  so oompa got df'd this week...

  no call to invite me to a committee meeting...no notification of deciding i should be df'd....no telling my jw wife of the announcement...not a chance to appeal what i did not even know what was going on...my mini-serve son is devasted....he even researched it....told me to go to page 153-154 of the od book...never heard of it but it is a green hardback given to all who are to be baptized.

  wow...the elders broke every rule in this book as to my case.... i have no respect for these men that can take away your jw family without even telling you they are going to.

  my jw son has now begged me to meet with my committee...even though there is prob zero chance they can reverse the decision...that chance is from when they let you know...and you have to appeal by letter within 7 days (i cant make this stuff up!!

  Why Don't JW Congregations have a Choir?

  even if it were just four or five good singers that practice during the week and get to know the new songbook well, this would benefit the whole congregation.

  music is such a vital part of the overall emotional connection to the gathering, a well-rehearsed choir singing along with the congregation would encourage and uplift, don't you think?.

  what is the society's reasoning for not doing this?.

  i can remember one pompous elder asking me "how can you be depressed after sittiing through such a wonderful meeting?!!".

  i only ever felt relief at getting away, what about you?.

  No, except when the music was sung just right and everyone knew the melody AND the words. I felt uplifted then.

  I have thought about the concept of Time a lot. It started with a meditation on the scripture that says "a thousand years is as one day with God" (paraphrased). Once I got out of the JW interpretation of that scripture, I began to contemplate the possibilities of the deeper more esoteric meaning.

  Time is the distance between cause and effect. On our physical plane in the domain that affects earth and man, we have constructed the means to measure this by use of the luminaries visible within that domain.

  However, outside our measurable "universe", we as yet are not aware of the means by which Time is measured.

  Oooo....One of my favorite asanas is the Cobra. (Does that mean the JWs associate it with Satan and the serpent in the Garden of Eden? uhmm )

  If you carry your tension in your back and spine, the convex stretch of this position does wonders. Do it slowly though.

  #1 Ever hear of spacing your kids out, lady! Three stair-step kids is just asking for problems, not to mention chaos!

  #2 Okay. So you hit retirement, Mr. Red Suspenders, and you didn't save or prepare because Armageddon was supposed to have come and gone by now. Should have got out a long time ago while the gettin' was good. Sorry. But, every day you wake up breathing is a new day to get started living (and I don't mean going door to door).

  #3 Guy on the end! Get over there and help your wife with those kids, dipshit. She would be a lot more content, and trust me....tonight you will be, too.

  #4 Hey! Young man with the folded arms. You would be a lot more content if you would get a better haircut and lose the bling. Is that your dad talking to your attorney again trying to get you out of yet another DUI?

  #5 Old man yelling on the phone. The stress is gonna kill 'ya. Lose some weight while you're at it and let the kid figure out his own problems. Ever hear of tough love?

  #6 Girl at the top left. It's just a job, deary. Stop fretting. Go, do your 8 hours, leave it, then go home. It will all be there tomorrow, trust me.

  #7 And lastly, to the iridescent lady in blue: You may seem content now, but when the high wears off, you'll realize you're still sitting in the middle of a nasty cheap stained couch surrounded by a bunch of whiney, screaming, unhappy malcontents. Then what! Another meeting, another Bible study, another month of auxiliary pioneering (come on April!!!). On second thought, take another hit, dear.

  My Yoga practice was one of the things the women in the congregation loved to criticize. Yes, there is a spiritual component to it, but not a connection to spirits. Don't let them discourage you. It's wonderful for all healthy aspects of the whole being: body, mind, emotion, and yes...spirit. You will love it and benefit greatly!

  I don't think it's feminism per se. I think it's the whole social structure that has evolved (or devolved).

  I think those of this generation crave DRAMA like the craving for drugs. They are so tied to and permanently plugged into all the social media avenues, it's ridiculous. Reality TV, celebrity news, social networking, dating websites, etc. They go through sexual trists, short term relationships, friends with benefits, (you name it) and then they share all this drama with EVERYBODY (or just Friends, or just Friends of Friends...lol).

  It's like watching a Keystone Cops silent movie where everybody is bumping into each other and wrecking everything. The rules are constantly changing and it becomes impossible to figure out what is going to happen next.

  helpppppp please

  so im in a predicament and seeking help from a few of you willing to make a phone call tommorow to the society during office hours.

  ok so im here in pineville louisiana but were going to be frozen over as of tommorow night and friday night with snow ice and sleet.

  the pipes on our house rboke yesterday because we also had a storm yesterday and the pipes broke overnite so now we have a mes.

  This post breaks my heart. This just shows you the mind-boggling control the WTS has over a person's life, especially those that can't think for themselves, make a decision for themselves, or use their own powers of reason.....totally dependent on instructions from Mother. They evidently didn't even understand that when the weather is going to be that cold in an area that's not normally so frigid, you drip the water to keep the pipe from freezing. Their independent thinking capacity is next to nothing.

  It's sad really. They sound almost afraid of how they are going to be judged if they don't attend the assembly!!!!

  Will there be cars in the New System?

  growing up as a jw i always imagined the new system (tm) as being just like it's presented in the literature (tm).

  i thought we'd all be hanging around with dorky looks on our faces, petting tigers and panda bears all day while we eat fruit and practice our dorky grins.. i've never seen a pic from the society (tm) showing cars or planes (or other forms of transport) in the literature (tm).

  what did you imagine as far as transportation in the new system (tm)?
