What Do You Do for Work / Career?
by BlackPearl ini've been on the board for quite a while now and was wondering, what do my fellow jwdr's do for work, employment or career?
me, i'm in probably one of the most hated careers in america right now.
(not gonna tell you what it is either) but how about you, what do you do to earn a little coin?.

mutual respect
by Hortensia indid you ever notice that people who want "mutual respect" or "compromise" or "consensus" or "discussion" really just want you to shut up and listen to them?
they don't really want any of those things; they just want to put the other person in the wrong for disagreeing.
if they really wanted a "discussion," they'd have the courtesy to reply to comments, rather than just do a hit and run sermon.

Shunning of ex JW family members imposed or optional?
by greendawn insome supportes of the jws argue that the wts does not impose on its followers to shun and disgrace ex jw family members, it leaves them the option to decide on the issue and some shun and others do not.
is that an honest arguments or is it like the blood issue where the wts supposedly doesn't impose on its members the decision to refuse blood?
for all we know the non shunning of ex jw family members except for absolutely necessary contact could lead a jw to dfing.

my father is a PO and didnt shun my brother, sister or myself. (a mix of df, da, and straight out apostacy) most of the other jws in the congregation had no problem warmly greeting me when i attended my grandmothers funeral. it pissed me off so much that after staying in the cult for years after i realized it was crap there was none of the threatened shunning. i should have left sooner.

Do you like where you live?
by R.F. ini live in the southern united states.
i'm not too fond of the state i'm in but i'm within close driving distance of some very cool places.
the people in the south are awesome, very hospitable.

i grew up in canada (excellent schools, horrible health care, insane taxes) moved to england (excellent pubs and people, now a police state) moved to detroit (wicked music/night life, guns) then manhattan (super cool, expensive) and now southern california (unbelievable weather, stinky facist hippies). next stop...central america (super inexpensive, narco-gangs)! everywhere has its coolness and its downside.

cant remember where i read it (so much apostacy, so little remaining ram) but she claimed in the divorce proceedings that charlie was caught in inappropriate activity with a young (hot?) bible student they had taken into their home. i also foggily remember that she attempted to take over the society for a brief period and eventually started her own doomsday cult, er, religion.

ive only been diving for six years but love it. my last dive was two years ago in tulum mexico. i dove the cenotes with the brother of a friend of mine who lives down there and spends his time exploring and mapping places no one has ever seen before. it was wild!!!! the most intense thing ive ever done really. you are forced to be completely zen because there is no light, no way out, no air pockets and nothing but rock above and below. we dove a well travelled cenote that he could dive in his sleep and about twenty minutes in we swim by a sign written in spanish (which i dont speak) with the number 30 and a graphic of the grim reaper on it. we dont even pause. when we surface i ask him what it said and he informs me that it was a warning that 30 divers including instructors have died in there and that there is nothing cool enough past the sign to risk your life over! and like i said we swam right by it! i highly recommend diving there!

for some reason this didnt show up on my post: ive noticed that some of the posters on this site are still active members of the wtbts. this is a question for them. after reading about the recent cash settlement paid to make the child molestation lawsuit go away, how do you feel about YOUR contributions being used to pay for the cover up? will you still make cash contributions at the hall knowing now what they are used for? are you still willing to finacially support an organization that is in the middle of such a sinful scandal?
