One of the local anchors said that although the parents are fighting the ruling they might win, just look at how many men in the Hispanic community are named Jesus.

Is it Ok to name a baby ' Messiah'?
by rip van winkle in.
a tennessee judge has ordered a baby boys name to be changed from messiah after deciding it is a title that has only been earned by one person and that one person is jesus christ.. .
on sunday, jaleesa martin, the babys mother, told the station that she planned to appeal the decision.. i never intended on naming my son messiah because it means god and i didn't think a judge could make me change my baby's name because of her religious beliefs, she said.. http://usnews.nbcnews.com/_news/2013/08/12/19986524-baby-cant-be-named-messiah-judge-rules?lite.

Something odd just happened when I logged on!
by tornapart ini typed in my name, password and the captcha, expecting to see my name come up in the top right corner and what i actually saw was someone else's name!
(the name was another member of this board).
i looked at it for a few seconds feeling a bit puzzled and not sure what to do about it and as i looked it automatically changed (whithout me doing anything) back to my own name.. has anyone else had this happen to them?

New York Tourist Crap Highlights The Watchtower buildings in Brooklyn
by steve2 inwell i'm a day shy of having spent one week in new york - my first time.
what a dazzlingly vibrant and noisy city - one that never sleeps.
new yorkers rightly proclaim this metropolis as one of a kind.

Bells - You're staying at the Plaza for a few days . . . WOW !! It was bought about ten or more years ago by some gazillionaire from Iran or Egypt that tried to turn it into a residential setting, but I don' t think that went to well, earlier this year, when they were doing renovations, instead of the usual scaffolding you see around the city, THe Plaza had scaffolding around it that looked like you were looking at the actual hotel with the imprint of the hotel with windows on the scaffolding. . . now that's fancy, even the scafffolding that's been around St Patrick's Cathedral for more than five years isn't that fancy!!

The ones who participate in CONvention...is it all a load of hypocrisy?
by MissConfused ini am talking about the ones who get special mentions or interviews or part in assemblies and conventions, they are usually stars of the congregation at least as acknowledged by boe.
when i had interacted personally with these people, i did not find them special in any way.
they neither reflected any true love for j, but were quite the very opposite and ambitious to be the best in "the organization", with very little humility.

is it all a load of hypocrisy?
But of course, it's also a boys club and many others titles fit as well.
My mother gave her experience at a DC (before she even dragged down my father and he eventually got dipped and became and Elder) I've been wondering these last few years since I've been reading here how the majority of experiences are partially if not totally made up, I just wonder if she was asked to alter her story since I wasn't attending then. I'm sure even if I had asked her I know her brainwashed mind would've said "no, of course not" even if they did hand her a script.

I then said, "All religions are crook and I'm done with them!" and he heartily agreed!
Needless to say, he was not including the JWs in that group which is why he heartily agreed, but, of course you were . . . what a pompous, smug bastard.

Personality Disorders Attracted to JWism
by skeeter1 inare there personality disorders that find the watchtower an appealing fit?
i have read it before that people with personality issues are attracted to extreme religions, and that extreme religions can make a "normal" person mentallly ill. .
to start off with, i was reading about obsessive-compulsive disorders and this "profile" seemed like the "normal" jws i know:.

I remember back when it happened in 1968 I definitely remember it being read at the end of the meeting one night, basically saying/asking if anyone knew anything about Sirhan Sirhan being a JW or being affiliated with the JWs

When I read the article in the paper today ,especially the "I believe people should be able to questions things" I said to myself "hmmm, this rings a bell, geee, I wonder why"?
(btw, not catching on to what Son of Sam has to do with Leah Remini's view of Scientology)

You should listen to the interview, it's very interesting, but he not surprisingly says that they had a relationship for a while and I guess Loretta got the itch for a younger man a while back (maybe she still does)
