  I forgot that you are not allowed to have a differing opinion on this forum. As long as I am drinking the majority Kool-Aid, it's better then drinking the other guys Kool-Aid.

  to a point I agree with Burger as all religions have a degree of "control" over there flock as "newme" pointed out. All religions do this. One might suggest that the foundation for cults came from organized religion. However, most religous denominations allow at least discussion of the rightness of the doctrines of the church. This is where cults differ - you can never question any teaching of the group. This is certainly the case for the WTS. The only questions up for discussion are those the WTS raises in the WT to further prove their own point. For this reason, (and others) I would define the WTS as a cult.

  Still think the Society is not running out of cash? ...

  (of course the society has $billions in real estate, but many have speculated that they are low on cash for day-day operations).. unfortunately i don't have a working scanner, but here is a summary of & a few quotations from a boe letter dated march 1, 2008:.

  i am sure the extremely devalued american dollar has hit them hard with International spending.
  Most likely the WTS accounts and invests in US funds and there taking a huge hit on the bottom line as a result.

  Think about it, if you needed access to cash that was tied up in devalued investments would you want to cash it? "Of course not!" ( sound familiar? Kinda like a WT??? )

  But seriously folks, by taking R&F money and using it for cash flow today they can use their investments as collateral without having to cash them out. When the dollar recovers, they wont be so concerned about it.

  what did Moses write on?

  since cuneiform tablets were in use at least in the 6th century bc., just what the hell did moses (who supposedly wrote the 1st 5 books of the bible) write them on?

  how many people were needed to carry all of them.

  why is their no mention of any tablets clay zinc iron cooper gold etc that were being carried by the isrealites in the wilderness.

  as i told you before, they boe have been considering me for the eldership.

  which i don't care for, but since my family is stuck in this cult, i guess i can use the new position to help them see that the holy spirit has nothing to do with me being an elder.

  the WTS has been playing with peoples lives for over a hundred years.

  Rutherford bashed'em into submission
  Franz killed them with no blood and gave them false hopes
  Jaracz continues the death, and manipulates the WT to subvert the previously established false hopes without anyone noticing.

  How is this worse than what the WTS does?

  However, OutoftheBox - I think this will hasten the exposure of your true self. You will quickly be recognized as "difficult". You wont "bend over" for the CO and you will show signs of independant thought. These are all big no-no's for elders. I think you will struggle to maintain the charade for long.....

  1914- What's the big deal if it's the wrong date?

  i hear it a lot on this board that the 607 date is wrong... i figured that out while i was a jw... never really thought much about it though.

  just thought, ok, if it's wrong then everything is moved up about 20 or so years.... and for that matter, why is it such a big deal to the society?

  why can't they just fix the date so it's right.

  if 1914 is wrong then everything they know about what led them to the year 1914 is wrong too.

  Everything that depends on 1914 is also wrong. have you read Revelation Grand Climax??? The entire WTS Eschatology is based on 1914.

  Granted the WTS is lessening its weight by changing the generation and c1931-1935 teachings, but it is still huge!

  1914 is the BIG ONE for JW's. Its what they always go back to. 1914! 1914! 1914! ......... "we knew it 40 years in advance!" Of all the failures we've had this is one prophecy that almost looks like we can spin it enough to look like Russel was right!"

  NEW TRACT CAMPAIGN PLANNED....

  ....for october 20 - november 16.. there is a new tract to be introduced, with the title "do you want to know the truth?".

  it is not a "kingdom news" campaign - after the campaign, this tract will join the "regular rotation" of tracts to be used in the field misery.. it is designed to replace the "do you want to know more about the bible" tract - the goal is to use it to start "bible" studies.. the goal is to cover all of the congregation's territory in 4 weeks, similar to other campaigns in the past.

  unlike other campaigns, though, the congregations can order as many as they would like - they are not limited to 50 per publisher.

  "The end of false religion" crap never made any sense to me. For it to "end" a government would have to ban religion including JWs. Then the religion would remain in the hearts of both the JWs and the other members of religions. Most other prodestants aren't tied to a mother organization like the JWs are. It would be impossible for it to just "fall".

  this is where the WTS has created a problem for themselves. The "fall" of organized religion would be the most momentous event of human history. Can anyone comprehend how many leaders of countries would need to become athiests and dictators overnight to make this happen? How do European and North American countries step down and allow the leaders to ban religion? What salaried political leader would risk their career by even suggesting such a thing?

  Yes, some countries ban religion. Yes, some political leaders may be atheists. But we are talking about the "fall of organized religion". These are some of the largest and most powerful organizations on the planet.

  Mark my words, there will be "new light" on this. The collapse of organized religion, in the environment today with a marked return to christian fundamentalism, is far in the future, far enough away to create apathy amongst the R&F if they realize it.

  To stave-off this "dangerous" lack of motivation the WTS will have to alter this teaching to mean something less monumental

  IMHO

  You may have stumbled on to a real money-maker....a sorta CLIFF'S NOTES FOR JW'S. Maybe Stoops would carry them. So you see, you're a JW and you don't have time to keep up with all the latest Wt's and Awakes and phamplets and books and talks and everything...you just order the appropriate corresponding CLIFF'S NOTES for the talk you have to give or the book that just came out...etc. Hell I woulda paid big bucks at one time.

  well i got my material above from the 2008 TMS I downloaded. Its awesome.
  I thought this kind of stuff was "frowned upon" but almost everyone in my KH has it printed and bound and brings it every Service meeting. I guess we could take it to the next level and actually write the talks instead of just pasting all the info from the CD ROM.... I'd buy a copy of that!

  Definition: The term “earth” is used in more than one sense in the Scriptures. Usually we think of it as referring to the planet itself, which Jehovah generously endowed so that it could sustain human life with a view to making our lives richly satisfying. It should be realized, however, that “earth” also may be used in a figurative sense, referring, for example, to people living on this planet or to a human society that has certain characteristics.
  
  Will planet Earth be destroyed in a nuclear war?
  
  What does the Bible show to be God’s purpose regarding the earth?
  
  Matt. 6:10: “Let your kingdom come. Let your will take place, as in heaven, also upon earth.”
  
  Ps. 37:29: “The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will reside forever upon it.”
  
  See also Ecclesiastes 1:4; Psalm 104:5.
  
  Is there a possibility that, since the nations show little regard for God’s purpose, they might completely ruin the earth for habitation anyway?
  
  Isa. 55:8-11: “[The utterance of Jehovah is:] As the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. . . . My word . . . will not return to me without results, but it will certainly do that in which I have delighted, and it will have certain success in that for which I have sent it.”
  
  Isa. 40:15, 26: “Look! [From the standpoint of Jehovah God] The nations are as a drop from a bucket; and as the film of dust on the scales they have been accounted. . . . ‘Raise your eyes high up and see [the sun, the moon, and the billions of stars]. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one of them is missing.’” (The nuclear power developed by the nations is fear inspiring to men. But billions of stars employ nuclear power on a scale that is beyond our ability to comprehend. Who created and controls all these heavenly bodies? Can He not prevent the nations from using their nuclear weapons in a way that would hinder his purpose? That God would do this is illustrated by his destroying the military power of Egypt when Pharaoh sought to stop the deliverance of Israel.—Ex. 14:5-31.)
  
  Rev. 11:17, 18: “We thank you, Jehovah God, the Almighty, the One who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and begun ruling as king. But the nations became wrathful, and your own wrath came, and the appointed time . . . to bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”
