What about the carbon dating on the dead sea scrolls? Don't they accept the age of older copies of the bible to "prove" certain prophecies were written before hand?

carbon dating
by bluebell injust wondering and not wanting to take over perrys thread re: dinosaur dna.
i know the dubs poo poo the idea of carbon dating saying that it's all wrong and that the human and animal remains are not millions of years old because according to them mankind is 6,000 years oldish, is there anywhere where they contradict themselves on this, so that they accept carbon dating on some things and not on others?.

Aren't You Glad You're Out of the Organization??? Do You Now Have A Life?
by minimus infunny though, the only time i really think about the good old days is when i come here.
when i meet other exjws, quite often they seem consumed by their present situation.
sometimes i like to go out, have a couple of drinks and enjoy the food.

I'm mostly attracted to the human race. If one of my kids would want to marry a different race I'm against it, like if they would want to marry a goat or a dog or a horse, I think they should stick to the human race. On a serious note I'm from a mixed "race" I'm part Scottish, French and Native American and I turned out O.K.

IDENTITY=Behavior There are no CAUSELESS crimes or innocent evils
by Terry inwe often hear it said: love the sinner, but; hate the sin.. we try and reform the child molester.
we put career criminals through rehabiliation.
we let the drunk driver off with a fine and a warning over and over until an innocent family is wiped out.. why separate the deed from the doer?

I agree, to a certain point. Some people are accountable 100% for there actions, they knew it was wrong and did it anyway, convincing themselves that it was O.K. But others do things because they don't know any better. I think a good example is us, ex JWs, we acted a certain way because we used to think it was the wright way to act. An other example I think of is my dad. He used to beat the crap out of me and he was psychological abusive also. He thought that was the right way to raise a child and a lot of people used to think that way, but now that we know better there is no more excuses. Wen it comes to harming or killing people because of there belief, race or sexual preferences, there is no excuse because that person is not doing anything to hurt you. I think certain people that do evil things are evil, as for the rest maybe it's because they don't know any better.

Would you really want to live forever
by darth frosty ini just finished reading this book called the alchemist.
it is a very compelling story about following your dreams.
what i found most intriguing about the book is the depth of spirituality it brought out in me.

Highlander, don't you have to chop off the heads of your enemies to live forever?

The Watchtower and Creation
by AlanF init struck me this past year, with respect to jw teachings about the timing of genesis 1, that even in things that really have no impact on what most jws think of as "core doctrine" the watchtower society sticks to its traditions over what the bible says.
this was again brought home in the september, 2006 awake!
17 between me and the sons of israel it is a sign to time indefinite, because in six days jehovah made the heavens and the earth and on the seventh day he rested and proceeded to refresh himself.

Living forever would be great. The problem is when people don't live now. Someone once told me- whereever you are- be there.
Why not travel, get educated, enjoy watching your children play baseball, enjoy meeting and spending time with people. So many JW's fail to do these things because of the dream of the future (and the rules for getting there)
When my kid would say "I can't wait for the new world" my wife and I (in a moment of shock and frustration) would say - "Your life right now is pretty great."
! But living forever, sure why not? But only if it is not the JW way. I don't fear death. Why fear the end of fear?

very interesting
by bigdreaux ini am doing research to write a brochure.
i am trying to show from the bible, where witness doctrine is deceitful and wrong.
on a side note, if anyone wants to help, i would appreciate it.

Well I don't believe it ( by my alias I think it's obvious) but I think that's all you need because the bible is it's own enemy. If you want bible flaws there's a bunch at Internet infidels and evil bible.com.

I guess when you grow up w/ a certain Witness mindset like I've been indoctrinated w/ your whole life, it's hard to shake that and you think of the world in that mindset..
It's called a "flash back", don't worry I get it once in a will too. It's getting better. It's hard to deprogram that kind of thinking wen your raised such a way.
