BB: I've been here for over three years, don't really feel like a "local/native" yet
Just want you to know that is not exactly encouraging.
just wondering is any of you have found breaking into the internet discussion board arena difficult.

witnesses try to make it sound as though they are very very conscientious people.
they care about you, your spiritual welfare, your everlasting welfare....but nothing could be further from the truth!
if they truly cared, they would see to it that they reached people to give them the lifesaving truth.
Gopher: The organization is fear-based. Some JW's really want to show love, others don't care. That's like humanity as a whole.
I think also that the fear/performance based motivation breeds selfishness, and arrogance. While a person is studing with a "sheep like" one it is almost impossible for them to not be thinking about the time, publications they can count, not to mention that they have 3 bible studies and no one else in the congregation has that many. Or, what experience they can share in the hall at the service meeting. Internal thoughts being "oh I am so good, because I do everything the slave asks of me, not like brother so and so who was just reproved. I knew he was weak."
Love your new avitar!
i just disassociated myself after nine long years in the wtbts after researching the history of the wtbts and its founders and their lies, false prophecies and mind-control doctrines.
read my profile for more about that.
anyway, i'm glad there is a wonderful support group for those who have escaped the grasp of the wtbts and enjoy life again without the constant fear that the wtbts instills at every meeting.
Welcome!
i just remembered that for a while, among the young fellas in my congregation, that dusters (those tench coats that cowboys wear in australia) bacame popular.
(i never owned one).
of course, we did live in rural utah-an area that was stricken with a bad case of redneckery.
In western Colorado cowboy boots, brothers and sisters, yes with their skirts. Bolo ties for the older men. The young ones always seem to wear what is in style no matter what is said from the platform.
i have spent most of my life in colorado.
love it, alwalys have.
i have lived in singapore, arizona, new mexico.
renee: If I had to move anywhere in the states, I would go somewhere in Virginia. It is just so beautiful and charming.
Where in Virginia? I lived there as a kid, Norfork, and the DC area. Ellisville looks close enough to the Gulf to get fresh fish. I'll check it out, thanks.
jim tx: I think that Bandera, TX - Medina, TX - Camp Verde, TX - these are some small towns that are going to grow.
I haven't spent much time in Texas, driven through it a few. Do you like living there?

Momz: a very beautiful little town named Carthage in Smith County. It is surrounded by the TN version of mountians and is flanked by the Cumberland River. Although tornados have come close, they haven't hit Carthage since we've lived here. We lived there for a year in a sweet older home on a tree-lined street. It is very old Americana and full of history
Thank you that is just the kind of information I was hoping to get from this thread. I'll check it out.
Gopher, as soon as I am done serving lunch, I'll look up that site. Thank you.
tm, are you thinking about Colorado? I know it well.

hill, I have been to St. Louis, lots of history and an interesting blend of cultures. Housing values are cheap compared to what I am use to.
I suppose I do need to think about work, but my angle is if I take my money and buy a house out right, then working wouldn't be such a burden. I could take me a couple of years to free myself up for a move, but I seem to need a fresh start somewhere. I thought I would take come classes now to make me more marketable in the workplace. Then I could go anywhere, and do anything (within some major limits of course).
i have spent most of my life in colorado.
love it, alwalys have.

troubled mind, I can't find Geneseo on my map. Where is it?

Thanks Gopher, I have never been to Minnesota, I have however crused through it on the map and realestate.com. Stillwater, I'll check it out.
Burger Time, my dad is from little Washington, and my mom from Greensboro. My Grandfather had a beach house in Beauford, right on the bay. It got wiped out twice from hurricaines. I would love to live on the coast, but the weather can be so severe. Do you live in a hurricane prone area?
