  They are in FEAR right now. They KNOW that they are being exposed for who and what they truly are.

  Don't be surprised if they continue with even more hate-mongering articles directed against those that have made a choice to get out of her (the org.)

  The real Truth will set you free. Real, valid, authentic information is anathema to them. The Governing Body and all their minions are indeed on the warpath, but they will spin it like it's a spiritual war against them. Unfortunately, the blind will continue to be blind and will eventually fall off the cliff with them.

  i have never been df'ed, but i have had many experiences reading the faces of newly df'ed ones.. their faces are always the same.

  defeated by a foe that they never had a chance with in the beggining; a raping so-to-speak.

  It's wise to be overly cautious if you're trying to protect your family bonds. I, too, have noticed these kinds of posts. I tend to stay away from them. The threads connecting me and my sister and a few others are tattered enough. Don't want to risk the possibility that someone could put 2 and 2 together.

  I know if I mentioned my favorite car, ALL my family members would instantly know who journey-on really is.

  The disfellowshipped person is highly esteemed in the Christian congregation and their reinstatement is greatly desired. You compared the arrangement with the criminal justice system where there are no second chances. Even if the person is sorry and intends not to repeat the offense, they're still subject to criminal prosecution if deemed guilty in a court of law. If we lived in a perfect world, there would be no need for prisons and the disfellowshipping arrangement.

  Super Spook, you are looking at only one aspect...an offense or act so reprehensible that it violates the moral code of conduct, an act for which one should logically be repentant. Then, perhaps, in that case, the congregation would be within some reasonable bounds to encourage reinstatement.

  However, what if the disfellowshipping offense is simply that the individual has read, studied, researched, and even prayed about the teachings and finds that they no longer believe the WTS is "The Truth" and desires to leave and not be known as a Jehovah's Witness any longer. How merciless to be faced with loss of family and friends because of one's sincere spiritual search!

  As I have stated many times on this board, I see nothing wrong in the doctrine of disfellowshipping...meaning, announcing to the congregation that "so and so" is no longer to be considered a Jehovah's Witness. However, the act of shunning and treating those who have chosen a different path like they're dead or invisible, is very un-Christlike and at worst, evil. Especially when it comes to family members, it is unnatural. The way they twist the scriptures and manipulate the minds of highly impressionable brainwashed people is unconscionable! The fear in that organization of displeasing someone is over the top crazy. It borders on paranoia. They are to be pitied.

  last october, i got an invitation to a friends wedding where i grew up in portland, oregon.

  Just let it go. JWs are inept socially on so many levels, it's unbelievable. I'm sure some a**hole elder got hold of him after the invitation was sent out and messed with his mind (not to mention his heart) and gave him some kind of ultimatum.

  If you have a chance to talk to him again, though, don't act like it didn't hurt. He should know that it DID hurt and that he crapped on a long-time true friend who was willing to go the extra mile (3,000) for a promise made a long time ago. YOU'RE the one with integrity and class.

  So angry with myself right now....

  earlier today i was at a local tyre shop standing outside getting a couple of my wheels replaced when this 'sister' who i haven't seen for a number of years decided to approach me.

  i didn't even recognise her at first because her hairstyle was different and she was wearing these oversized shades, but this is someone who was always funny with me from day one and hardly ever said a word to me even when i used to be in her book study group that was in her home back in the 90s.. anyway, she asked if it was me and then she said who she was in case i didn't remember.

  she told me she saw my sister at the memorial last night (my sister who is inactive wasn't even going to attend that particular memorial, but because this f**king elder i used to hate called her out of the blue to "encourage" her to attend, she went along) blah blah blah but didn't get to speak to her for too long.. so she asked me what congregation i go to but then quickly asked if i'm still in the "truth".

  Trust me. You did not waste their "time". They got to count every minute of it on their monthly report. Even the lengthy emails they wrote were probably counted as "time".
