"yes they just dropped 1935 in a recent WT, in the last few weeks.
Great to have the "truth" isn't it?
As Bob Dyaln said "All the truth in the world adds up to one big lie".
Pope"
what's 1935, my memory is hazy.
here's a great one for those who are into crafts and such, or if you still have that stack of old awakes you just never got around to throwing out:.

do you think the wtbts made a mistake in suing the quotes site owner?
i think doing such was a huge mistake on their part, and here's why:.
1) they were not able to bury the information.
i wish there was more of a public declaration against it, or news coverage, to get to those who are 'in' the borg to make them think about the possibility that they're under blatant information control.
how does it feel knowing that your friends were so conditional----or your family?
?
surprised and hurt...even though it was 'rumored' that i was inactive. dropped like that from supposed life long friends who went into elaborate stories of what i was doing....that i wasn't doing.
surprised and hurt that these so called christians and friends of over 20 years didn't call or get in touch to see if i was ok, just decided to slander me.
more proof jws are far from christianity....i thank them for the realization and understanding my misplaced loyalty.
i am working on a book project (non-jw) that will have both illustrations and text and i am interested in self-publishing.
i checked out lulu.com and it looks extremely easy to do it once the manuscript is ready to go.
have you used a pod like lulu?
another option is developing a small indie press as some sort of collective here since there seems to be enough writers and interest
it would take investment, some organization, but i think it would be beneficial in terms of credibility and publicity....and devoting all the attention to one book at a time.
there are people who can make more money self publishing, but money isn't the only issue...if it's less money from a large publisher, but they're selling 3000 of your books instead of 1000, there's 2000 more readers, which breeds more readers and sets up your next book....and there's always the publicity machine of doing a book tour, getting on talk shows, doing newspaper and magazine interviews, etc.
and you're not paying out of pocket for the expense of editors, printing, etc.
and remember, it's all about the rewrite and editing....you may end up rewriting your work 30 times....you may end up rewriting your work until you want to vomit b/c you've read and reread the damn piece so many times....it's all a part of what most authors have to go through.
i have experience as a small press and writing and getting published, so if the small press collective option mentioned above is of interest to anyone i'd be happy to help as an advisor.
does anyone know of any religions that are very similar to jehovahs witnesses?.
it tends to come up in discussions with them a lot, they like to think that they are the only ones that don't believe in hell, the trinity, that jesus died on a stake, that they won't go to heaven, or stuff like that.
i could probaby just prove them wrong, but that would take forever and it would be a lot easier to just say: "you're not as unique as you think...".

"Before a radical shake down, the Church of God was very similar to jws . Armstrong(can't recall if it was Ted or Herbert) was often accused of being an apostate. Jws just KNEW no one else had any spiritual enlighten but them. Seems Armstrong knew a few things. His son ran the church into the ground and they officially apologized for their beliefs and now are pretty mainstream, except for a few spin offs."
was that the church that apologized for getting 1914 wrong? i didn't know they were still around and had spin off groups. i'll check wikipedia for more info, but would love any other info you have on the church.
just hearing that they apologized felt so refreshing, nothing the governing body would ever do....they always send the 'new light' as a 'get your act together' type message while never accepting responsibility for their 'old light'.
i've been thinking a lot lately about how much i've changed over the last year.
i've only been out of the borg for a year but i've changed so much.
my father called me the other day and told me that he found out that my husband has been going on these xjw boards and wanted to know how i felt about it.
congrads....i wish i was as smart as you @ 19.

personally, i would consider self publishing as a last resort. while a book can be produced and look good, there's nothing like getting a publishing company behind your book which will tackle one of the main problems of self publishing, publicity, getting blurbs, shelf space at bookstores, etc..
or, if you have the money, hire a publicist, though they can get up to $15k to represent a book.
unfortunately, many journalists won't give a second look to review a lulu.com book b/c of the stigma of 'vanity' publishing...i'm not saying i agree with it, but i have yet to find a self published book reviewed in publishers weekly, etc. And getting reviews means getting into libraries, libraries for the most part won't bother with a lulu.com book either.
a non-fiction book also doesn't need to be completed in order to get bought, think about submitting proposals to agents and trying to find someone who wants to rep you. look at who repped joy castro's book or other memoirs that have been published re: the jws through large and small publishing houses.
it could take 18+ months after the book is purchased and complete for it to hit market, but there's behind the scenes hype happening during that time to book sellers, journalists, etc.
i guess i would love to see more books on jws on the market and getting the attention they deserve, that's why i hope you give other options a try.
any sales figures for those who have published through lulu.com or a similar site on jws?
another idea is lightningsource.com. i've seen small presses use them with decent results, they're transparent as the printer, but promise a quick POD turn around for amazon, etc. the set up fees might be higher than lulu, but setting up a small press dedicated to jw books, or doing an anthology of jw writing as the first release, then following that up with you book will really up credibility....but credibility w/o publicity....there's lots to think about.
i'd love to be able to read any excerpts from your book if you chose to post them here.
best of luck!
not sure if this has ever been brought up.
but because of thsi forum and the realization that things said in the jw empire are not true.
do you still believe in the resurrection hope?
bigdreaux, your post ROCKS, thanks for the LOL.
i have been working on this article for quite some time as it kept getting longer and longer.
if you do not have time to read it all can you please just scan the headings and tell me if there is anything that i have missed.. .
i did a read of the shunning section and another point that you might want to bring up is the difference socially of disfellowshipping someone who has been raised a jw, works w/ jws and is told not to associate w/ worldly people, thus cutting off any type of socialization, usually at a time when the person may need it the most.
to contrast, someone who is converted to become a witness at age 30, gets baptized, and decides to give the jws the middle finger @ 32 will not have the same socialization consequences.
i did like that you focused on teens and you may have brought up the whole, 'us and them' attitude later, i just didn't have time to read that far tonite.
again, thanks.
i did.
i hated commenting because of it...i hated giving talks on the main school, .
i hated hearing my own voice...,my voice always sounded like i was scared shitless lol.. anyone else?
i wish i had a microphone phobia, but i can get up in front of a crowd of people and speak about anything, do standup comedy, etc.
yet, i can't cross a bridge or go under a tunnel or fly w/o having panic attacks.
i'd trade in the microphone phobia in a second.
it's so funny that people fear public speaking more than death....i wish i could trade up.
