Cicuit Overseer and District Overseer came looking for me today............

last week was the 2 day assembly.i didn't go to either one.

today,my mom called and told me the the c.o.

and d.o.came for a visit.i've been attending only once a week and no field service in about 4 years.

It is like I feel free of them and credit alot of that to this site and people...who are still hiding from them...and that has me concerned that perhaps I misunderstood or am too aggressive with my questions.....

I can see where you are coming from and good on you for not being afraid of them. I admire you. I don't think you have misunderstood or are too aggressive in any way. I'm in a different location so I can't see the dubs that I was associated with. I hope if I ever do that I can be just like you and get that look of fear when I ask the questions they cannot answer.

baptism question

why do the great crowd have to be baptized?

we dont partake at the memorial.. it looks like baptism would only be necessary for the " annoited" if you go by jw rules and stuff... .

i was thinking about that today and thought that its all just to control the masses.. get baptised and if you sin, they have the authority to " discipline " you .

Your question reminded of a sketch I saw on 'The Chaser's War On Everything' (politcal satire program on Australian TV) It was involving the scientologists.

The Chaser Team set up a booth on the side of a road and invited people in to see if they would make a good scientologist. They asked them questions along the line of "would you be prepared to believe whatever crap we tell you?".

Maybe the dubs need to just start doing just that. It would make the process so much simpler. Oh, wait. That's right, there's the power thing.

"no smoking".... it defiles your body and goes against scripture.. so as a witness, when pushing this train of thought, did it ever occur to anyone that when ever you dug in to those fried eggs, bacon cheeseburgers, and gallons of icecream, you were doing the same exact thing?.

smoking over a long period of time can kill you.

eating artery congesting foods over a long period of time can kill you.

Of course Satan is useful to God. Jehovah is 'an angry, jealous & vengeful God'. Who knows what might have happened if Satan hadn't distracted him from his grand plan? You wouldn't want someone like that getting bored would you?

This has always been one of those issues that rang alarms with me as well. As its been pointed out many times (above) over eating and obesity are just as (if not more) unhealthy as smoking. Yet they always target smoking as 'defiling your body', but not gluttony. Hyprocrites.

SnakesInTheTower I remember when my dub grandmother died. She didn't have a will and a non-dub relative thought it would be nice to donate the money left over from the funeral expenses (roughly $500) to the congregation she devoted her life to.

The next month the 'miscellaneous expenses' was particularly high, about $500 higher. Gues that's where her money went to.

Money in general was always an issue that rang alarm bells for me. From one side of their mouth it was a worthless worldly value placed on everybody by Satan. On the other side, all the elders and ms in my congregation were well off with nice houses and cars that looked down their noses at the unemployed and those that had low paying jobs. No ms was ever appointed while they were unemployed (unemployment was a huge problem in general in the area where I lived). I pioneered while I was unemployed, it still wasn't enough for them as my not having a job or car made me a burden on the congregation.

i read most of the posts on here and i was just trying to get an understanding on certain topics.

i read some peoples material and why they dont believe in the jw faith.

i understand that some people left the jw faith and some people on here may never have been jws or believed in it, so i understand why you post and give info back and forth, but i have trouble understanding some of the disfellowshipped ones on here.

So what if someone gets df'd and comes on this forum and vents and blames the WTBTS when the truth is he/she did screw up? It's part of a growth process.

My point exactly, regardless of what anyone here may have done to get d'fd, none of it changes the hyprocrisy of the dubs. You don't know the person, you don't know the circumstances that led to do what they did.

You and I can identify with that little boy. We have scars, too. No, not from an alligator, but the scars of a painful past. Some of those scars are unsightly and have caused us deep regret.

Yes & that painful past is our time with the dubs. Thank god I got out of that alligator's mouth!

What do we really know about Jehovah?

i started making a list of what we really know about jehovah from the bible.

see if you can add to the list.. 1. likes to take afternoon walks, especially when it's breezy.. 2. likes the smell of roasting animals.. 3. likes dancing and singing but doesn't necessarily dance and sing himself.. 4. can write a little bit, though only with one finger.

usually gets humans to write for him instead.. 5. seems to like cheap magic tricks, like talking donkeys and magic burning bushes.. 6. always resorts to violence to solve problems instead of dialogue or diplomacy.. 7. he can reproduce asexually.. 8. he likes to be called father and he has sons, but his "wife" is a group of sexless spirits, who are also his sons.. any more??.

He is the most powerful being ever but he let one of his own kids get the better of him when he rebelled. He's a single parent but demands people have 2 parents. He never makes a decision without consulting his watchtower index first.

were you ever told to do things that had no bearing on the scriptures or even policies of the watchtower?.

we had one co who upon inspection insisted that the body of elders and servants be cleaven shaven, cut their hair and remove their sideburns.. i use to have a patch of hair under my bottom lip.

the co pointing to it asked, "what's that?

Come to think of it, I don't recall reading anything in the bible that indicated women couldn't wear pants.I used to freeze at the kingdom hall in winter, they had heaters but wouldn't use them. I remember 1 sister who used to wear leggings under her skirt with knee high boots. A few of the others that found out lectured her for it but what else was she supposed to do? She was freezing!
