Hubby is Researching 607...
by cognac inwould you say that's the beginning of the end?
hubby's researching if the beginning date can be proven from the bible its starting date is 607. clearly, he won't find the answer.... here's hoping he will see the light... .

by JWoods inhere we have iirc more than four separate threads on 607, and of course a remonstration to not be unkind to the apologists.. why?
607 is of course complete nonsense - not even regular witnesses can remember the "logic" behind it and why it is even mentioned from time to time in their stupid "deep spiritual literature".
some time back this board was so badly infected with this junk by people like the "scholar" that it was painful to look over all of it and find an intelligent thread to participate in.

Mom puts heat on my daughter
by purplesofa inso my mom came down for a visit a few weekends ago, since i knew nothing about it till she got in town, i opted out on seeing her her.. she did not leave a very good lasting impression on my daughter and my grand daughter would not have anything to do with her (babies have such great intuition).
my mom has not been preaching much to my daughter, but left her quite a library when she left town.. .
yesterday she calls my daughter and grills her about why i don't go to meetings anymore, she is upset that i influenced her to get in the truth(which is not really true) and then give her a book to read (coc) saying bad things about the organization.. my daughter told my mom there were allot of coverups in the congo and older men doing inappropriate things with younger girls(i have not told many things on this board about my congo) my mom said that i did not love jehovah enough to let that bother me enough to keep me from going to the meetings.

Oh how I wish that were true. I might not have been dragged out into service every weekend from the age of four till I was 18. I never baptised. True is, children were used as tools in the field service. Your the same tool, baptised or not.

Landlord steals security deposit
by besty inhas anybody got any success stories about recovering this sort of debt?.
does anyone know of any companies that would buy the debt?.
i have already contacted an attorney so am familiar with the legal/court route - i'm interested in alternatives..

I have always applied my security deposit to my last months rent. Never been a concern for me.

...Good Food at Assemblys.....What Happened?..
by OUTLAW inin a time before many of you were born... assemblys had a great food... i left before the food started getting bad... .
i am totally amazed at reading... how food at assemblys got worse and worse... until finally food was`nt served at all... .
back in the day... food at assemblys was pretty dam good... there was quality cooking back then... jehovah`s witness`s actually looked forward to meals at assemblys... .

It was my last assembly, 73 or 74, when those poor quality cold cut sandwiches with more poor quality cheese than meat first made an appearance.
The food was very good and cheap before then. I worked the kitchen and food service lines, even handled trash removal just to get out of the seats. Yup, the speakers were everywhere as well as all the wiring that went with it.

Camping for conventions
by EmptyInside inoutlaw's post about convention food reminded me of my family's experiences camping for the conventions.
fortunately, they did this before i came along.
but, it seems the whole congregation stayed at one campground.

Must have been for the cheap way out. They were four day assemblies up to 74 when I left. The food was good but I couldn't drink the clorinated water. Especially after watching other people hook up to the bubblers. Gross.
There was no fun in camping when it was convention time, get ready early and get back at dark. The number of families kept increasing year after year.
