if you use Biblehub.com, there is access to a Greek interlinear and Strongs concordance where every word in the bible has a dictionary meaning.
You can see where they have made the changes, also look at col 1:20 where they have changed the meaning all together.
When I was waking I found so so many places where they "tweak" the text and change the wording to suit their doctrine.

it may not be obivious to the untrained eye, but i notice it and i know my sons notice it.

I was lucky enough to come out together but this is how I would handle it, it is how we have handled family and some are slowly forgetting we are tainted. (we are not DF'd just faded)
Treat her like an abuse victim - she is getting emotionally and mentally abused at every meeting.
My advice is to show her real love and real joy. Find things you can do together so she can feel that there is happiness separate from the borg. I know this can be difficult but if you have no "agenda".
Learn new things also, there are documentaries that are about other religions or history that might help her slowly realize also that you can do for fun instead of "here you need to see this". We were waking but watched a movie called Luther, I think it is youtube but that was really eye opening about the opposition Martin Luther faced.

not one to get all controversial.. typical situation, pretty much a born in and left the church at age 38 and never looked back.. i'm 53 now, parents getting older - late 70s but very active, dad is still an elder.. parents, in laws, brother and brother-in-law still uber active jws.. my family (wife and 2 adult children) out since 2005.. we have stayed close to our parents - we have treaded religion lightly and have had a pretty good relationship and have kept our personal lives and beliefs/opinions separated from them.
this was intentional - as we love them and do not want anything to cause shunning since they are getting older and want to be there for them and we respect their beliefs.. got this letter today.

My in-laws love the same one way conversation- no interest in you "please don't reply".
It is part of the emotional retardation that happens with that religion.
I honestly feel sorry for them, they are so screwed up by that religion that they cannot communicate as a normal person. I mean what is "family business". How about family connection and love?
My wife has struggled for a few years with this sort of BS. We are finding peace through not expecting them to act as normal parents, we have other people now who are our friends and confidants, we have some very special older friends who fill the role of unconditional loving parents.
Removing that expectation from the real parents actually has helped us find peace and continue a stunted one sided by respectful relationship.

Here is a different point of view - but I had the good fortune of my wife waking me up so I cannot speak from experience. But I was an elder of 13 years before I faded.
If you can emotionally handle it meet with them. Use this situation to expose how nasty these bastards are by letting them mistreat you - of course stand up for yourself though. This may get your wife thinking. You sound like a really good guy and if she sees the injustice she just might start seeing things for what they are.
On another point - a great way to get your wife thinking is to watch documentaries about other faiths - there is a good one about people escaping the Exclusive Brethren and another one about the Mormons. Of course witnesses love a good expose of another faith but if she watches it she will see they have the same structure as the witnesses and could help her start to think.

Yep, I was not DF'd but lost all of my friends except 2 or 3 because we moved away and stopped going to meetings.
Not 1 has ever reached out as a friend to see if I was ok.
Having said that I have found so much real love "out there" in the world.

probably not a popular opinion on here....and haven't been actively attending meetings since 1988....(i know i know a submarine attender) however thoroughly enjoyed attending this evening...was good to see lots of people i remember whilst growing up in this faith, they were genuine and the whole atmosphere was one of love.
sure if i suddenly wanted to become active again and didn't change my lifestyle they would drop me like a bomb.....however i haven't and won't and they didn't and don't.

Just coz it works for you, think about all of the broken families, victims of child abuse and the trail of destruction that this religion leaves in so many lives.
I think you are talking about the poor victims (who are still in) and perhaps you saw them and realized there are a lot of good people, however when you are talking about the religion as an organization, I can see no good only harm, and division.
I am out and not DF'd. I still see my family but I can also see the affect on their thinking ability and manipulation.
