through the means of educational tv (such as the simpsons), i have always thought that a sufferer from tourettes syndrome cussed and swore for most of his waking life.. however, just a few moments ago, i encountered this in thursdays the times:.
manchester united expect to complete the acquisition of tim howard, the american goalkeeper who suffers from tourettes syndrome, within a fortnight.

There is medication for this syndrome, and cursing is not its only symptom. I have seen, in this case, a woman who had Tourette's sitting in a restuarant and about every 90 seconds to two minutes, she would let out a hoot that would make any owl proud. And I mean it was rattling the dishes in this place. Tourette's has a very wide range of symptoms, but the cursing at the top of one's lungs is perhaps the most interesing manifestation so that's why so many seem to think it's the only one. As has been pointed out, WTF is the deal that makes the writer point out this tangential point? what does it have to do with soccer? It would make as much sense to point out that the guy "dresses left" or something just as inane.
European footballers! I'll never understand 'em.

That last post dredges up a question. If JWs are so spiritually strong, so spiritually right, so spiritually all-knowing, then why are they afraid of a little bit of exposure to anything non-JW? like their families who are now out of the truth being a spiritual endangerment. This makes no sense AT ALL.
The WTBTS obviously doesn't trust their own superior teachings, they must not believe the accuracy of the attitude that "if it's not from god it will fail, if it is from god there's nothing you can do about it anyway." I vote for the position that the GB knows full well their so-called "theology" is, as we say in cooking, a crock.
If the dynamic we see between the GB and the publishers were reduced to a one-on-one relationship the former would be accused of lack of trust, jealousy, and the latter would be characterized as a co-dependant, an enabler, spineless and blind. The relationship would be characterized as dysfunctional.
