Did you ever feel let down by the Bethel tour?
by maninthemiddle inreading jeff's thread about dress made me think of my one and only trip to bethel.. i can't remember if i was babtised at the time, but i went with a bus load of jws.. like someone said in the last thread, printing presses and empty rooms.
i was very disapointed, however i don't think i had any pre-concieved notions of what it would be like.
what i was diapointed in was so much of the "tour" was walking hallways looking at exhibits behind glass.

Totally disappointed. Tour is totally overrated. It was four day tour...after the morning of day 1 I felt as if I had seen enough.

One, I think Americans are way too passive. Americans talk under their breaths, vote and then talk under their breaths again. Want change? Then do something otherwise vote and then talk under your breath. I've lived in countries where when folks were not happy they forced the government to change through boycotts, stand-ins and sit-ins. Oh wait, we used to do that too. Americans are to afraid of losing their creature comforts to stir things up.
That having been said, I think Obama is doing the best he can with the hand he was dealt. I would love to see Michelle run but I know its not going to happen.
Second, I'm currently not a Palin fan but love her chutzpah!
Third, I'm seriously thinking about running for public office.

by wobble inmany on here are keen to hide their identity, me included, i don't want to be df'd and many of the views i express on here would be enough for most jc's to df me sine die.. anyone reading on here who knows me a little more than vaguely could work out who i am, my list of cars i have owned for example, on another thread.. but what could they do ?.
i know they could make a case, and then as happened to a young sister in a neighbouring congo.
say they would investigate why the bro.

If you've ever lived in a third world country or traveled the globe extensively with an open-mind and heart, it becomes obviously apparent that most of what you have been taught regarding the biblical history and pending destruction of mankind by any religion (JWs in particular) is either illogical and/or not the actions of a loving God.

Close Encounters of the JW Kind...
by Jim_TX inthis morning (like many other mornings) i went to the local 'stop-n-shop' to get my wife a pint - of milk.
she likes to drink a bit of milk during the day.. anyway, on my way back to the vehicle - as i got in and was reaching for the key to start it up... an elderly lady (well... probably about my age - sheesh!
) with grey hair, approached my car with a handfull of magazines - and said something along the lines of.... 'pardon me sir,...'.

This is really pissing me off!!! My family is divided over this crap religion.
Will someone please send them a dictionary and explain "generation"? Joseph and his brothers were viewed as one generation not because they were contemporaries but because they were offspring that are at the same stage of descent from a common ancestor.
And if I hear my sister tell me that we just need to "wait on Jehovah" or "that the brothers will take care of it", you may just see dear Shopaholic on the evening news.

If I were in, this video would have made me pause and think twice.
The part that struck me the most was when Tim said to ask yourself how you would respond to the new generation logic if this were any other religion. If more JWs took an objective look at the religion or with the scrutiny they apply to other religions, the membership would probably go down by half.
BTW...327?!!!! Way to go!

Its something about hearing it as part of a discourse to be delivered to thousands of people at one sitting that makes this seems so absurd that folks should get up and walk out.
Unfortunately, most of them will be sleep and will wake up only for the applause of the new DVD. Most will never even know this is what they are suppose to believe.
