From an early age I remember thinking that there was something wrong with the history part. There was this huge gap from early christians to jw's....The 144,000 only going to heaven was always cause of embarassment to even try to explain. I mean, why??? is that number out of all the numbers that are symbolic, taken literally? The generation flip flop as well......But I always managed to push those "doubts" to the side, thinking that this was a really great community, blah, blah, blah....In the end it was a co's talk about humbleness that just was the last straw. I guess I am too proud for the organization...I guess I finally got tired of the "you're not doing enough" spiel...Lack of love is what did the trick..I probably would have just stayed for the social part, since my WHOLE network were jw's...but I took a good look at what all those years of belittling had done to me and I stood up and thought "I will NEVER do this to my kids!".. Walked out in middle of co's talk and never walked into a hall again. That was more than three years ago!

When did a lightbulb first go off in your head that something didn't seem right???
by cognac ini was about 4 or 5 years old.

This is frustrating
by bluecanary ini'm filling out an application to volunteer with big sisters.
they want references.
specifically: "please type or print information requested for three references that are non-family members who have known you well on a personal basis for at least two years.

1914 coverup has begun
by hamsterbait ini spoke to an elderly sister, 94, who is deteriorating rapidly.
she honestly believed she would never die.. obviously she is desperate to deny to herself that the cult she allowed to steal her one and only life a second at a time is still true.. "the generation change is just like 1975 - we were sifted.
we were being tested as to who was serving jehovah for a date and those with unbreakable trust in the organisation he has appointed.".

Call me ignorant, but I can't say I've ever heard of the Catholics predicting a date for the end of the world.....You should give more info to back up your conclusions....Add some links or something, because it's difficult for me to believe something just because you said so.

Is it naive to believe that you will always be faithful to your partner?
by nicolaou ini was told i was naive for saying that i'd never cheat - ever.
but i meant it honestly.
i guess my question is, can it happen to anyone?
-

Of course you are able to be faithful. But you have to learn to control the circumstances. I mean usually cheating is many wrong decisions leading to that fatal decision. Don't be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Don't be flirtatious if you are already in a serious relationship. That kind of thing. Fidelity is a willed action. You can accomplish it but you must never think you are beyond temptation because you are so "saintly or good" that you would never do such a thing. That`s just commiting the the ultimate sin of thinking you are more righteous than someone else.

therapist says affairs can help some/my marriage....really...
by oompa inwell that took me back a bit...but since i have led a double life since third grade...i have become the master of compartmentalizing...and since my exit and since it is now not just to my parents (as a youth)...but now having to do it to my hardcore jw wife....well...it just gets frikkin easier and easier...i now think i am becoming capable of stuff i would have never dreamed of...this is scary.... i have decided i can afford it financially though i dread this at 47, since this is the second time i would lose half my assets....crap...and my wife is a wonderful lady!...hot even!...but i so want to grow and be totally free...damm the costs are so high...why cant i be content with a non-nagging jw wife?????.
oh...and basically it seems that if certain needs (not just sex!
) need to be met...and your mate will never know...than it can help your marriage continue with no bad side effects???

I just had to deal with this. I´m not married but I cheated on my long distance boyfriend. I don`t recommend doing it at all, even if no one finds out. The guilt that you have to deal with is beyond belief and just the rottenness you feel inside is completely soul shattering. I had never done it before and now of course I regret it so much. I did end of telling my boyfriend and of course we are no longer together. But that's really not the point. You will have to live with yourself and having hurt someone that didn`t deserve it for the rest of your life.

Promiscuous or sexually free?
by brunnhilde inso i'm 37 and i've only been with one man, my ex-husband, in my entire life.
i just started a new relationship with a wonderful man but i'm fighting the preprogramming that comes from being a dub for 35 years.
how have other people overcome the inhibitions and issues that come from the ridiculously rigid sexual mindset of the wtbs?

I have to admit to trying things in a committed and non committed relationship and I prefer the latter....Sorry, the othe just leaves me feeling empty...But that´s me...I think you should do what makes you comfortable...If you are ready to take the plunge then, don´t pressure yourself or let anyone else pressure you into doing something you aren´t ready....It´s very hard not to get emotionally attached IMO when you have been taught that sex is something that is done within a marraige or something very serious...

The Path to Love
by Farkel ini don't often recommend books to read in this forum, and this is an exception.
"the path to love" was written by deepak chopra.
i've read a half dozen of his books and i know others in here are also familiar with his work.

I will have to read this book. It looks interesting. I read Chpras book for parents. I don´t remember the name right now, but it was excellent and he things that he says to teach hildren are 100% better than any watchtower advice i´ve ever gotten. I really like the way he looks at things.

Any other exhausted moms out there?
by milligal ini have three kids, the youngest are 3 and five months.
i was wondering if there are any other moms out there who don't get much sleep or time alone.
how do you stay happy?

I have three kids..The littlest is three. I really have my oldest children well trained and they are pretty independent and I enjoy their company most of the time. But the littlest absolutely drives me nuts and I wonder if i´ll ever enjoy raising her. I´m tired. I work full time and then come to whining crying stuck to me three year old. I share custody so on every other weekend I escape my house and go to a friends...But I wonder if it´s good or bad because then I really resent having my littlest and not being able to do things. Anyways, thanks for letting me vent. Find a good babysitter and try to talk to other moms in the same boat. It always helps to have someone who listens and understands how hard it is.

Pledge of Allegiance
by Princess Daisy Boo insouth africa is considering bringing in a "pledge" that kids in school will repeat each day.
we never had such a thing as kids growing up, but when the national anthem was sung, we always had to stay seated and not participate.
i remember always hearing about flag saluting in other countries.

the pledge is just another scheme in the entire educational system in the u.s. to convince americans that they live in the best country on earth with the best opportunities, etc.........It should be mandatory for all americans to travel outside their bubble so that they can see a variety of political systems and ways of living. I think it would be extremely eye opening for many. Especially for those who sit on thier sofas and are spoon fed the "world news" as it´s depicted on CNN.
