Create your perfect world
by Layla33 ini know we have some very imaginative people, so let's pretend we are "god".
we see how much of an economic crisis we are in, how politics is making people fight from all sides, so many religions and they are all fighting against each other, in fact, every difference can be a breaking point for division.
create a world that is functional, realistic and economically sound.. it can be as short or long as you want, but i think it would be a good place to come up with some ideas and possibly create a reality that even in our own lives, can make a difference..

WHAT will the next 10, 20, or 30 years bring? It can be frightening to contemplate the future in this age of terrorism. Technology is booming. Globalization has made many nations interdependent. Will world leaders unite and pave the way for a brighter tomorrow? Some people say yes, hoping that by the year 2015, leaders will be able to stem the tide of poverty and hunger, reverse the spread of AIDS, and halve the proportion of those without access to safe drinking water and sanitation.—See the box “Optimism Versus Reality.”
James 4:13, 14 , Today’s English Version
However, man’s vision of the future has often proved to be illusory. For example, decades ago one expert said that by 1984, farmers would plow the ocean floor with underwater tractors; another said that by 1995, cars would be equipped with computerized hardware that would prevent collisions; and another predicted that by 2000, there would be some 50,000 people living and working in space. Of course, those who made such predictions likely now wish they had remained silent. One journalist wrote: “There’s nothing like the passage of time to make the world’s smartest people look like complete idiots.”

Bookstudy and the United Nations
by bud2114 inwondering if anyone else is taking advantage of the subject matter being covered these past few weeks at the bookstudy (revelation climax book) regarding religion's association with the blasphemous scarlet colored wild beast (un organization)?
this week especially does the book get into religion's "heinous" involvement with the un with the wt society's writers even sarcasticly poking fun at other religions who have supported the un.
i, for one, have been taking full advantage of this grand opportunity to "witness" to as many j-dubs as possible about the wt society's secret 10 year involvement with the un and subsequent coverup.

The NGO affiliation of the Borg is one of their most reprehensible acts. The bastards have blood on their hands.
Years ago (1970s) there were untold numbers of Malawian Dubs who were executed for following the directives of the Borg to not buy a 25 cent political affiliation card.
The Borg leadership is truly living a life of delusion thinking that they can do no wrong.
I have been out for almost 11 years so I can't really do anything to contribute to enlightening Dubs about the NGO scandal, but I hope that any of the active Dubs who are posting here or just lurking and reading on this site take Bud's suggestion seriously. The Borg needs to be held accountable for their duplicity and deception.
Good luck with the undertaking you guys. Please keep us updated on any success that comes from the effort.
All the best to everyone,
Alex

The Chautauqua Institute is a "must experience" for you seekers....
by Alpaca inhey all,.
several years ago, when i was in one of my really "sour on religion" phases, some of my post-borg new friends introduced me to the chautauqua institute, near jamestown n.y.. this is one of the coolest places on the planet.
the institute was started by some methodist ministers in the 1800s as a forum for dialogue between religion, hard science, and the social sciences.

Hey all,
Several years ago, when I was in one of my really "sour on religion" phases, some of my post-Borg new friends introduced me to the Chautauqua Institute, near Jamestown N.Y.
This is one of the coolest places on the planet. The Institute was started by some Methodist ministers in the 1800s as a forum for dialogue between religion, hard science, and the social sciences. All summer long they have some of the most outstanding speakers you will hear anywhere. There is even a place for agnostics and atheists at the Institute. Man, talk about tolerance!!!!
Wherever you live, you need to plan a trip to the Institute at some point.
Here's a link to their website and their summer schedule.

Cheers to all,

JUST SOMETHING I would like to know
by journey-on in1) how many of the gb's (and other higher-ups in the org) children, grandchildren, great-children went to college, which universities they attended, and what were their majors and other studies?.
2) how many of the gbs and/or their children and grandchildren (some are old enough to have grown grandchildren, i'm sure) are major stockholders or serve.
on the board of directors for corporations that have some association with the jws.. 3) how many of the gbs and/or members of their families own companies that service the needs of the watchtower society?.

Is religion itself logical? No. Is the fact that religion has such tremendous influence logical? Yes. From a purely evolutionary standpoint – religion is logical because of the primitive development of some of our mental capacities. The tendency for humans to invoke supernatural explanations for misunderstood natural phenomena is a vestigial relict reaction that we carry from our primitive ancestors. Forgive me for bringing evolutionary biology and paleontology into this discussion but I think it is appropriate. In the field of paleontology there is the concept of “juvenile” and “mature” species. Juvenile species are those which never reach their full evolutionary potential before they vanish from the geologic record. On the other hand, mature species reach their full evolutionary potential by adapting to many different environments or niches, radiating into many varieties, and persisting in the geologic record over vast periods of time. IMHO, humans are a juvenile species that has developed in a rather disjointed, uneven manner. We are like gawky teenagers, with all of this power to do things, but without the mental development or wisdom of years to control the power. The human brain has the capacity to think beyond superstition, but our thought processes (as a species) are developmentally stalled at some remote spot in our ancient past. It is frustrating to those who can rely strictly on empirical evidence to explain phenomena in our world, when religion still seems to have such uncanny control over people. I fully agree with you guys who have said that religion is a mechanism used to deny our own mortality.

I've wondered some of the same kinds of things.
There definitely seems to be an "in-group" within the Borg hierarchy that has tentacles that extend beyond the physical boundaries of Bethel.
My ex-wife's family were kind of peripherially connected to some of the more influential people in the Borg. It just always seemed like there was a group at the core around whom everything revolved. Additionally, I don't care who you are, if you have financial control over hundreds of millions of dollars, you're view of the world is altered.
When I was a kid, I remember seeing Knorr and some of the other GB arriving at a DCs in limos. When I asked an elder and his wife why they didn't show some humility and drive a VW like many pioneers did, I was told that they were the future kings who would rule the earth and that they deserved to be treated like royalty.
What a load of shit!!! But, that is what I mean about the inner circle living the high life at the expense of the R&F.
Cheers to all,
Alex

The end of the end- your thoughts?
by JimmyPage inso what does everyone think of the wt info from the past year comparing the time of the end to israel's escape from egypt?
it said (paraphrasing):"the wt may even give specific instructions that seem to lead us into the face of danger just as the israelites were led to the red sea with their enemies pursuing them from the other side.
" also what do you think of the past two year texts- "obey god as ruler rather than men" and "stand firm and see the salvation of jehovah"?

Hey Jimmy,
Same shit, different year...
Although, I do think that there was a time when they backed up their predictions with somewhat plausible Bible chronology (in the 50s, 60s &. early 70s). With the abandonment of the 1914 generation living to see the GT, that is all gone. Now their arguments are based on a very thin veneer of wishful thinking that barely obscures the fallaciousness of their logic.
Many of the elders I knew when I was still in were very logical in their thinking and I can't help believing that, if those kinds of servants are still on-board, they must be struggling mightily to suppress their doubts about the Borg's claims of being God's channel.
Maybe I am being overly optimistic, but I really think that the Borg is on the long (maybe, short), slow (maybe, fast) slide down into disintegration. It has happened to other Fundy religions and they are not immune to the effects of the internet and other soures of information that can blow their cover.
All the best to everyone and here's to getting the Led out,
Alex
