. I thought by now you might have already come off the list as a pioneer and started school if I remember correctly? Whether you stay on as an MS is your choice. Another poster is staying on as an elder to try to help others from the inside. But living the split life is very difficult as I am finding out for myself. Do what you can to wean yourself off the Borg...that is what I am doing.

Lots of great support here on the JWD board...feel free to PM me if you wish (that goes for anyone here). If I can help in some little way, then I am happy to do so. That is how I felt as an elder, try to help others.

Sharing a bed

this is ot (like half of the topics in 'friends'), and a bit personal, but i don't actually have that many friends that i can talk about this with, so here goes.... mr frass and i believe we're very happily married, and we're very affectionate.

trouble is, around midnight many nights, i'm finding that i can't get comfortable and sleep.

i need to turn around a lot, cuddle a spare pillow in *just* the right way etc.

I am not married but I too have trouble sleeping. I just ordered one of those Select Comfort Sleep Number Beds. (wont put a link, since that aint allowed.... ) These beds are glorified air mattresses on steroids. The nicer ones have memory foam toppers and extra thick matress covers.

My mom has one and when I house sat for them I slept in it.... ahhhh heaven. The nice thing is the Queen (which I ordered) and larger sizes have dual chambers, meaning one person can adjust the bed soft/firmness on their side completely different than the other persons side. They are a bit pricey (mine hit about $2K US), but I got 0% financing for 18 months.....I will pay it off long before it comes due.

I am soooo looking forward to getting it this week.... if you can afford it, that might be the way to go. Heres to you getting some sleep!

My mom and dad slept separately because dad snored so bad...but they had a good "bedroom" life otherwise so that did not suffer (as a grown adult I did not want to know that about my parents but found out quite by accident that little fact...... !) As a single guy I cannot imagine being married and having to sleep separately from my spouse,.....

WT/AWAKE mags MP3s ON CD

willpower is talking about the audio cassette readings of the current Craptower and Asleep! magazines. Cassettes are going the way of the dodo bird (a friend of mine at Bethel used to work in tape duplication...he said the Borg had trouble getting magnetic tape, sometimes 2-3 days with no production...everyone is getting out of that business). It was announced either late last year or early this year cassettes were ending soon. The audio versions of the magazines are now on CD in MP3 format (as well as still in regular CD format). They put two mags on each disk in MP3 format (same source at Bethel said they could put 4 or 5 mags on one disk, but they would get too far ahead).

I am still getting them, but now they are just becoming drink coasters. I need to go ahead and just end those when I cut my magazine order back from 6 each to 3 each.

I love the details you go into..... really exposing the Borg hypocricy....makes the "lesson" more tolerable when I am there, looking at my printout of WT ~~Cliff's~~ Blondie's Notes ™ while trying not to snicker during the Meeting ™ ... ..

You know meeting attendance is bad when...

four congregations need to merge into two just to get some decent numbers.

a sister from my old hall called me a few weeks ago to let me know that the congregation was moving to another hall.

when i asked why they needed to move she said it was due to the fact that meeting attendance had diminished a lot in the past two years.

lola28: You are going to see more and more of this. I heard about a congo in Illinois, they just closed the Litchfield congregation KH. It was a relatively new KH. It was sold and I was told by someone in Illinois that the money is being given to a small congo near the Illinois river (at the IL/MO border) for an English congo and a new Spanish congo/group. Litchfield was mostly older ones, the PO driving to Decatur for work then going to Litchfield for meetings. He finally got (partially) smart and moved to Decatur.....(i say partially smart, since he did not just leave). The remaining elders were scattered to several congos. Now, some of the territory that has been reassigned is 45 minutes to the nearest congo.

With gas prices where they are, can you imagine a publisher (let alone a newly interested one) driving that far to Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday meetings along with Saturday FS? I was told 2 of those elders are doing just that ...driving 45 min each way to meetings (not including elders meetings).....what a waste of resources. So now the overall attendance is down because many of those left from the dissolved congo are elderly and cant make the trip. (yayyy for attendance being down)

i read somewhere on the pbs site that someone (can't remember who) said there could be millions of ex-jws.

is there any possible way to confirm just how many of us there are?

Hell, why not, the LDS (latter day saints) do it... why do you think they have such an outrageously thorough genealogical database? So they can baptize and save their dead relatives, even if said relatives would be horrified by the prospect.

As for the idea of tracking this, it would not be possible without a huge computer and a lot of manhours survyeying people. But think of everyone who has ever studied, raised in the Borg, married a Borg, D/F'd, D/A'd, etc..... many "Touched By ~~an Angel~~ the borg"...

be interesting though...
