You know what? Maybe witnesses need to take a saturday off, to catch up on some yard work, or to sleep in, or to LIVE LIFE... spend time with they're wife and kids.
You can spend time with wife and kids while out in service...didn't you know that?
my mother told me that last night's meeting was about how we all simply have to do more.
if we are asked to work on a saturday, we should know that saturday morning belongs to jehovah and that the automatic answer simply is "no, that time is set aside for jehovah.
" he said our congregation is down to 60 something publishers and we simply just can't afford to lose anymore..... he gave an example of a boy and his dad that were out hunting.

i am celebrating 20th year my sobriety and 20 yrs working on jw issues!
november is a month for about gratitudes.
a time of reflection.
Congrats OCW!
i would say one of the best things in my life is my true friends, it's nice to have someone you can tell anything too!.
beans.

I have to agree with Beans. True friends or a friend that you can tell anything to.
was it jw related?
a death?
a friendship gone bad?
Mine was health related - in the summer of 2000, ultrasounds (4 in one year and I had to "hold my water"). That's as far as I'm going for an explanation.
most witnesses believe satan and his demons are looking at them 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
were you one of those?
how did you handle stories of demons, witchcraft, etc.??
When a series of articles came out in the WT magazine in the '60's about demons, yes, I was scared. Reading all those experiences of people harassed by the demons. I was afraid to go to bed at night, or take a bath and I was a teenager!!
i run into sister k. at her office sometimes.
everytime i do we 'get into it' about how awful things are in the.
organization.
When your life is a hell on earth it's pretty hard to let go of the idea that any day now ALL of your problems will be solved through the destruction of this system of things at Armegeddon. It's also hard to see the forest for the trees. It's hard to see or accept sometimes that many of these problems you have are caused directly or indirectly by being a JW.

"if you are a young person, you need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things.
because all the evidence in fulfillment of bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years... therefore, as a young person, you will never fufill any career that this system offers.
I was a young person in 1969--4 years out of high school, "temporary pioneering" and working part time trying to figure out what I was going to do with the rest of my life.
I do have to say though that this year, 2003, has given me a new lease on life because of someone special from my young teen years; my health has improved and I look forward to an interesting future if everything turns out like I hope it does.
the most useless work a jw can do is preach!
the watchtower society said that every baptized person, whether they be male or female, child or adult, is a minister!
and the society says every minister must do a "life-saving work" and "preach the good news of the kingdom".
I like to think, Scooby, that being a good witness means speaking about what we personally have seen or heard. I think of Jesus' conversation with the woman at the well, a friendly back-and-forth discussion, while going about their daily chores, had more meaning and impact. What affected the woman more was that Jesus understood her. This means a more intense involvement with ordinary people than a magazine sales pitch.
I wholeheartedly agree!!!

No question, this time, Scoob!.....Most JW's I know of are more concerned about getting their time in than they are "saving lives". Of course, what they're doing (or not doing) is not going to save anyone's life.
I agree....and it's the society that makes them think that turning in time is the most important -- so of course that's what they are going to put as a priority.
just what is with ex-dubs these days?
wait, please amend that.

Mindchild,
Please keep posting regularly. I understand and agree with this thread you started. I may not have responded to a lot of your posts, but I enjoy ALL of them.
I think the x-jws who seem to be "feral" as some used to even admit, come from many backgrounds, environments, lifestyles, attitudes, etc. which makes them the way they are and maybe they fit in the org, when they were witnesses, but now that they are out, they don't know how to handle themselves, IMHO.
