This just further reinforced my theory that bipolar women (and possibly men) are unmarriageable. You simply cannot have a decent relationship with these women. Their affect on you is a lot like a heroine. They're always at one of two extremes. One minute they will make you feel like the luckiest guy on earth. They'll be the best wife/girlfriend you could possibly imagine. Then, without warning, they'll turn on you. There is literally nothing you can say that won't set them off. They'll make you feel like the worst person in the world. It's much, much worse than menstrual moodiness. But, by the time you start thinking of leaving them, they'll start the cycle over again, and you'll question why you ever wanted to leave. That's their heroine, that's their cocaine. They keep you addicted to the good times so you don't think about how much irreversible damage the bad times have done to you. She will not get better. She will not "mellow with age."
It's a hell of a disease. They don't want to do this to you. It's just what they do. Very few people have the mental fortitude to handle it. If you didn't have any kids, I'd say leave her. Even if you do, that might be the best option. How often do you fight openly? If your kids have a fairly stable home, then it's in their best interest to provide them with that environment. If their older, it probably won't affect them as much. I was 16 when my parents separated, and it was actually a positive thing for me. I really grew as a person and probably love them both now more than when they were together, screaming at each other almost every night. Of course, my situation isn't the same as your kids, so you have to come up with something that's best for the children.

It makes you wonder though: if this is really about gas, then why didn't they do this a long time ago in Europe, where gas was over $5 a gallon for quite a while? Or, was that the arrangement in Europe? I know the administrative stuff isn't always the same in other countries.

I don't think there's anything devious or malevolent about this. It's just a smart thing to do, really. Under the current system, it's possible for a maximum of 3 congregations to share one kingdom hall. Any more than that and you have incredible meeting schedule nightmares, especially when the CO shows up. Now that meetings will only happen on two nights a week, it will be possible to have one kingdom hall host more than 3 congregations.
I think this is a good move from a logistics standpoint, everybody wins. As far as the motivations, it could be a self-serving thing on the society's part by virtue of the fact it will stimulate growth. But again, it's one night a week where dubs won't have to get themselves and their families ready, so everybody wins. I'm betting this is stemming from that report that Jehovah's Witnesses have the highest turnover rate. -

ugh... plaintive letter to return to the KH
by chickpea ingot a letter today from a really nice guy who was in the bs group that met in my home for 10+ yrs.... privy to some of the huge issues my family has faced.... smart enough guy, ubm, at least one grown kid in and married into a huge 2nd/3rd generation family, grandkids yada yada...... he saw, but did not speak to me, at the school performance i alluded to in another post........ http://www.jehovahs-witness.com/6/156961/1.ashx......... as far as i know we never even made eye contact..... it was a crowded event in an elementary school but i saw him as he and his wife arrived late and scurried for seating.
at any rate.... this is part of a letter that came in the mail today ..... i cannot believe the spin that the r&f are fed and seem to swallow down without the fava beans and nice chianti ( i do not mean to berate his heartfelt and genuinely offered plea.... i just cannot stomach the blind allegiance to the b0rg) .
i have talked to a few of the friends about what can be done to encourage you and your family and decided to simply put a few thoughts in a letter.

What an excellent reply. The fact you're happy flies in the face of everything he knows. It's really the best way to talk to JWs after you've left. It dismantles the entire idea that leaving JWs makes you sad, depressed, and down-trodden.

Is the WT banning vasectomies?
by B_Deserter ini talked to a dub friend of mine who said they had a new "it's a personal choice, but jehovah will kill you if you do it" article about vasectomies.
basically, the reasoning is supposedly that since jehovah gave us our reproductive organs, tampering with them is wrong if not medically necessary.

I don't think the "Watchtower Bible and Tract Society of Britain" is one of the official corporations of the society. I thought they were the "International Bible Students Association" there.

California JWs -- Are they different than most JWs?
by B_Deserter ini've heard stories from people multiple times about their trips to california and how they were surprised to find out how lax the witlesses out there were concerning rules, behavior.
just wondering if anyone can confirm or deny that.

Going to the Prom not allowed as a JW
by odie67 ini didnt go to my prom because it was not allowed.
i didnt even bother to ask.
i don't regret it alot, but it would be nice to have a picture or two for memory sake.

I bought into the whole "no friendship with the world" thing when I was a kid so I never really even wanted to go to my prom. I was going to college doing dual-credit by the time it came around anyway. I only actually went to class at my high school during my freshman year.
