Jesus (1 Tim 2:5) versus the "Faithful & Discreet Slave" (Matthew 24:45)
by Calebs Airplane in1 timothy 2:5 states that jesus is the only way to god.. matthew 24:45 is the parable of the faithful and wise servant which the watchtower conveniented converted into a prophecy about them to prove that the watchtower bible & tract society of new york is the only way to god.. and to make sure they get this point across to every jw they use a very special mental manipulation technique called... (wait for it)... ... ... repetition !!!.
00's: 205. mentions of 1 timothy 2:5 in watchtower magazine:.
00's: 22. so there you have it... in the last 6 decades, matthew 24:45 is mentioned 1,063 times, but 1 timothy 2:5 is only mentioned 216 times.

Would a JC turned violent get any publicity or covered up?
by Lied2NoMore inlets say you meet with a jc and in the midst of it you snap because you feel intimidated or bullied and start swinging chairs at the heads and limbs of elders and actually break bones or send one into a coma or worse accidentally kill one of them.
you think they would press charges?
think they would be advised by legal to keep it quiet to avoid negative publicity?

@Lied2NoMore I'm assuming they are calling you or coming to your house? Why not try to get a restraining order? Why not call the cops and/or local media and let them know you are being harrassed?

Put that joint down and go out in service. Have you prepared for the watchtower study? The service meeting? The ministry school? Have you read the latest watchtower and awake cover-to-cover? Plenty to do in the Lord's work.

He seems to be letting witnesses know that "the Watchtower Society was registered with the United Nations as an NGO." There are probably still some witnesses out there that dont know about this and it's a good way for them to start researching their leaders.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the new light regarding the FDS being only the GB is put in print, then that would undermine the authority of the FDS being tied to 1914 via 1918/1919. It makes little sense to say that the FDS was appointed in 1918/1919 but it was only in 2012 that the identity of the slave was really understood. (Not that it has to make any sense.... Bottom line is, whatever they say is new light will be accepted as such by 95% of the rank and file.)
If they are going to ditch 1914 then I would expect to not see it mentioned as much in the literature. Speaking of which, have they alluded to the FDS being selected in 1918/1919 recently? Maybe they'll ditch this first then bail on 1914.

Welcome! Stories like your give me hope. People can and do wake up. I'd be interested in knowing what triggered your awakening.
Interesting idea. I can see them trying to distance themselves from Russell. Not sure about dropping 1914. Although it may raise eyebrows as 2014 approaches, they dont seem to be backing away from it in the literature.

Do JWs really notice significant doctrinal change?
by keyser soze inall of these threads about the 'new light' regarding the fds has got me wondering.
as ex-jws, we've trained ourselves to notice such things.
we tend to treat them as if they're of great significance, even convey a certain level of optimism that it will actually wake some up, make some think, even lead to some sort of mass revolution within the ranks.. do rank-and-file jws really see any significance, or is it just wishful thinking?

Context is everything. New light to us is further confirmation that the old stuff was bullshit, just like we thought. New light to them is confirmation that as the end gets closer, the light gets brighter. Kinda sad. But if you take the new light out of the context of coming from the FDS then how do they react? They rejected it as apostate lies. Context is everything.

HOLY SPIRIT CONVERSATION STOPPERS...
by Confession ini just posted this on another thread, but thought i'd give it its own.
i hope some of the language is not offensive to anyone.. ----------------------------.
holy spirit conversations stoppers.... if someone asks why certain decisions are made in the congregation, perhaps you could say.... "jehovah's holy spirit is "guding and directing" the body of elders.".
