How long did it take for the elders to "give up" on you ?
by JH inwhen i became inactive years ago, the elders tried to visit me and talk to me, but i was able to nutralize their efforts and never answered the door or their phone calls.
i just didn't want to talk to them.. then it didn't take long for them to give up.
aftrer that, maybe once a year, they invited me to the memorial.

Welcome to the forum AWAKE&WATCHING! Good luck with your fade, you're in good company
The elders never really had much time for me to begin with, when I faded that didn't change. Had a couple of visits but they were more to clarify that I was smoking than anything else.

METH. It is every where and like a plague

she has three kids and is very nice.
i did not do things with her away from work, but talk to her every day.

Theres similar reports from the media here in Oz. I knew a woman a couple of years back who lost custody of her 3 children on account of that stuff. It's nasty, I've never touched it, never will. She had rotting teeth, couldn't gain weight (and she badly needed to, she looked anorexic) and her face made her look at least 10 years older than she actually was. She'd already attempted suicide (which is why she lost her kids). Stay well away from it!

What are some of the things that you miss about not being a JW
by Brain Dead inwhat are some of the things that you miss about not being a jw any more ?
for myself i'd have to say it was the close relationships with the people there, some i don't miss at all, but some i really do miss, like the kids that i grew up with .
during my childhood.

There was a couple of friends that I miss, there were others who when I left (and the cong had been told I was smoking) I walked past in the street with a sigh of relief like "great, I don't have to pretend I like you now!"
But the meetings, door-to-door witnessing, endless studies etc don't miss for a second.

Give us your explanation of what personally drew you to the JWS.
by Brain Dead inthats right give us your explanation of what personally drew you to the jws.
and what is your opinion of it today ?.
for myself i was born into it so there wasn't really any choice for myself, but now that i've been out of it for some 30 yrs.

Born into it, third generation. Started questioning it around the age of 12, when an elder started harassing me. It didn't make sense to me how people with minds so 'pure and chaste' could always arrive at such a perverse conclusion from the most innocent of situations. The average elder could make a nice living writing scripts for porn movies (theres a scary thought ).

I thought it was something stronger than cannibas, like acid maybe?
Heres an experiment for someone to try: use every drug one by one while reading their publications. When they suddenly start making sense to you - bingo! That's the one!

No problems here. You do what you have to in order to get away from them.

Some of my favorite or more useful websites and why
by blondie ini have all this in a favorites folder marked cults (i'm cleaning out dead urls) and realized that these might be interesting and/or helpful.
like one, make a folder or put it in your links or favorites, labeled so you can find it .
i found this one: learn the techniques of exit counseling, or unofficially, how to try and get my friends and family out of the wts and other cults (only clips are online, it ain't "free" or on a donation basis to the "worldwide work" of steve hassan in the wts mode (not that it doesn't fund the work to protect people from cults)(blondie does not get a cut).
