You Believe in God? Who cares?
by proplog2 ini think this is a good thread to post feelings about the various evolution/creation and atheism/theism disputes on this discussion board.. i don't really care whether most people believe in god or not.
all i care about is that science keeps doing its job.
most theists are going to contribute almost nothing to the next stage of scientific progress.

Why can't I say what I really want too when faced with a JW?
by winnie inabout 15 minutes ago, i was in the video shop when i saw a witness i knew from 5 years ago standing next to me.
assuming he was no longer a witness as he was looking at all the porn movies, i start asking him how he's been.
he then insinuates that the only reason i have 5 kids is for the social security payments.... i then come home furious...and yell at my family!.

We don't pray for God to save the world, but we believe it will take the labor and imagination of good people to save this world for the next generation- our children.
I like this, Moshe. Maybe this is God, the collective spirit of his image (us). It's up to us to save the world because we are the physical manifestation of the Spirit. If you're looking for a being outside, a big G in the sky, he's not there. But he's in and around and through everything and manifests through our light and love.

I don't want to get into another debate about gun control. It's a never-ending argument, but let me point this out: The issue of whether or not to ban guns is not just about the CRIME aspect, which is the focus of most people that argue for strict gun controls. I've said this before and I'll say it again:
Americans sometimes go about our cushy daily lives under an apathetic cloud, believing that our government is invulnerable to a take over by tyrannical or sinister forces. Why do you think our founding fathers wanted the people to be able to have guns? Some argue the militia wording in the clause, but if you study the Federalist Papers and other writings, it becomes clear that the American populace was meant.
Food for thought: Had the Jews in the ghetto of Warsaw been allowed to own firearms, Hitler's SS forces would have met with so much resistance that a successful uprising may have prevented much of the attorcities that we are now so familiar with.
All I'm saying (before another hot-headed debate on gun control gets started) is that CRIME IS NOT THE ONLY ISSUE TO CONSIDER! JUST THINK ABOUT IT.

I'm not disfellowshipped...I'm a fader. But never in a million years would I allow them to think I'm pained by their stupid little cult practice. When I saw one, I'd make sure I put on my happy face and if I know them, I'd walk straight up and say "hello". I don't have to respect their right to shun me. I would never be rude or obnoxious, but I would damn well say "Hello, how are you?" And no matter how bad a day I may be having, I would exude joy and well being. They would never have a reason to gossip about "how sad she looked"!

i only have your word for it that you had your experience.. and the books you cite don't help, either, because i've only got the author's word that he's telling the truth.
how can i believe him if i haven't experienced it myself?.

I didn't lead him one way or the other.
It's completely different from how most of us were raised. We were told to believe it. It's nice that now it's my choice, and it will always be up to my kids what they choose to believe.
Now that's parenting!
I like the way you chose not to discredit the lady's experience, but guided him to look at it objectively. NO WONDER HE'S GOT A GENIUS IQ....you allow him to actually use his own mind with just the right amount of guidance from you.

Getting on the elders nerves...
by Alligator Wisdom in...without doing anything unscriptural.. what made them jealous, nervous or afraid of your behavior that wasn't against anything in the bible?.
for me, i find plenty of information on this forum way before any in the congregation (or circuit/district for that matter).
everything from new campaigns, death of gb members, letter to the body of elders (as in the new wt format arrangement starting next year), question from readers in wt magazines that haven't even been delivered to the congregation, ordering the new revelation book in paperback with the revisions already in it while the entire congregation is cutting and pasting out of the kingdom ministry insert...etc.. how do i know all of these things?

further, the governing body of this corporation interposes itself between the mediator, jesus, and the rest of jehovah's (christian) witnesses for the purpose of "feeding them (spiritual) food at the proper time.. the official word of jesus christ is represented in the watchtower's policy on blood transfusions.. in 1998 this statement was made:.
jehovah's witnesses do not accept whole blood, or major components of blood, namely, red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and plasma.

I've read this scripture before and thought the exact same thing. But you state it so eloquently. I can't understand. I am baffled. I am blown away. I am amazed. I am heartsickened. How can a parent let a child die over this! How can an otherwise intelligent person believe this nonsense! Thanks for this post.
