Can the average JW name their Governing Body?
by sacolton ini don't think i met one jw who can name the governing body ... which is strange since they basically surrender their conscience to them.
.
could you (without cheating) name each member of the governing body?.

Your Dreams
by LouBelle inwe all have dreams - some of us see those dreams to fruition.. my constant dream/desire is to have a little bit of land in the country somewhere, with a cow (bell around her neck and all), some chickens running around, a veggie patch, a herb patch.
a safe home.
friends popping in.. a very simple dream..

Mrsjones5 - hoping and praying that your dreams will come true.
Nice topic though. I was talking to my wife last night. We have some dreams of what we will do with our lives as we approach retirement in the 10 years or so. What we did agree was that you have to live your dreams every day; we have known so many people who lived for their retirement only to die all too soon. Life is for living each day - and for planning your dreams too. -

The dreaded assembly experiences ....
by eyeslice insitting through the items with experiences at the one day special assembly day last weekend reminded me just how dreadful having to handle experiences at the assemblies were.
when i was an elder, i used to dread getting assembly assignments that included experiences; they were always so fake.. .
nothing ever happened in our circuit that was ever noteworthy or outstanding, and you usually ended up re-hashing the same old stuff from years ago.. .

I guess it is the same the world over; despite all the effort of the preaching work, nothing much ever happens really. -

Nov 15 WT - stumbled over a teaching? There's no where else to go!!!
by truthseeker ini just read the nov 15, wt - what a laugh.. so they admit some leave over their teachings and then they say there's no where else to go.
what a joke - they are liars.. .
was it a problem with a teaching?.

The "no where to go" line is simply to keep the rank file in line. If you keep telling the same old lie then eventually people will believe it to be true

Now the WT Society is Telling Witnesses- Don't Worry too Much About Health
by flipper inin the nov.15th watchtower that a lurking witness friend i have on the board sent me , it really guilts the witnesses into not worrying about their health but pushes them to do more, more, more.
it has a disgusting picture of perfect martyrdom of a sister in a wheelchair witnessing to a lady at her door with the caption, " despite health problems , jehovah's people find joy in the ministry.
a few twisted points i wanted to share to show you how mind controlled the witnesses are in even controlling it's members view of showing concern for their health !

I think everyone here has touched on the salient point that it is the emotional and psychological pressure that that the society bring to bear that is unjustifiable.
However, there is a point that we shouldn't miss and that is that people of religious faith do appear to be better equipped when it comes to facing illness and it associated physical and emotional pain. I have know some witnesses who despite being very poorly were amazing optimistic and strong despite their illness. I would say good on them. -

Well, it's 7:45 am and I have made up our packed lunch, while Mrs Eyeslice puts on her make-up and finest. I haven't shaved for a couple of days so I am beginning to look like my avatar. Can't wait!

Bedroom Laws
by gumby ini found an interesting site on you tube i thought some of the newer ones here might enjoy.
i myself had forgotten about a very serious matter that the wtbts had allowed for about 10 years that tore apart families regarding sexual practices amoung married couples, then changed their policy with no apologies to all those whose lives were tore apart.. here is the link.

Been to to lots of places both as a Witness and a non-witness. I gave a talk as a 16 year old precocious young JW at a Methodist church. Have visited cathedrals, Hindu and Sheik temples and Moslem mosques. JWs fail to understand that religion is about a personal relationship with God and not with physical location.
