I’ve never worked at Bethel, I only visited once. I can’t answer all your questions but I will make an attempt that what I know.
how do the members of the gb carryout their everyday tasks
A. ??where do they live, how comfortable do the live
A. They live right there at the headquarters. It’s my understanding that there accommodations are comfortable but not elaborate.how do the people at bethel regard them , how much power do they have?
A. Not sure on the first part. As for power, the GB has absolute power but it’s a different matter with individual members.what are the requirements for joining the governing body?
A. Must be one of the ‘anointed’ and be ‘in’ with the existing body. The GB appoints all members to the GBwhat do they do for fun?[seriously of course]
A. They travel pretty much where they want to at the expense of the brothers. Otherwise????how did they get where they are?
A. They were appointed by the GBdid people appoint them?
A. See abovehow much of their own money do they do they contribute?
[that is if they have their own money of course]
A. They have to take a vow of poverty and divest themselves of all personal wealth. So, technically, they have no money.a previous post stated that they dont worry about
transportation but can someone be more specific?
A. They are provided with transportation. The Society owns a fleet of cars and other vehicles, including jets, I am told.do they have their own drivers? do they ride in limmos.
A. ??do they travel first class only do they have a pivate jet?
A. See above
what happens when they die? who replaces them?
A. They go straight to heaven and the remaining ones appoint another one!how the hell do people let them
LIVE LIKE gods
at their own expense?
A. Like Gods??? I don't know about that but here's another question: How do people let Kings live like kings at their own expense??? -

Path is probably right. This will, in all probability, be an exercise in futility...BUT for your own peace of mind you probably should go through with it.
My suggestion is this: Don't ask him to read a book. I wouldn't. Don't ask him to go to a website and read what someone else has to say about the witnesses. I wouldn't have. Make up a list of what you, personally, feel is wrong with the Society. Be specific and put everything down that you can think of. Eventually your list will be far too long. Stop and go over it again and choose just a few things you feel that you are really prepared to discuss.
Don't be adversarial. Let your father speak also. Approach this not so much to prove your father wrong but rather as an effort to allow him to explain to you what you cannot reconcile. Don't get angry if you can't agree on a point. After a while, try to mutually agree to move on to something else before either one gets angry. Don't be afraid to concede a point if you feel that he has made his argument. Remember that: NOT ALL ACCUSATIONS AGAINST THE SOCIETY ARE LEGITIMATE. Don't generalize and make all encompassing statements like: All elders are power mongers! No one in the organization has any real love! Stick to things that can be discussed.
You can e-mail me if you would like some examples.

Good question. I was convinced that they were evil people who knew better but were driven to cause damage to God’s congregation.
1 Cor 10:21: “YOU cannot be drinking the cup of Jehovah and the cup of demons; YOU cannot be partaking of “the table of Jehovah” and the table of demons.”
1 Tim 1:19-20: “holding faith and a good conscience, which some have thrust aside and have experienced shipwreck concerning [their] faith. 20 Hy·me·nae'us and Alexander belong to these, and I have handed them over to Satan that they may be taught by discipline not to blaspheme.”
2 Tim 2: 17,18: “holding faith and a good conscience, which some have thrust aside and have experienced shipwreck concerning [their] faith. 20 Hy·me·nae'us and Alexander belong to these, and I have handed them over to Satan that they may be taught by discipline not to blaspheme.”Interesting comment from W99 7/15 p. 17
:::They deny that the end of this wicked system of things is near and criticize the spiritually alert slave class for maintaining a sense of urgency among Jehovah’s people. (Isaiah 1:3) Such apostates succeed in “subverting the faith of some,” inducing spiritual shipwreck.:::Note: I wonder what the penalty is for saying that the end is near when it’s not?

Thank you, Marilyn and Puffs.
Between: I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your grandmother. So many wonderful people have died and continue to do so. I cannot accept that such a terrible waste is going on continually. I have every hope that you will see her again. I know how you feel about having your grandparents back again… btw, I like your quote.Marilyn: I’m sorry to hear that about your mother as well. I was with my mother when the doctor told her she had lung cancer. I regret not spending more time with her at the end of her life. We grew apart after my father died. I regret not being more supportive of her as she struggled to raise five kids. I was just a stupid kid myself at the time but I now regret not having tried harder to understand her when her world came crashing down around her.
Carmel: You need more sunlight, old friend.
Sadie: “Just when I think I have my life straightened out...something comes along and messes it up” I know that feeling as well.
“Not paying much attention in school” Same here. I never took it seriously, after all what was the point? The end was imminent.
Big: I wasn’t around my father until I was about nine or ten. He worked long hard days and so even then I saw little of him. I miss not knowing him better.
Noidea: You’re not giving us much detail here. Maybe I know how you feel:
If this life is all there be
Then it would have served some else better than me
If it be a prelude to things yet to come
I will endure the wait, the wait for homeButalbee: Amen!

waiting, Audrey, Ana, thank you kindly, ladies. Thank you for taking the time to stop and share those words with me. If the scales of life are to balance in the end, if those words of John penned so long ago that God will one day wipe the tears from our eyes and give us joy without grief then there are those of us who shall truly know ecstasy without end. There is so much sadness in this world, there much surely be at least that much happiness that we have yet to reach.

What Could Have Been
by mikepence insometimes, i try to be sad.. as the sun sets low, turning the rugged hills of arizona into soft, purple, fuzzy-looking rumpled cones, dappled in the red-orange reflections of failing sunlight, i stand upon a hill.
i try to reflect on what could have been.. i could have been part of a family that was close -- a family that hugged, laughed and cried together, always.
a family that strove not to take everything personally, but to see that even our attacks, especially our attacks, are projections of our own insecurities.

Hello, mike.
We do what we can, what we feel we must. In the end we're judged by those who have no idea of what we have been through for the choices we make. I suppose it makes them feel good to presume to know what is best for others when they are so lost when it comes to their own lives. Live long and prosper.
