  There are several codependence discussion groups on Yahoo that I have been part of in the past. But I left because they ended up as nothing more than a vehicle for perpetuating codependent behaviors. Some were even cult-like in their approach. They simply would not tolerate anything other than what Codependents-Anonymous or Al-Anon teaches.

  i never thought i would say this but it was almost a safe, comfort, to be able to define myself as an df'd exjw who is just muddling through life until the new system comes and destroys me along with all the other wicked people.

  This piece was just posted on my Empowered Recovery discussion group. It came at just the right time for me--I needed it. I thought I would share it with all of you, my friends.

  New beginnings....
  One of the best things
  we can do in our lives is this:
  begin again...
  
  Begin to see yourself
  as you were when you were the happiest
  and strongest you've ever been...
  
  Begin to remember
  what worked for you and what worked against you,
  and try to recapture the magic again!
  
  Begin to remember
  how natural it was when you were a child...
  to live a lifetime each day...
  
  Begin to forget the baggage
  you have carried with you for years...
  the problems that don't matter anymore,
  the tears that cried themselves away,
  and the worries that are going to wash away
  on the shore of tomorrow's "NEW BEGINNINGS"...
  
  Tomorrow tells us it will be there
  every new day of our lives;
  and if we will be wise we will turn away
  from the problems of the past
  and give the 'future' and 'ourselves'

  Practice of JW concerning Facial Hair

  im relatively new to the board, but i wanted other people's opinions.. growing up in "the organization" i pretty much blindly adhered to all instruction as a teenager.. as i got a little older, as most here im sure, i began to see how some practices were imposed on the flock without any biblical backing.. one that bugged the living hell out of me was the restriction of being allowed to grow facial hair.. i was literally removed from carrying the mics and reading at bookstudy because my sideburns were too long and i wanted to grow a goatee, hence i often showed up with stubble.

  i was taken to the back room and told i was being "too worldly.

  " when i questioned the elders why it was unallowed by the society and that i wanted scriptural evidence and backing for their imposed regulations, i was scoffed at and told i should do as i am told.. i told them where they could stick their "priviledges" .

  hello..new to the board, though i have lurked for a while.

  this is surprising because just a few months ago it would have been unthinkable.

  if some even thought that i hinted in this direction, ....i dont even want to try and explain the repercussions.

  Hi Axelspeed and welcome.

  Many of us can relate to what you are feeling. Many of us wrestled with the same "identity crisis" when coming out. Many of us have lost most of those dear to us.

  But you hit on something that helped me make my decision:

  To live not being true to myself I think would be harder.

  I decided that it was far more important for me to be true to myself and live my life as I see fit and what's more, this is the right of every human being. My story is at the link below.

  Worried about my Dad in hospital :(

  we visited angharad's parents at the weekend and got a call on sunday night from her sister who'd been called by my sister as they hadn't been able to contact us .... the message was not a happy one:.

  my dad has had a heart attack and was in intensive care in hospital.. it was a while before i managed to speak to anyone over there with people probably out but i eventually spoke to his wife who says he's doing ok and has now been moved to the main ward but is being kept in as you would expect.

  he may have to be moved to calgary for some investigation / tests.. he had heart surgery about 15 years ago and i think 4 of his 5 bypasses have failed so he has to take quite a bit of medicine for pain and stuff.

  I too hope everything goes well for your dad. My thoughts are with you. My dad recently had a quad bypass, and must get some more heart work done in January.

  I'M A NEWBIE! My story...

  i just came across this site not too long ago and have been reading the stories.

  i am filled with relief and at the same time frustration mixed with tears, because i have been holding my story in and not sharing it with anyone, except my husband.

  i have felt many of the feelings expressed here but was afraid to say them out loud for fear of being an 'apostate'.

  of interest to me is if i move back 70 years from 1914 i am getting the year 1844 which was a known date for the end of the world.. times .... 1844 + 70 years + 70 years + 7 years + 7 years.

  so we have the year 1998 ad finally.

  but what happens if we split the 70 weeks as daniel 9.25 shows we may extend time !!!.

  Difficulty of serving on Judicial Committee

  My biggest problem with serving on judicial committees was dealing with other elders who didn't have a clue about the human condition, not always, but several times.

  I was never on a committee that DF'd anyone. I'm still undecided as to whether that was a good thing or not.

  We Had Dinner w/Venice & Her Parents Tonight

  tonight, tracy and i met venice and her parents for the first time, and had dinner.

  they were very nice people and we really enjoyed getting to know them.. we talked about a lot of things, one of which was doing an apost-o-fest in florida sometime.. thanks to you venice and folks for spending time with us!.
