What I find amazing is how the organization has managed to string its followers along all these years.

Quendi: When one has been a witness for a long long time (I was raised in it), you never lose the ability to know exactly how they think. We lived and breathed it.

It was an addiction to the kool-aid and it penetrated our entire psyche. We bought it hook, line, and sinker and got high on the promise of something new and exciting. When it wasn't forth-coming, we began to search for it in every Watchtower, every Special Talk, every new release and talk at the assembly and convention. Like an addict pulling out drawers and throwing things on the floor looking for that one little fix, we needed that tidbit to keep us going.

The GB and their minions know this and totally understand the psychology of it. They string the addicts along with talks like this one from Loesch and tiny little "fixes" in the literature to keep the r&f shooting up the drivel.

What I find amazing is that any of us ever kicked the habit and saw through the crazy intoxication of it all!

If I were still drinking the Kool-Aid, this would probably get me all pumped up with reassurance that the GB is giving us our "food in proper season"!

When the GB speak with such authority and they emphasize the use of the envisioning aspect of your mind, those that are under the influence can't help but visualize the beauty of it all. But, when your high starts to fade, they know just how much Kool-Aid and what flavor to inject to keep you pumped. They're masters!

If you are referring to the overgrown weedy gravesite, it's because the JWs have absolutely zero concern for the dead body. When my mother died, my JW family wanted to flush her ashes down the drain, saying, it's just dust....and she (the person) is in the memorial tomb and will be resurrected in the new system. I refused to allow it and took her ashes with me. They are uncaring and disrespectful when it comes to the body.

i was reading again the parapble jesus spoke to his disciples about the sheep and goats.

when i read it, it was plain and simple in my eyes.. 34 then the king will say to those on his right, come, you who have been blessed by my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world.

35 for i became hungry and you gave me something to eat; i got thirsty and you gave me something to drink.

My dad wont make it too much longer, advise/experiences needed

hello all at jwn,.

so my mom called to tell me that my dad wont be able to come back home, he has been on kidney dialysis (along with having congestive heart failure and diabetes and dimentia...) but now he is breaking down and will have to be admitted to a hospice center for the remainder of his time left (without dialysis wont be two weeks).

most of you know my situation, faded (not dfd or dad) but most of my family treats me like i am disfellowshipped except my mom and she keeps getting warnings from elders to cut off dealings with me- my dad is inactive but as head of the household he demands that i be able to visit and take care of mom and dad (so my mom must be submissive to his wishes).

Coffee House Girl, so sorry to hear about this sad situation in your life. I hope you find the strength to do what you KNOW you want to do....be right there by your dad's side, show love to your mother and other family members regardless of their attitude, comfort them and stand beside them.

As far as the others (the JW fools), be cordial but aloof. Don't allow them to draw you into a religious discussion. They may THINK they have as much right as you (we all know what kind of attitude they display), but they DO NOT. You are the daughter and your blood trumps their perceived connection to YOUR family.....every time.

You can seek comfort from Coffee House Guy in private. No need to push this just yet, but let him know you need his words of encouragement and his understanding of the situation. This religion has a way of putting a dark cloud over everything.

My advice....don't sweat the JW fools for one second. Be there for your family and YOU show them what family bonds mean.

recently the good and gracious gubbering body set up a month for special activity (april ?).

anywho to show how kind and loving they are they graciously allowed for the opportunity to be referenced as pioneers with a reduced hour requirement.

What was achieved was a reaffirmation of solidarity with the mother ship. When you have accomplished a mission you committed yourself to, you feel even more motivated. It was make-busy work to keep the flock focused on the organization and their eyes on the prize.

My sister and her husband did it, and she was sooooo proud that she made her hours. She had that "I did it!" attitude, and this will keep her motivated now through the summer conventions. She will probably have an urge to open up her pocketbook a little wider, too (a side benefit for the borg.)

i can remember a long while back sitting down with a one volue comprehensive printing of pastor russell's studies in the scriptures.. i decided i would try and be as objective and neutral as i could possibly be.

i would begin at the beginning and form impressions on the spot.. well, let me tell you!.

It's like walking through a beautiful lush green field of grass one morning then suddenly stepping into a pile of dog doo. Ruins the whole morning!
