When my parent's postman, a lay minister, found out, he told him that "he could save his soul for a $10,000 donation."
Lisa,
I guess the only thing that he really wanted to 'lay' was his hands on that money!
Brian
just an fyi sort of thing.
someone at work, her aunt and uncle in their 60s, won the $36 million dollar lottery in california a couple of weeks ago!

Good one, Kenpodragon!
Speaking of "Get Smart" - I managed to watch a few episodes on TV Land a week or so ago. I absolutely loved the show when I was a kidlet, but it just didn't seem as funny now. Maybe I just saw two very average episodes, because I remember the whole thing being a laugh riot.

well, i weighed myself and i gained the famous college 15 & some.. i thought of joining weight watchers but i don't like their idea of meeting once a week.
(i'm so tired of meetings!
) they have an online weight loss program.
Lew,
Yeah, they've decided that I need to take Lipitor to try and lower the cholesterol. Like you, I despise taking pills so I'm not relishing the thought of adding still more capsules to my daily regimen. Still, combine my triglyceride level with the fact that I've got diabetes and I'm a walking advertisement for a stroke or heart attack...I guess I'll go ahead and take the pills.
In retrospect, I guess it's a good thing I went to the doctor last week. I honestly just went in for a checkup regarding my diabetes medication when they decided to do some bloodwork to check liver function. I have been feeling sort of sluggish and lethargic for a few weeks...maybe that's why.
A few weeks back I bought one of those joggable CD players so that I could walk and listen to music. You know, to motivate myself. I've been using the CD player, but I haven't set out walking once yet. I actually think I'm gonna dig my old bicycle out of the shed, dust her off and take a few laps around the neighborhood.
Yeah, right.

I'd love to do this, Cappucino. Just heard back the results of some blood work on Friday and it wasn't good - Cholesterol level is at 329 and my triglycerides are at 548! I didn't even know they could get that high.
Needless to say, I've got to do something about this. I've been overweight for some time now, but I need some weight loss 'buddies' and hate the idea of going to Weight Watcher's or something like that. Too much like the Witnesses. LOL!
I'm here all the time, so why not have a weight loss forum. Sounds like a good idea to me!

i am interested in ray franz.
can anybody comment on him?
i've heard rumors, but partial ones from jw's.
Though I had been out of 'the troof' for several years before reading Crisis of Conscience, after having read it I no longer agonized over my decision. Seeing in print the sins of the organization allowed me to understand for the first time that they were not the spirit-directed group I had always believed them to be. If any spirit governs them, then it is the spirit of man.
Recently, I pointed someone else to the book. After having read the entire thing, they attempted to discredit it. Their reasoning? That they couldn't believe that he would have kept copies of all of that information. Apparently, denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

ok......fess up....who's got em and who wants em?
i myself have two tattoos ( i will post pics of them later tonight).
i have one on my shoulder - it the face of a cat, i call it my egyptian cat because the face is very concise.
Growing up the way that I did, I always felt like I missed out on my rebellious period. I've always wanted to make up for that by getting something pierced. Sadly, I don't think I'd look too good showing up at the office with an earring now at 30 years old. ::sigh::

something that always puzzled me as i grew up a witness was where those in mainstream christianity gained the notion that mary magadalene had been a prostitute.
no amount of independent study that i did ever turned up anything to back up the allegation.
does anyone know where such information comes from?

Does anyone know where such information comes from? Sorry if this has been discussed before, but I did a quick search and didn't find anything. I've also searched the 'net and haven't been able to come up with anything definitive.

the dilemma facing apostate jehovahs witnesses, or apostate dubs, as i have dubbed them, (no pun intended) is the very fact of their seeming success.
one of the great ironies of the apostate movement, that presumptuously boasts of "know the truth about the truth," is that apostates themselves are bound by the watchtower's own interpretive shortcomings, and hence are massively ignorant of jehovahs judicial decisions regarding his organization.
in that the presumption in operation is that if enough scandal and error can be brought to light regarding the governing body, the watchtower society's teachings, as well as individual jehovah's witnesses, then that somehow means that jehovah's witnesses have no connection with jehovah god.
It funnie..I always open one of You Know's posts with full intention of actually reading it. But then it opens and I realize that it is all long-winded and I only get through the first couple sentences.
Spice,
And here I thought that I was the only one.
