Now that would actually shock me if it is true. I cannot see JWs saying that Muslims are worse than any other religion that is not JW.

You can't handle the truth
by teejay inmy kid sister (42 years-old) is still in good standing (i guess) but is very inactive -- hasn't been to a meeting in years.
however, she's very supportive of the organization and dislikes any negative information i pass along to her about the society, so i don't.. recently, an email dialog we've had on a topic not related to the society has led her to the slightly unnerving realization that jusssst maybe she hasn't been told the whole truth about 'the truth.
' since years ago i gave her my personal copy of crisis of conscience with zero positive affect (not only did she not read a single page but destroyed it), i am still reluctant to help her out of the current mists of her confusion and ignorance.

Big,
excellent point! No one likes to realize that what they have believed to be true for some many years is not so...whether it be a religion or anything else. I liken it to finding out that your mate has been cheating on you. You may see the signs, but you don't want to believe it because, hey, this is your mate...someone you trust!
Or, the analogy that a parent is not perfect.

jwmatch.com
by obiefernandez ini am surprised that there hasn't been a discussion here (not that i can find anyway) about jwmatch.com.
not only are they self-proclaimed, "the world's largest witnesses online community!
" (sound familiar?

Wow....boy do I wish I had the internet when I was a practicing witness! HAHAHAH!!! Actually, I would have never gone to the site because I was a good girl, heehee.
I actually met my husband online...but it was by accident, serendipity if you will. I was actually looking around to see what else was out there, and ended up meeting a lot of whackos and nice people in a metaphysics chat room. What truly brought us together was not our curiosity about spiritual things ( he is agnostic) but our ability to be smart asses about any subject.
This really is a riot! Mabye all those poor young sisters will be able to find a good looking guy in their age group. I know where I grew up it was about 100 sisters to 2 guys. A lot of May - December marriages...and also bad marriages because it was considered better to marry poorly in the truth than well out in the world.

Sydney BBQ Aftermath
by Stephanus inwell folks, it was a great day today in sunny wollongong (can i say that, ozzie?)!
many apostates turned up (albeit belatedly, much to mrs ozzie's dismay!
) and after the mandatory exchanging of secret handshakes and gestures, the bbq began.

for married people only
by teejay inthere's a running debate i have going with my wife.
i have the opinion that it is very possible for married people to have friends of the opposite sex without the idea of a sexual encounter entering into the picture.
she disagrees, saying that once you're married, the marriage mate should be enough to offer you all you need in the way of companionship, conversation,etc.. let's say you're running an errand at the mall and happen to see someone of the opposite sex that you have known for years (your mate knows/doesn't know them... doesn't matter) and you decide to grab a cup of coffee and have a two-hour chat.

I have no problem with my husband having female friends...although I do get jealous, haahaa!
I must admit that it would bother me if he had coffee with her for two hours, or really anyone for any matter without letting me know where he was.
I think a nice rule of thumb is that you don't spend a great deal of time with your opposite sex friends alone, out of respect for your mate.

Oh cool! The one with the school schedule for the year!
Thanks...I like to know what is going on without actually going or probing my mom with a lot of questions. Every time I do it just makers her think I am going to go back, and breaks her heart every time she realizes that I am a curious observer, no longer a devote witness.

What I always like about the Mormoms was that they only sent young, good looking boys to the doors....yummy!

JW Culture has Changed!
by Amazing inin the late 1960s, i became a jw.
there was a sense of intellectual freedom and more openness to discuss various spiritual and even some social topics.
there was reliance on watch tower literature as an authority, but still the soiciety seem to confine its concerns and left the rest up to individual jws to decide.

Amazing,
Thanks for your post! It was interesting to see how things from your experience have changed.
My whole experience with the JWs was that we should not read apostate literature, but it is interesting how things really changed when the internet became popular. One really should take what they read with a grain of salt online, but the JWs seem to have gone overboard.

Well, look at it this way. Conjugal visits, and he will never get out, so she doesn't have to have to submit to him on every little decision.
What was she thinking???

When my brother and sisters were little, my mother used to make picture books for them out of pictures from the Paradise and other colorful brochures. She also had us mark down in a notebook how many times we heard Jehovah, Jesus or another keyword for that meeting used. It worked with most of us. But she would always take us out back in the library for a little bit when needed..because kids just usually cannot sit that still very long...awake anyway.
One time my brother sang the theme to the Batman song during the prayer. hehee!
