JW-Values Anyone?

we have a discussion group of 8 or 9 people that meets at our house every 4 to 6 weeks.

weve been doing this over 5 years and gotten to know each other fairly well.

during our last salon a few spoke of religious values that carried over even though they are no longer members of their former religion.

I learned basic Judeo-Christian values from the JW's, but with a twist.

And over the rocks with a slice of lime and a little umbrella in the glass.

Love, faith, loyalty, service, integrity, compassion, they are all there; albeit misapplied and often given mere lip-service.

Once I undid the twist, I found I was left with just that, biblical Judeo-Christian values.

I could have learned 'em from any Christan religion, but I got 'em from the JW's.

Of course most other Christian religions don't encrypt them.

it seems there is not a thing new in dubdumb.. it's all just the same thing over and over.. if it wasn't for the heated political debates here on jwd it would be rather boring all the time.. .

one thing that always bothered me when i was a witness, was that the main thing you were admired for was how much time you got in the service each month, how many times you commented at meetings, whether you hung out with " spiritual " people, and your approval was based on how you were advancing in the faith based on your position, regular or auxilarry pioneer, ministerial servant or elder.

if you weren't any of those things, even if you did good to or for others, it was not noticed.

if joe publisher sitting in the corner went and mowed sister old ladies yard in 100 degree heat out of love it was not emphasized, because it didn't really fit in with the agenda the elders or governing body deems important as being for the advancement of kingdom interests.

You are spot on, my friend.

My daughter has become something of a volunteer for various causes like juvenile diabetes.

She works at Target, so they sponsor walks, nights out, and other activities for charity.

I remember thinking what a waste of time and money that kind of stuff was. I thought, if somebody wanted to give to some charity, why not just donate instead of going walking or whatever. And of course I would never have donated because I felt that these organizations were simply tidying up the deck chairs on the Titanic.

How different my thoughts on the matter now.

When I was 'in' I felt like I was living the 'real life' and everything outside was just heat and noise. How ironic considering that I was never a very good dub from their standpoint.

Now that I see that what issues forth from the reality distortion wormhole in Brooklyn is the REAL heat and noise, I know that the 'real life' is to be found OUTSIDE the kingdumb hell doors. Now that I have broken free from the chains of their delusional value system, I have discovered REAL charity.

How silly I was to think that helping your fellow human, having a love for your fellow man, mankind in general could EVER be a 'waste of time!'

How silly to think that an organization that thinks it has love but is eager to see 99% of the human race converted to bird poop.

It is they who are tidying those deck chairs, but the Titanic isn't 'the old system,' it's the WTS that is sinking.

I love my life, and I love being of service to my fellowman in ways that matter, and am glad to be free of the WTS's insidious mental rot.

I'm Worshipping Satan Now.....

.....according to my father.. he decided to talk to me today about my meeting attendance.

i haven't been to one in 3 months by the way.

so he goes on to give me the usual.."you know where you're supposed to be 3 times a week"......."you're not taking full advantage of jehovah's provisions"....."you shouldn't let anyone discourage you to the point of missing meetings"....that type of stuff.. he then went on to say that if you aren't taking full advantage of what jehovah provides then you're worshipping satan instead of jehovah.

So you're worshipping satan now, eh?

So you are being scolded to do what he himself isn't.

This is just par for the course, this 0rg really gets under people's skin.

Just be glad you are making your exit, avoiding being saddled with that shrill harpy, and actually planning a life that matters.

not sure what to do about this...

so sis in law father has been on dialysis for yrs and is elderly and hubby just got a text from his bro 'just so you don't put your foot in it ******'s father is stopping dialysis this wk and has 2 wks to live' (hes a jw too).

so i said to hubby he should reply and mention how sorry we are but he said why as they're treating me(dobs) like dirt and he doesn't see why he should.

but although they have cut me out now totally it seems i still think i should do something.

Good, You will feel better for sending it.

It's never too late to do the right thing. Hopefully the example you are setting will be noted and there will be some doing of the right thing coming back.

If not, at least you know you did right.
