  You are so confused Buffy, it's not JWs that classify fornication and adultery as sin, but Jehovah God.

  Have you forgotten so quickly Jehovah's commandments? Read once again Gal. 5:19-21.

  Adultery was a crime of ownership whose penalty was death. Male adulterers would only be sentenced to death if they messed with someone's property ie: another married women.

  Fornication was allowed so much that there were even rooms for both male and female prostitutes in the temple of Salomon. These rooms were built since its inception.

  Jehovah himself was an adulterer.

  Jehovah is only the god of, and for the Israelites. Jehovah's father and god gave him Jacob's descendents as his lot. Read Deut. 32: 8,9 s l o w l y, and this time think about what you read.

  Read your bible as you would analyze any book, and don't make excuses for him.

  kind of similiar to minimus question, this one got me thinking.. the funniest for me has to be the elders telling me i should buy a 4-door car for field service and not to buy a camaro.

  i almost believed them.

  telling me in would not be proper to drive that in field service.

  Wow, I would consider, because of the picture you sent, the Morris Dance to be a folkloric dance. I'd love to see one in real life. I wonder if these people really have any idea originating from their own brains, or if anything must come from the collective.

  When will people learn that virginity STDs only works if both parties are virgin. That OT law is one of the most stupid ones I've heard of. I think this was to keep women of sports. They were afraid of rupturing their hymen.

  Talking about injustices, How come there is no mention about men being virgins or getting rejected in marriage?

  For one thing, you need exact time of birth. Here is a secret for you... many gay men have Gemini as their Sun sign or moon sign, or Gemini plays a major role in their chart....

  Jeez, it took three pages of this thread for someone to figure this out. I thought about it from the third post, but I wanted to make sure someone had not say it before, and the thread is already five pages long. I think most people here don’t know about astrology. My mother’s and father’s son claimed that you would be attacked by DEMONZZZ if you had a newspaper with the horoscope in the house. I don’t believe in it but I find them funny, but seeing the response in this thread, I wonder if this is a deep seated fear of reading about the horoscopes in the literature. Correct me if I am wrong, but they also need the place of birth in order to make a chart.

  His place of birth is also dubious since in order to make a prophecy out of his place of birth, they claimed Jesus to be born in Bethlehem but this so called prophecy (Micah 5:2), refers to Bethlehem Ephrata which is not a place but the name of a clan. Also this “prophecy

  Matthew 2:6 " 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah, are by no means least among the rulers of Judah; for out of you will come a ruler who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'[ 2:6 Micah 5:2] " Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared.

  Micah 5: 2 "But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are small among the clans of Judah, out of you will come for me one who will be ruler over Israel, whose origins are from of old, from ancient times."

  Note the discrepancy in quotations. The WT had good teachers in distorting and misquoting.

  Note also that even Herod needed the right time of the star’s appearance.

  To begin with, Jesus was neither a descendant of David or Bethlehem Ephrathah. Mary was supposed to have been impregnated by god. Jesus was no seed of David on the line of the father, and Mary was an Aaronite.

  Shunning is inmoral.

  An institution ordering the severing ties of their members is looking after its own interests only, and not those of the ones serving the institution.

  Shunning is a tool used to curtail freedom of speech to those who don't believe as they did at a time. If they would really believed in the truth, they would not be stopped from searching it, and would be able to debate openly.

  If someone wants to do it in private, it's ok. But institutionalized shunning is shameful.

  On the other hand, it shows people's true colors, and who are your real friends and relatives.

  children don't need encouragement or coaching - unspoken expectations and incredulousness and anger when they are not met are the way to go.. newspapers, national geographic magazines, and fraternal organizations are much more interesting and more worthy of a time investment than children are.. children are noisy nuisances.

  keep reminding them of this by yelling whenever they make too much noise, accidentally get in your way, or otherwise annoy you or complicate your life.

  I worshipped my father,

  We would spend most mornings talking. He did not quote from the bible, instead he would quote from old Spanish sayings and Easop's fables to bring a point. I only saw him angry twice and spanked me once deservedly because he found out I stole some textbooks when he saw that they belonged to someone else. I stole them to replace the ones that had been stolen from me. He told me it was not right to make someone suffer because someone else had made me suffer. He wanted me to always be the best I can be. He was constantly singing and trying to dance, even though he had a leg shorter than the other due to losing cartilage in his femur. He taught me to be self-reliant and to explore. I remember my maternal grandmother telling him that he wasted his money on buying me a motor bike at 14 because I had disassembled its motor, and that I would never put it back again. His answer was: That's Ok, he is doing it to learn how it works. I'll have a mechanic fix it or buy him another if he can't fix this one.

  The think that I hold against my parents is that they were separated when I was only three years old. I can't forgive them for thinking about themselves first, and then us.

  Got advised not to watch' morris dancing' or to let my daughters use tampax...

  xcuse my ignorance. What is "morris dancing"

  My daughters love swimming. My 11-year-old started menstruating a couple of months ago. I was adviced to ask her to wear tampons if she wanted to swim during those days. My JW ex nixed it saying she was too young for it. What reason did they give you for not wearing tampax? No need for an answer. I was just wondering if this was a JW thing or if this is the norm for young girls.

  When I was younger, in the 50s, there was the story going around that he had a photographic memory and could remember all the WTs and could give you the page and paragraph of any quote you could bring up.

  Too bad his camera had no film.

  At the risk of being repetitive, memory is by no means a sign of intelligence. A good example is given in the film "Rain Man", which deals with an Idiot Savant.

  I don't recall ever seeing his IQ published. Probably from a JW perspective, he WAS highly accomplished. But that's not saying much.

  That brought to mind a Spanish saying "En la tierra del ciego, el tuerto es rey" which translates as "In the land of the blind, the one-eyed is king"

  I wonder also if the same applies because of men wearing womens clothes, or are all of the worlds problems strictly the result of us shedevils in *ahem* men's attire?

  Don't rub it it. I wish I lived in Scotland, Japan or a Muslim country so that I would be able to wear cool clothes like dresses or skirts.

  I salute the women who opened the option of wearing the variety of clothes they wear. I like pants to work and in winter, but I'd love to wear skirts in summer. Unfortunately I don't have the guts to do it.
