Didn't the children themselves already say they wanted to live with Janet instead? Katherine won't be around forever, I saw an interview with Jermaine the other day who said between all the siblings (and with quite a few of them already having raised children of their own) they're prepared for taking on the kids when Katherine can no longer look after them... there's hope still.

Were you or someone you know sexually molested by a Jehovah's Witness ?
by flipper indue to the fact there are about 27,000 members of this religion that are known pedophiles, and the information about it is kept in a secret database file, i wonder how many lurking jw's as well as others are aware of the severity of this problem?
remember, it's 27,000 pedophiles that they know about.
what about the thousands that don't get caught?

I know.It's beyond comprehension how anyone can defend an org that treats victims in that manner. An 8 year old girl was raped in my congregation. The molester wasn't disfellowshipped for it and the same night they gave a 'local needs' talk on the safety of your child at the KH, (which most took as a 'keep your brats under control' talk) he was wrestling with some young boys, holding them down between his legs in the kingdom hall, right in front of the elders.
For around ten years after I left, I thought I came from a particularly bad congregation... that the elders there were less loving than the norm and that if the WT society knew, they'd remove them. It wasn't until I came to sites such as this one that I realised how wide spread the problem was... that the elders in my congregation were no different than the norm and following standard watchtower procedure. I think that's what scares them the most about the net... and it should.

Still reading through the thread and I came across Dinah's comment...
Brinjin had sent me a link to a youtube video featuring a teenaged boy (12-13 Ithink) who was raped. The elders blamed him for it as well. They said he got what he wanted and called it an act of homosexual sex instead of rape. I wish I could remember the title of the video. This happened in Australia.

I think it was originally aired in 2005 on the 'Sunday' program (can anyone else remember this?). The external embedding has been disabled so you'll need to double click on the video which will open it in another tab. It's a long video (runs for around half an hour) and I will say up front, quite a difficult video to watch. If you feel you can handle it though, it is without a doubt one of the best I've ever seen. I was never molested personally but I have to say I was bawling my eyes out by the time it was finished. I'm ashamed that I was ever part of an organisation that treats people this way.
for BigTex, AllTimeJeff and everyone else who was affected by the policies of an organisation which cares more about protecting itself than those who need protecting. -

Something Big Is Happening To the WT Mag.
by metatron ini looked over the aug. 1 public watchtower and noticed the same changes i observed previously.. plainly put, it appears that they have simply run out of things to say and so are just filling up printing space!.
they devote 4 full pages to a bible reading schedule that could have been easily condensed into a couple sentences.
they have the same large graphics and typeset that eats up printing area.

I happen to have that Watchtower and the August issue of the Awake magazine. A couple of weeks ago, I happened to bump into a couple of witnesses, both women. The older one pretty much gave me the magazines and walked off... not kidding.
I noticed the same thing... most of the articles appear as 'fillers', the QFR doesn't even appear as though it was finished before it was rushed off to the printers. The Awake appears to be filled with more fluff than ever.
Yep, just a matter of time before they combine the two me thinks.

several experiences were really quite odd .

And on the topic... yep, got lectured BIG time for Madonna ( I still remember my mother looking like she was about to suffer a heart attack when she saw the album cover for 'Like A Virgin' ). An elder who was at our congregation but had since moved apparently lectured another young witness girl into not liking her anymore... she was "immoral". A sister in my congregation said she must be posessed by demonz cause no one would be so "obsessed with sex" otherwise.
Aussies may remember the song 'Solid Rock' by the band 'Goanna'... my JW grandmother chucked a fit when she saw the video which was just a live type performance of the song.

And of course there was the sister (that I mentioned in another thread) who forbid her children from listening to Julian Lennon's 'Saltwater' because she thought the line 'we are a rock revolving around the golden sun' was a reference to evolution... yeah, she wasn't too bright.
