It's become a nightly thing for me to have a sprite and a couple of pieces of peanut butter toast with apple butter. Not exactly a special treat, but I enjoy it.

My dad used to bring home a computer that he and some coworkers put together from kits that were available for purchase from ads in the back of early computer magazines. It resembled the old TRS-80 in form and function but probably didn't have as much memory. His coworkers were just getting their feet wet with the old BASIC language and used to program games that were listed line by line in the mags. When they found a game they liked and wanted to keep they hooked up a cassette player to the computer and recorded the program onto a tape. Eventually, they started sharing these tapes around the various offices from around the country. Once, when it was our turn to have the computer checked out to our house he brought a tape of a program someone had sent to his office called 'Lode Runner'. I know there have been many different versions of that game since but that early one hooked me hard into computer games. I must have spent hours making that simple little pixel man run up and down ladders trying to avoid getting stuck and trying to get the ascii piles of gold. Good times.

Defender, Galaga and Dragon's Lair. Man, if I only had all the quarters in my pocket that I put into those machines, I wouldn't be able to walk.

Well, let's see. First the earth cooled. And then the dinosaurs came, but they got too big and fat, so they all died and they turned into oil. And then the Arabs came and they bought Mercedes Benzes. And Prince Charles started wearing all of Lady Di's clothes. I couldn't believe it.
Howdy Drew, welcome back.

RisingEagle, do you need an intervention?
Sorry, I couldn't hear you, I have the Carpenter's playing in the background. Up next is 'Cracklin Rose' by Neil Diamond. I am so weak!
My wife is an enabler - she took me to a Bad Company concert about 8 years ago. They were opening for Billy Squire.

I have a question
by Jeannie33 ini am a nondenominational christian and i was wondering how jehovah's witnesses view god regarding his providence.
do they believe that he is in control of the ongoings of earth and with our life at all times or sometimes or not at all?
do they feel god knows the number of our days and takes us when it is time to go?

Jeannie,
The witnesses schedule (unless they changed) a 'bible reading' assignment each week and are supposed to read it in advance of one of their meetings each week. They would make it all the way through the bible every couple of years. However, whatever reading of the scriptures they did was spun along the lines of the teachings of the f&ds. They are discouraged from reading the bible without the aid of the 'slave's' books or magazines.
Someone smarter than me posted on this board that (and I'm paraphrasing like crazy so I'm not sure of the exact numbers) the witnesses use 2% of the scriptures 98% of the time and 98% of the bible 2% of the time. Having been raised in the religion I would agree with that.

Bad70'sgroupitis can tear families apart and alienate you from society. Don't be a victim, get help.
Good advice but, alas, we were afflicted to late. The disease ended up getting four from our family, my wife, her parents and me. It was so subtle an attack we didn't see it coming. We were given free tickets to 'Movin' out' based on the music of Billy Joel and it escalated to us scoring tickets to 'Mamma Mia!'. I'm so ashamed that we would get so drawn in by such an insidious group of musicians. It all came crashing down at the end of the season when we were shamelessly trying to cop tickets to 'Celtic Woman'. The celts may not be a 70's group but it shows how far one can spiral when the madness gets into you.

Satan would like to thank all of you for giving him his due.
Tell her the Eagles said, "Howdy".
You also might mention the horns are a little overdone. Pan did it first, while imitation is a form of flattery, horns are so, well, old. Like three millennium old. Tell her to try a nice hat. But nothing orange! It wouldn't compliment her complexion.

Your young man has a very large brain between his ears! To me that means his mom has done a wonderful job!
One thing you might bring up if it ever comes into a discussion again is while it is true the jw's never started a war they spend a lot of time pointing accusing fingers at those that may have the ability to prevent them. They claim to be no part of the world but never have anything constructive to print or say about any party. It's kind of like they're watching a schoolyard fight and being asked who they want to win. The jw bystander would say "Neither, one of them is stupid and the other one is ugly." That's a horrible analogy I know, but the morning coffee has yet to kick in.
