So far it appears Jehovah only wants to maneuver to protect real estate, and corporate assets.

i have to respond to the letter sent to the branches from the wtb&ts.. first: the explanation from mike pence is right on the money.
i am still an active jw who was at bethel for several yrs.
and in good standing with my local congregation.

...Are you afraid of death?
No more afraid than I was prior to my conception.

i would like to know if any of you were ex-district overseers or other "heavy" men in the organization and what made you leave?
"...but my application came back stamped..."No Women Allowed!" Go figure!"
Had, it's called, "...woman must wear the invisible burqua" clause and you have no choice but to "wear" it if you wish to remain in good standing.

"watching the world" in the dec.8,01' awake carries.
a scare story about pornography.
it refers to the.
…although often I did, but did nothing about it.
Which is the very explanation why the WTBTS acts as it does.
It takes caring people to expose incongruities that allows someone to make an informed choice.

a short while back i was sitting on the doorstep enjoying a rollie when from nowhere, this thought pattern appeared in my head on the subject of friendliness and jw's.. the way i saw things was from the perspective that here you have this guy called jesus, who despite churning things up quite a bit in the first century, was in fact not a bad guy to bump into.
in fact i reckon he was pretty cool.. to strangers he gave his time, his company and support.
he got to know people on the local level and mixed without barriers to all communities of all sorts.
I could never quite understand how placing magazines and having Bible studies was better than actually helping.
Jehovah Gods son did not have the benefit of high-speed colored printing presses during the first Century, otherwise he would have published and placed the Watchtower and Awake!
The only recourse he had at his disposal was a low tech hands on approach. However, things have improved and become much more effective since His day.
If Jesus were alive today, the truth is, he, just as we do today, would marvel at the wonderful improvements the effects of his words through the mass marketing of the WTBTS have had on mankind throughout the world.
I can provide many, many examples of His blessings regarding the former but I’m the Watchtower Study conductor this Sunday and have more important things to do than explain the obvious to you morons.
PS the above is my response to the thread if I were a still a Jehovah’s Witness.

to the governing body:.
to presume you are inspired by god is paranoia,.
to presume you were spoke of in prophetic terms in the revelations is adding to scripture,.
...You who appointed yourselves as judges will be judged and fury will come with a great rushing noise.
Due to the lack of unbiased verifiable evidence that a ‘Jehovah’ faction actually exists, the ‘governing body’ are simply very good businessmen at selling the invisible.
In the mean time, the only rushing sound those who run the WTBTS will hear is, the sound of tax-free cash flowing into their corporate bank accounts earned from selling a ‘high margin’ product that’s advertised to ‘pay off’ by becoming apparent when 'God' says so.
Gosh…what a novel concept…taking advantage of the fearful and ignorant.

the wts and the un have more in common than most people care to know.
paradoxically, both have the same objectives.
the wts corporation is also affiliated with other organizations not congruous with its religious theology.
...If I said I could tender evidences to support this claim, how high is the probability that people do not want to hear it?
Oh come on Fat, your post sounds like the following fictional post, ridiculous:
"I also have information that the Coca-Cola organization has promoted their most profitable product they push all over the world as the ‘The Real Thing’! However I have it under the highest anonymous authority that it most assuredly is NOT.
Contrary to popular belief, the knowledgeable few are convinced it’s simply brown colored fuzzy sugar water, and my does this organization make a bundle o’ bucks flogging this item.
I have secreted away under my socks and underwear drawer, evidence’ (which of course for good reason cannot be scrutinized nor independently verified) of this incredible conspiracy that is so ironclad, no one is, if you can believe it, willing to pay any attention when approached either.
For this fact alone…this obviously must be the Truth that will make you free for only a small bi-monthly publication contribution as well as mandatory five meetings per week discussion and fellowship …you know…to prove your loyalty and stuff among the nicest slightly anal retentive bunch of people you’ll ever meet."

PS sarcasm for those who didn't know.
the uk charity commission lists 'the advancement of religion' as one of its 'first group charitable purposes'.. it makes the "general assumption that the advancement of religion is for the public benefit".
the advancement of religion.
for the advancement of religion to be charitable, a religion has to:.
Sorry for the length to answer a simple question--painful memories surfaced and demanded voice...
Brilliant post Bridgett. However, it’s beyond me why individuals such as your self feel the need to apologize for expressing oneself.

the dam doors were locked!
In regards to legitimate charitable works or emergency aid groups, religious or otherwise, there is a principle that is demanded of them that is, “to be seen to be doing the right thing.”
Billions of dollars of public money are being donated to these agencies and these agencies must publicly report their achievements and be independently verified in the effort “to be seen doing the right thing”. Should there be evidence of misappropriation of funds, there will be hell to pay.
Contrast this attitude of “being seen to be doing the right thing” with the attitude of the WTBTS, that it would be pretentious of us to ‘blow our on horn’ by having all of our wonderful 'charitable' achievements independently and publicly verified. Let alone broach the subject of defining the word 'charitable' based on WTBTS criteria.
Jehovah’s Witnesses have been taught to understand that public reporting of achievements by ‘charitable’ agencies is mere bragging designed as propaganda to generate an emotional response and milk the public of their hard earned money so administrators of these agencies can ‘pad’ their expense accounts.
I don’t know about anyone else but I would rather I have the chance to openly scrutinize a charitable organizations money flow and activities. Not only as a measure of efficiency but as a measure of recourse for the 'community' should their donations of time and money be taken advantage of.

Hi Miss Jones
As others have mentioned, Adventism appears to have gathered strength during the late 1830’s.
Take note of this article, which appears in the following issue of Sky & Telescope describing a significant celestial event that occurred in 1833.
http://www.skypub.com/sights/meteors/leonids/leonids_1833.html
I find the article interesting because it suggests a possible motivation for the business of apocalyptic behavior predicting the end of the world in 1840.
Historically, Jehovah’s Witnesses appear to be a ‘Johnny-come-lately’ in this regard, just in time to cash in on the hype.
