did ya miss it..UAW nixes bailout plan...
by hillbilly inor was i dreamin it?.
heard a bit about this on npr... seems the uaw wont play ball with the congress on this bailout plan and now the whole deal is dead in the water (again).. is there an echo or did i mention 'entitlement" and something about a "poor excuse for a labor union" about the uaw before?.

as much as I think the big 3 deserve this, I want to see the bailout go to mfr. and retain some jobs and give them time to restructure.
I hate unions though, they had their day but now they are too corrupt....

Purplesofa...how is that dumb? The add is full on and I did get in trouble at work due to others seeing it. It is not very discreet, and others here have told me the same thing.
first of all, why would you openly expose yourself to criticism pertaining to personal comp use at work? I am on here during work hours but it is very simple to minimize the screen and not create an issue. And if I am busy, or in a situation where i cant be discreet I am simply not on JWD.

my kid, and cristmas
by DaCheech ini have been able to tell my kids that since we are jw's we don't do cristmas.. to help the kid, we are giving presents every other week until the seasons over, to make them feel good about themselves.. the other day, she starts humming "jingle bell rock".
i told the kid not to do it, since we jws don't do cristmas.. the response was "the songs not about cristmas, but about jingling and rocking".. what should i do really?.
i'm trying to instill things like: "as jws we dont do this and that".

yes but how old are your children? kids cant necessarily distinguish the impracticality of those restrictions. Are they really able to understand the difference between the org and God?
the WTS makes very sure to create the understanding, unsconcious or otherwise, that these rules come from God. You may only be furthering the guilt that so many ex-JW's live with when attempting to have a normal life and enjoy holiday celebrations.

Are you going to your Company Holiday Party?
by coffee_black inmine is saturday at a nice country club... my boyfriend is taking me, though it's not his cup of tea.. he's a really great guy.. our company christmas party used to be at the omni parker house in boston...very formal.

Blood Issue took my mom last night
by rwagoner inafter years of fighting a physical disability that ended in kidney failure and several bouts of respiratory/cardiac arrestmy mom landed in the hospital last week.
the doc's said she needed heart surgery and kidney transplants but before they could operate they need to get her blood count back up.
it had fallen well below what her body could naturally restore on its own she she needed transfusions.

I don't think dropping the figures from the KM can be explained on the basis of trying to cover up bad numbers. As others have mentioned the figures have actually been getting slightly better for them in the past few years. Nothing spectacular but a bit improved. If they were going to drop the numbers out of embarrassment you might have expected them to do it around 2000 or 2001 when the figures were really quite bad.
ok I havent caught up on this entire thread but......
the new format contains just a snapshot of highlights. For January it said that bible studies of august (or sept. I cant remember) were up by "several thousand" over the same month last year.
Well no duh, everything is a bible study now! All you have to do is read a paragraph out of the require brochure and you get to count a bible study. Wives get to count the family study as a bible study.
Just wait until the new year when the "family study night" increases start rolling in. There will be enormous increases in bible studies! The numbers dont event mean anything anymore.... -

Why don't you apostates just leave the organization? Why do you have to come back and devote all you have to speak out against it?
JW's have died for refusing medical treatment that is now acceptable to the organization. Why did Jehovah kill them? Doesnt Jehovah instruct the organization? How could jehovah lie to his chosen channel like that?
1 John 4:1 commands us to examine everything we are taught - the organization does "not endorse" the examination of its teachings. Why would the WTS put themselves above scripture and above Jehovah?
Jesus stated in Mathew 24 that "false prophets" would predict His coming. they would say "he is here or there" (paraphrased) and not too listen them. Why has the WTS made so many predictions about Jesus return? Why would they be so foolish as to fulfill such a clearly defined role - that of a false prophet making false predictions of jesus return? You do know that you only need to read old issues of the WT to see this for yourself right?
Go to your KH library and see for yourself. Ask your elders about these questions, they will be happy to help you find the answers in the bible.
