I’m with Stacy…
I’d also have to say my Mom and Dad…or at least until I was old enough to realize they had turned into drain-bamaged JW’s …because without them, I doubt I would be around to answer this or any inconsequential question.

(no mango pickers!) ...I love it!
the governing body continues to surround itself with yes-men.
protected inside the walls of watchtower's brooklyn bethel, they have practically no contact with the real world.
which means that the aging members of the governing body have little or no contact with anyone that can offer them corrective criticism.
“…They won't collapse, just evolve.”
…Bingo! and we know this because they've been re-inventing themselves for over a hundred years.
Frankly Frankie As Farkel said years ago…”I couldn’t care less if they started sacrificing live chickens…”, and neither do I(other than the chickens), as long as they stop hurting people by using peer pressure to make “the trapped” (children and the child-like) swallow “whitewash”.
Yes, there’s now plenty of reputable information out there and it’s almost getting to the point where there’s almost no excuse for almost any adult but the disengenuous or willfully ignorant to remain and support the corporation. However, that still leave's lots of folks.

Unfortunately, the evidence of real estate acquisition paints a different picture.
These guys, over many years, have developed into better American corporate businessmen than self-proclaimed benefactors of world spiritual enlightenment.
I doubt, given the estimated net revenues generated year after year, that they give a flying fig over losing a few goof ball followers that finally got a clue, as long as the governments tax free standard of adherent population is maintained.
I also suspect the only soiling going on, is while going over the new monthly income figures, a couple of the older guys get overly excited about how much more money they’ve made the corporation this period.
ok i need some help from who ever has dealt w. their jw parents.
this is the email i got from my parents: .
dear melissa, .

hello folks, it's been awhile since i have posted, hope everyone is doing well!
i have a question, though, if the society is not paying the governing body, or other "big wigs" in ny large salaries, what would be the motivating factor for the society to continue to exist?
i am not saying that money is everything, but if none of the money is going into pockets, then the society must really feel that they are god's chosen channel, or something to that effect.
Don’t forget, there are large, secular industries such as, banks, real-estate brokers, press manufactures, the pulp and paper industry, truck manufactures, electrical utilities, etc. that have a financial interest in supporting a stable customer with a knack for acquiring a seemingly endless supply of tax-free cash.
i have been doing contract work for about four years now and i have been trying to get a permanent position for well over a year.
last week i did an interview for a job that would have been perfect.
it was even very close to where i live... within a five minute drive.. this morning i got feedback and they really liked me, but decided to go with another candidate.
Else'...any reason why you couldn't have negotiated to work for less than the other candidate was willing to work for?
After all, the more qualified candidate would most likely have a lot more to lose than you. And if the jobs are going to 'India' anyway, what more would you have to lose?

if there was one thing that affected me most was, i would have to say the time i ran into a brother (while i was still in the borg) in the downtown area.. he said "just take one year off, no meetings, no service, no assemblies, no talks, nothing, just take a break, and you will see the wathctower differently, and your mind will clear.".
at the time i just shrugged it off as a bitter jw who left, now when i look back, it was probaly the biggest thing that someone ever said to me, and he was right, 100%.. was there a saying, an occurrence or a person that just got you thinking about how ridiculous the watchtower is ??
…was there a saying, an occurrence or a person that just got you thinking about how ridiculous the Watchtower is ???
During my early twenties, out of the blue I was asked by my kind and considerate JW girlfriend from another congregation to drive her to a judicial meeting and wait for her in the Kingdom Hall parking lot until the meeting was finished.
It was my understanding that she was attending the judicial hearing (meeting) as a witness, for what reasons I didn’t ask, on behalf of another JW sister of similar age, whom she was close to, and I familiar with.
. In retrospect, the reasons for the meeting must have been serious, as far as the judicial committee was concerned because my JW girl friend entered the Kingdom Hall rather calm and collected.
I didn’t think she knew how long it would take; I certainly had no idea because at that time I had hardly ever heard of a judicial meeting or committee
After naively twiddling my thumbs and listening to the radio for what seemed like a couple of hours, my girlfriend finally came back to the car, jumped in and slammed the door.
She was visibly shaken and voiced an anger and frustration I had never experienced from her. It took several hours for her to calm down, during which there were several episodes of blue smoke directed towards the members of the judicial committee. When I think back to that day, I was completely out of my element and felt absolutely irrelevant trying to console her or understand the situation.
Although we soon parted, I understand she remained a JW longer than even I did. I suspect because of stronger family commitments.
I’m sure it had to happen sooner or later but that awkward afternoon was the defining moment which kindled the thought that there was something very unfamiliar and sinister about the guys running the social structure or arrangement we understood as, the loving, spiritual paradise of our youth.
jw's can't do this.
they can't do that.
restrictions abound.
I'd say some may have a drinking problem, but most that I know don't.
Perhaps, but to an untrained eye, how could one really know?
For example, my older brother, born a JW, and finally a teenaged baptismal corporate recruit, appeared to drink socially and “in moderation” with his JW peers from an early age and did so for many years. Until relatively recently, as the signs began to appear as subtle as a brick, we finally “discovered” or admitted to ourselves that he was an alcoholic.
Although my brother was very good at hiding his addiction, he wasn’t so good at it that if a nearly competent “congregational bureaucrat” existed, such one could’ve recognized and openly acknowledged his behavioral symptoms to recommended a more effective program be attempted.
To my knowledge, nor in retrospect, to my surprise, the latter never occurred. He was such a popular individual, in fact, many of the JW brotherhood encouraged his “fun loving” ways, mot likely not so much as to validate Jehovah’s “happy” people than to create a diversion to balance reality with WTBTS induced dissonance.
What life of his that remains today, isn’t pretty as he squandered earlier dreams and opportunities. And I doubt anyone could accuse his WTBTS employers, at any stage, of openly pondering his plight, not that it's in their corporate mandate anyway…perhaps because there just aren’t enough magazines manufactured or religious institutional real estate acquisitions yet.

i found this very interesting:.
http://www.caic.org.au/jws/organization/koreshjw.htm.
A clever, government approved corporation administering the business of God, would provide enough stimuli to convince its adherents that if they knew what was good for them, they should gladly provide free labor, purchase huge volumes of cheaply produced in-house goods at relatively huge mark-ups thus supplying a tax-free river of cash to develop more infra-structure.
In stark contrast, as the leader of the Branch Dividians, Koresh most likely believed in his own twisted religious rhetoric resulting in what appeared to me as a hugely wasteful but dramatic demise for employee and manipulated alike.
If there were any cosmic relevance guiding both types of self-important organizations it would exhibit qualities of the crass and the financially mundane. Laughable, if not for the litany of personal tragedies of loss of life and hereditary community left in their wake.
