what hortensia and jgnat said. You go girl! He sounds like a tool - witness or not. Once you are past the hard part, I reckon you will know it was worth the effort. Definitely do some planning first though (bank, lawyer etc)

Power of "Awake" article on Window Cleaning =Thousands of Witness Washer!
by Witness 007 inw.w.c {witness window cleaners} i was one for three years.
started from scratch, taught by another witness window cleaner...we had 4 in our hall.
i never knew why there were so many, till i found an awake article about employment which recommends geting a bucket and starting to clean windows!

The window cleaners were out numbered by roof tilers in my congs! Same deal I guess as window cleaners only harder but more money And yes - I did my stint as a window cleaner. Kinda comes in handy when doing my own windows but glad I am now in I.T.
I agree - it's not a bad job at all - but a waste of potential if people wanted to do something else and could have been good at it but found themselves doing it to preach the word of jehoober

Women being in subjection...a sore subject
by milligal ini was raised jw and of course the whole theory that a man is the head and the woman must respect her husband and be in subjection to his authority was ingrained in me from a young age.
my mother, (oddly enough) chose the jw religion, dragged my father in kicking and screaming (he later served as an elder for 17 years) and she complained constantly about men being in control and her pains as a woman in subjection.
now, i already have a good idea about my mother's problems.

Why my wife would never have been a JW!!! I'd would have liked to have seen an elder try this crap on her. He'd end up in the back room lying in a pool of his own blood...

getting over it - how long does that take?
by Switch inin december i started reading things and thinking with an open mind (for the first time in my life).
i'm still discovering things daily that irritate me about the wts.
i've been to about half a dozen meetings since march.

I'm still pissed - when I think about it - mainly because I can't convince my remaining family that it is a load of bulls#$t and then the years they made me feel guilty about everything. I think it will come up in conversation with me and all my friends that have left (quite a lot!) for a long while yet...
