What do you think of Baha'i Faith?
by Eyebrow2 injust a little curious....i had gone to one of the websites i found by searching baha'i faith online.. i found a site that wrote on 9/12/01 saying:.
the destruction of the trade towers and the attack on the pentagon and its related events should be considered a terrible warning for the safety, security and salvation of humankind.. the second international baha'i council condemns the use of terrorism and violence as a means of change, but we have tried to warn the people of new york for years of these coming disasters, accurately predicting on national television the first act of terrorism against the trade towers in february of 1993. these acts of horrific destruction are only the beginning if the governments and peoples of the world do not submit to the authority of god and his messengers and their clear and evident proofs.. what is up with that???
i know nothing really about it so i figured i would pose the question on this board: is this religion a bit fanatical?

The last two female Jehovah's Witnesses escaped from the extremist Abu Sayyaf group after nine months of jungle captivity in the southern Philippines. The women were among six JW's kidnapped last August. The two men were beheaded. Two other women escaped last month.
Why doesn't it make the news to hear about the thousands of mind-controlled escapees from the extremist Jehovah Witness cult, who have been in their power for decades?

Latest "Light" JWs not worthy of Jesus
by Faraon inbrothers, matthew 10:37 anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.
matthew 23:9 and do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one father, and he is in heaven.. .
jehovah is our father, our only father, according to 23:9. yet, jesus clearly says that if we love jehovah more than jesus, we are not worthy of him.

Brothers,
Matthew 10:37 Anyone who loves his father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves his son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me
Matthew 23:9 And do not call anyone on earth 'father,' for you have one Father, and he is in heaven.
Jehovah is our father, our only father, according to 23:9. Yet, Jesus clearly says that if we love Jehovah more than Jesus, we are not worthy of him. From now on, at least 51% of our songs will be about Jesus.
We neglected to honor Jehovah in Father's Day by forbidding this celebration. Maybe this will show Jesus that we love him more than Jehovah by having only one celebration, and that is all about him and not Jehovah. We are off the hook!
Any thoughts?

No,
Maybe because of my upbringing as a Catholic, I never shunned anyone. I always thought of the parable of the prodigal son.
Maybe I was a bad Jehovah Witness because I always followed what the bible said, as I thought it at the time. I always thought that it was god, and not the organization who would be the judge at the end. Because of this, I had many arguments with the book study conductors. Not one of of the rest of the people would back me up.
I think now that JWs should stress that it is not what is in their hearts, but what the law says about things that takes precedence, such as in the case of the poor man who tried to prevent the ark from falling to the ground from the cart and was murdered by Jehovah for this deed.
See... you should remember all the laws and the latest WT information before you take action or Jehovah will kill you. Take your time thinking before you act. Check the latest light. Maybe you could've prevented the ark from falling yesterday, but the latest Watchtower now says you can not. Maybe you had a cancer operation that prevented you from attending a meeting, but you should've had someone tape record it.
I also think that Catholics should start shunning all the relatives who belong to churches that shun. That'll make people following their conscience think twice before leaving their religion.

Just because something gets written down in the Bible doesn't mean God was for it or approved it. As for the story with the bears. God must have read their hearts an saw there was no hope of them changing, beside some people look young but are much older. Who knows we were not there and it's hard to get the whole scope of things sometimes.
EXCUSES, EXCUSES, EXCUSES: I don’t stop being amazed about how people like you keep on making excuses for your god. You cannot confront THE TRUTH even if it is in your direct view. Your god obviously approved of it, since he sent the bears. Does your god kill all people because there is no hope of them changing? Wasn’t there a better way, like educating them personally?
Talk about their hearts: Your god murders all the first born of the Egyptians who had not killed a lamb in order to splatter in their doorways because of the sin of the pharaoh of not letting the Hebrews go. A sin of which your god was guilty of, because he was the one that changed the pharaoh’s heart to begin with! Yeah, right! Your god, who sees all hearts, needs to see who has blood marking their houses, so their offspring will not be murdered!
You’re right, we were not there, but the bible plainly says they were SMALL BOYS. Their crime? Calling a bald man bald. In other words: telling the truth.
As for that woman that got cut up after being raped Judges 19:15 Student Bible throught on the matter "The old man obviously took hospitality seriously. Unfortunately, he took the rights of woman much less seriously. In fact, he urged the hostile mob to rape his own daughter and his guest's concubine as a substitute for the guest himself. His response was nearly identical to lot's on the eve of Sodom's destruction (Gen 19:6-8) The story suggest that Israel had become as bad as Sodom. We all know God punished Israel big time for all there badness, and took every bad act into account for perfect justice.
Sorry, I really don't understand what you mean by
Student Bible throught on the matter
Maybe you can clarify it.
So on the advice of Jehovah of the armies, the rest of the tribessent a vastly outnumbering army to kill the Benjaminite town and get their a** kicked.
Yeah, I know. I have heard your apologists. Jehovah never said they would win the first time.
You’re right on the second part. This, and Sodom’s story are about hospitality and not about homosexuality. In both cases they offer women to satisfy sexual urges. Most serious scholars think this is about hospitality. And in the case of Sodom alone, trans species sexual mixing (angels vs humans), but I doubt it since the Sodomites had no idea the visitors were angels, or would have not messed with them.
Now just because that crime was recorded doesn't mean God approved it. Remember the issue that is at hand, Can men live without Gods help?......NO. This is just one more case why we need God/Jesus to step in to end all this Evil !!!!!!!!!!! Its just like today, crime is everywhere, yet why does God let it go on, because to show man that without his help there is no peace, hope, future only pain & death etc. God will step in, and end all this madness once an for all and make it up to everyone for going through all this, but until then you have to act smart and hang on.
The issue at hand is the murderous god of the OT. Mankind has lived without this god for millennia. He has ignored most humans if he really existed. Jesus came only for the Jews. Not for all mankind. Man has prospered better without him. The advances in medicine, and social justice have come from “earthly governments” not from him. I would take the American Constitution over the bible any time. He has condoned slavery, selling of children, human sacrifice, polygamy, male supremacy, intolerance, etc.
Christianity has slowed advances in medicine. Even during the last century, Jehovah Witnesses claimed that bacteria was caused by illnesses, not the other way around; that thinking men would not inoculate themselves, and that it was better to have smallpox than to take a vaccine. Refuse to take blood transfusions, prohibited organ transplants, said that aluminum cooking was poisonous, etc. If religious people want to live in a fairyland, fine, but don’t kill other people for their beliefs by direct action or by neglect. Especially in the case of young children.

Celebrating Mother's And Father's Day Is Unscriptural! You Gotta READ This!
by minimus inthe may 8, 1956 awake had the article entitled,"mother and father worship unscriptural".
it states:"nowhere in the bible do we find that parents are to be worshipped, or that there should be a father's day and a mother's day kept in their honor.
worship belongs exclusively to jehovah god, as he himself says:' i jehovah your god am a god exacting exclusive devotion'.

" And he proceeded to go up from there to Bethel (how appropriate). As he was going up on the way, there were small boys that came out from the city and began to jeer him and kept saying to him: 'Go up you Baldhead! Go up you Baldhead!"
That's what he gets for going around naked and circumcised. Since he was old, it probably couldn't go up.
Finally he turned behind him and saw them and called down evil upon them in the name of Jehovah.
He turned behind who?
He called evil upon them in the name of the god of love?
Then two she-bears came out of the woods and went tearing to pieces forty-two children of their number. "
Which goes to prove that it is not what you know. It's who you know.
So Jehovah God sent 2 bears to kill 42 children because they were calling someone names?
Yes, but not just any evil names. Those children called a bald-headed man a name reflecting the truth about his lack of hair. They really deserved to die! They were running ahead of the
societybible.I know the society try and tell us that they were grown men, but that is not what the bible says.
In a few years you will probably see the following in the NWT:
there were
small boysmidgets that came out from the city -

Hooverus,
I looked at one of the "errors" on the above site from the book of Titus. This had to do with a bishop being the husband of one wife. The site then linked to other passages which talked about people in the Bible having more than one wife this is then said to be a "contradiction. " However those passages do not say that those people taking more than one wife were following God's instructions, they simply describe the events of their lives.
- You are probably refering to Titus 1:6 If any be blameless, the husband of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.
- This will link you to a table asking if polygamy is OK.
- Titus is saying in this verse that the bishop to be is to have only one wife. Notice that this applies to bishop candidates. By extension it is deduced that some people had more than one wife.
According to the Jewish god's law, women were not partners. They were property. If a man had commited adultery, it had to be because he had sex with another man's property (aka someone else's wife). A man was not guilty of adultery if he had sex with an unmarried woman. Remember that the punishment for adultery was death. This is why it is crazy to say that the only way to divorce a woman is if she was guilty of adultery. Her punishment would've been death. No need to divorce her! The bible is full of examples of polygamy and incest. Look at Abraham. He had at least 8 children of different wives (one of them his sister). No action was taken against him. Don't tell me that it was because at the time God wanted to increase the number of his followers blah, blah, blah. There were millions of people at the time. He could have impregnated his wife before he ate with the angels and the Abraham family. There might have not being orders for polygamy, but there weren't any against it too.
