My life growing up as a witness...
by RFlores ini have just spent the last 4 hours reading many various posts and finally built up the courage to register and share my experiences.
i am only 20 years old, but my young age should not overlook my intelligence as an observing individual.
i was born into the religion of the jehova's witnesses.

circuit assembly / what did they say ??
by lancelink inthis afternoon i attended the ca, pioneer / pioneer / pioneer / pioneer, everything else you might need to do in life is not important.
focus on the new system, and making disciples !
and near the end of the session, the district overseer made a quick but noted comment.

district overseer made a quick but noted comment. Even though Armageddon may not come in our lifetime, we still need to remain focused on service, and the disciple-making work
Wow! An honest sounding statement from a D.O.!!
I grew up in the Truth Lie. I grew up hearing my dad talk about the new system coming in his lifetime. He is now in his late sixties. I don't hear him say that anymore.
The problem the Watchtower has is, how to keep the masses motivated to do a bunch of unpleasant chores without an imminent threat/reward.

They Keep You In By Using Guilt!
by minimus indo you realize that the organization keeps you captive through the manipulation of guilt?
they make you feel guilty because you didn't auxillary pioneer when you knew you could've.. they make you feel bad about yourself for masturbating although they know everyone does it.. they try to make you feel bad because you didn't contribute as much money as you could because you went on vacation....and so forth.. isn't it great to not feel guilt anymore over these things???

This is why I got out. I felt so guilty I broke. I got the point where I said, God if you're going to kill me just do it. Otherwise, shut the f*ck up.
I'm still alive. And I don't waste my time with guilt anymore.

'Easy' argument to disprove jw teaching? - Needing input...
by esw1966 inthinking out loud - my belief is that jw follows a false gospel.
that they got it wrong.
now, how to 'prove' that to a family member who is still jw?.

You're going about it the wrong way. You're trying to be logical. I think the best chance you got is to realize it's a cult. Approach it as you would trying to get anyone out of a cult. Trying to argue technicalities in doctrine is pointless cause they go to meetings that reinforced the doctrines. And to them, you're the one who is confused and doesn't understand the Bible.

Book of Revelation =By John. Was he just on drugs!!
by Witness 007 inon the island of patmos john see's visions of "seven headed beasts coming out of the sea" and 'harlots and diadems and locusts" and........stop this ride i want to get off!!!
why all the nostradamus non-sense?
why all the cloak and dagger mind freak?

Instead Jehovah scares the crap out of John and paints a Relalation that people will interpret 100 ways...there is no reason for this to be encoded. Why all the LSD visions in the bible just talk straight.
Excellent point. The God of the bible appears to be very inconsistent. He makes his word available to most of the world's population, except it is so cryptic we can't be certain that anyone can understand it. If it's such an important message why not just speak clearly??

This is the type of bullsh*t propaganda that pisses me off about the Watchtower. Let's assume this story is true. What about the countless times that countless witnesses have poured their heart into prayer and have gotten NOTHING out of it except disappointment? With odds like that, they would be just as honest encouraging everyone to play the lottery cause you never know, you just might win!!!!

Recurring nightmares of getting busted by elders, anyone???
by Hermano inthe last week or so, i've had recurring dreams of elders coming after either me or my wife (who is still a believer).
for example, i dreamt elders were accusing us of being apostates and were demanding a meeting with us.
they were citing lack of regular meeting attendance as the reason for their suspicions.

However, I have had dreams of getting recaptured . Generally, I would find myself going about and suddenly find myself at the Kingdumb Hell or A$$embly Hell, or in the car on the way to one of the above places. I would seek to leave the place as soon as I realize what I'm about to do, only to have Brother Hounder and his buddies show up. Escape is rarely possible by then, except by waking up.
Interesting.... I dont recall any dreams of participating in any JW activities, since I left. Maybe they damaged you more than they damaged me, WTWizard.
