  read the small print...(But the disposable paper cup you need to drink 'life's water' with, is 25 cents each and the price will fluctate based on the current inflation rate.)

  However as far as the WTB&TS is concerned, we expect a cash 'donation', fifty two weeks a year, every year during your tenure as a Jehovah's Witness, for every magazine or book you take from us to 'distribute'.

  After all, where you'll be going you won't need your money but interest rates are falling and our 'religious Corporation' needs to buy more real estate NOW.

  That's passing the buck back to the elders. The WTBTS put the elders in an authoritive position by appointment. It is the WTBTS's responsibility to oversee *their* flock - not the elder's seemingly sole responsibility. If the WTBTS provides the proper training (in your opinion) - they should see that it's enforced then, and take responsibility when it's not.

  Waiting,I believe the WTB&TS has already publicly denied legal responsibility for the actions of elders and officially treats elders as independents, have they not.

  Much like an "independent" Amway re-seller is legally made personally responsible for their own actions, so to are the elders of a congregation.

  Who actually is legally responsible for serious "errors of judgment", the Corporation, the elders or the individual Jehovah’s Witness, is the question that could possibly be the focus of a major legal argument.

  There’s no question I would not want to be in the shoes of a JW elder these days. The WTB&TS has way more financial clout than the lowly elder and can easily hire the better bevy of lawyers.

  Cooking the Books

  mulan and seeker4 got me thinking in the previous thread called 'what did you do first?...'..

  they both made the point that they were turning in reports when not going out on field service (tsk, tsk!

  ) and i remembered the times i 'cooked the books' a little and rounded up the figures, fiddled my time a little, counting time when it was not proper ministry.

  you are left with the idea that the WTS picked the worst possible way to spread the message.

  But a fool-proof method of trading their publications for cash by selling to captive consumers i.e. six million "publishers".

  The time card is the motivator smoke-screen...the publication cash flow records are the quantifier.

  i can't believe it's all a sham!

  remember before i was baptized, i wondered onto a hostile site and felt a sickening dread, when i confronted the sister who studied with me she reassured me that i shouldn't worry, all the stuff on those sites are written by bitter outcasts who have nothing constructive to offer, "after all", she said, ""did you ever read anything upbuilding there?

  " well, here i am baptized, back on the net 4 years later and wham!!

  I feel no anger or bitterness, and JWs are not stupid, just misdirected.

  Vienna, misdirection didn't happen on it's own. How do you feel about the WTB&TS Corporation and the direction, by those who run it, steer Jehovah's Witnesses?

  I agree that all of us should contemplate more positive issues and discuss those here more.

  Unfortunately joel, we'd have to disregard the WTB&TS as a subject and change "Jehovahs-Witness.com" as the name for the url...maybe...to something like..."Ignorethefactsaslongaseveryoneishappy.Com"

  Revealing the under-belly of the WTB&TS Corporation is a disheartening task at best.

  The discussion of which is partly made palpable because of the levity generated by many creative current and former Jehovah's Witnesses who haven't, as yet, forsaken their sense of humor.

  one newly appointed elder said: "i never realised how much work and pressure i would be under.".

  elders are pressured from the society who use the medium of the co visit as well as letters from the branch office.

  this pressure may even be termed pressurising.

  A brother giving the talk. His zipper was down. A brother in the audience was trying to surreptiously let him know it was down, Finally the brother giving the talk realizes it's down so he turns around from the audience to put his zipper up and when he turns back to face the audience he had zipped his necktie in his zipper, and couldn't standup straight.

  an awake article from the late 60s got me thinking about this subject seriously for the first time - yup i know, the awake!

  it was about two tribes of chimp on haiti (iirc).

  does any one else remember this article, or have it to hand?

I happen to think dogs can make wonderful pets and I’m feed up with your clapper-clawed insinuations when you compare the lovable canine breed to knotty-pated, pink Cadillac driving dread-bolts, who wear huge slap-mouthed floppy hats, big dark sunglass, loads of milk-livered gold jewelry and leather or fur coats over their dewberry pastel colored polyester pignut leisure suits. Who during all hours of the night tend to their ill-begotten money making stable of rump-fed hoo…hey!…wait a minute…you meant… ‘chimps’…
