An Interesting YouTube debate I had with a JW

so most of you have probably seen my youtube video what you should know about jehovah's witnesses, which can be found here.

naturally, this draws quite a negative response from the jw community, but this particular person decided to send me a personal message.. you wanna talk smack about witnesses or anyone in general you better have your facts straight.

everything you said is taken almost enitrly out of context to our true practices.

1. the elder i was in a bissness with decided a hand shake was not a contract, and paid me $500 dollars instead of the $3,000 he should have....i felt so stupid, but quit with him and treated him like a disfellowshiped person since....also he would pay me half a days wage when i worked from 8am till 3pm ???????

when told about this he said sorry but "couldn't work out how to re-emburse the lost hours.".

2. my elderly mum sold some furniture when moving, to a sister who promised to pay from her single parent pension in small installments........nope!

In my younger years I had more than my share of jws ways of doing buisness. They are always trying to get something for nothing. My favorite is they try to invite you over for dinner in exchange for doing some work on their home. Now when they try that I laugh at them and tell them I will figure up just how many meals that would take. They are always wanting to borrow things. Always trying to sell you crap. I found that if a jw calls you out of the clear blue they want something. What buisness I did with them I always got screwed over. They are the worse for trying to beat the irs. They will try to beat you out of your wages. That is why they like to hire their own kind. All of my experiences may just be mine, but I have heard this for years and now I hear it lot on this site.

My rule now for the past 30 years is that I do not do buisness with witnesses. I broke my rule a few years ago with and elder friend of mine. He is the most honest person I have ever met in the organization which I think makes him very rare. I wrote up an iron clad contract, and we sat down and went over every detail . Never had one problem with him.

What is it about most jws that they think all other jws owe them everything and should do everything for nothing. I have never been able to do that to anyone.

"Even if it isn't true" - how many of you heard this one recently?

i remember first hearing it after the generation change of 95.. a sister answered up at the wt and said "even if armageddon isn't coming, its still the best way to live.".

i have heard others say: "even if it isn't true, it's still the best way of life.".

my mother said it a few weeks ago!

They should make next years text to read, "It may not be the truth , but isn"t it a wonderful way to live." No scripture needed.

no more preaching to be done

today, i heard my token sunday talk.. the brother somehow brought up the following:.

"many are speculating that there are many changes coming soon...... including the end of preaching work....... well, just because the faithful and discreet slave has ended the weekly study weeting........... this does not mean that all other things will cease.

I dont know why the society doesn't heed the scriptures , matt. 10:14, mark 6:11, luke 9:5, acts 13:51, especially in america. No one here is listening.

Falling Asleep at Assemblies

yes i have dozed off many times when i used to attend.

most of the time kept the shades on as we used to have outside assemblies.

the thing was not to slide off the chair, drop your head forward or snore.. i've seen some brothers/sister hitting a serious lean to the left or right as they slept and then they'd jerk awake, only to lean again.. some people had sneaky methods.

I finally realized that by sleeping at the meeting I was finally making good use of my time.

Latest Witness comments about no more Bookstudy- Rejoicing and happy????

i've asked afew witnesses at work and around town about no more bookstudy.........they are all so relieved!

one elder with four kids said..."it will make things alot easier, with rushing home from work, the society understands our needs.

"......another brother said: "it's great, now we can go to the cinema on half price tuesday's!

I think the majority of sane jws said a quite 'praise the lord'.

So what's the deal about Jdubs always being late

i noticed early on that many dubs are late for everything almost all the time what do you suppose the reasons are?

I think a lot of it has to do with the newer generations. It is as though just being around the time is ok. My kids are like that. If I want them to be at my house for dinner etc. then I just make the time earlier, then they are on my time.

I do think it is worse among jws. Some at the hall are always late. My experience with jws are they are mostly just irrresponsible period, but that may just may be opionion.

Nobody is talking about the Generation change!!

every time i have raised the noolite on this, it is met with blank looks and no comment.. on the phone it has been met with silence while they wait to see why i am talking about it.. has anybody else noticed this - it is a trend that less and less witlesses discuss doctrines and teachings when socializing.. could it be that they don't want to acknowledge a creeping disernment that they have been strung along, and so the gibbering buddy can no more be trusted on this claim than all the other failures, or is it that they are afraid of being called apostos?.

one elderly sister (90) who really thought she would never die, and is now, when i said i was atonished at the recent changes in 1935 annointed, generation and now no book group, just waited at the other end of the phone..

I agree with blueblade. The society keeps hammering that the end is near, but everything they are changing says it is not. The generation can keep on going, the annointed can keep being gathered, and the sheep and the goats are not being seperated. It is all moving away from the 1914 thing.

I don't think they can talk about it because they don't understand it.In fact I don't think they understood any of it before the changes and now they are really confused.

One of the very rare things Rutherford was correct about, religion is trap and a snare and as far as I am concerned that includes them all. Why would anyone entrust their spiritual well being to another human being or group. And why do they want to take the responsibility for you. Everyone I know has their own problems and most are worse than mine and thats saying a lot.

Revelation - It's Grand Climax Adjusted

having received a copy of the new watchtower library cd, i decided to do a comparison of what actually changed with the updated revelation book.

i was expecting some significant changes with some 'new light' for the 'trumpet blasts' or other 'important' stuff, but in all, i thought the changes were mostly quite mundane, though some seem a little crafty for different reasons.

any thoughts.... throughout.
