Spanking WT in Benton KY

well we did it, 45 people were present for the first candle light vigil for silentlambs around the world.

holly and heather berry were there along with many other victims who told stories, sung songs, and recited poems that were self composed to help them deal with abuse issues.

there were many touching moments where you could feel the heartbreak and pain suffered by the expressions made.

Do you think that Bill or any silentlamb would have to resort to such public measures is the WTBTS had listened in the first place. Think about it...these people are putting a lot on the line...do you think they would be going to such lengths to be heard if the WTBTS had responded to there more "discreat" pleas for help? You are only seeing the tip of the iceburg...they have been trying to get the WTBS to not just hear them but listen to them for years. They have been getting louder and louder and louder, and now finally since the WTBTS would NOT listen...the world will.

Watchtower CD

i believe the watchtower has all "watchtower" and "awake" from the beginning available on cd-rom.

how can i get hold of one and can we be sure that entries have not been changed to suit todays teachings - ala "big brother" and the "ministry of truth"?

i would love to get a copy of this... any suggestions?

actually it's not that hard...call brooklin and ask for one...tell them you are doing your own research (cause they will first tell you to ask for one at your KH)and they will send you one. Worked for me.

I learned new info about the UN and the WTS

yesterday i had the chance to visit with reborn and he graciously shared some of his research with me.

out of all the things that he presented one of the most shocking for me was the wts involvment with the un.. i had been previously aware that the wts was registered for 10 years as an ngo.

however they made the claim that they were not aware that one of the requirements of being an ngo was that they needed to publish information that cast a favorable light on the un.

Would dearly love to present this to her...(I actually had found all that info. monthes ago too.)....however the "apostate sheilds" are to strong for my "free thought" torpedos. Now whenever I bring anything even REMOTELY sounding apostate all I get is "hmm...that's nice". It does me little good to try and explain anything..(even non JW related)..to her. Her father was VERY abusive (all 3 forms) and when ever I start to sound like an "authority" of any type I can almost see the picture of her father sliding down in front of me. How ever someone else (female) can tell her the same exact thing I did and and she comes to me going "hey you know what I heard?". Thank god she is now (3 weeks) in couseling and at least acknowledges the fact that she does this. Little by little....I shall be patient.

I got into an interesting discussion one time on this. The witness idea is that there is no eternal suffering in hell because of the second death thing. How can you be suffering when your dead?

I was talking with an elder from my wifes KH about this. My reply to this is;

In the bible (don't recall which scripture) it is said that sin is dead to god (or something to that effect). This does not mean that sin does not exist...just that god chooses to see the good in people rather than the bad. Now, it does say "this is the second death" AND that those not saved will burn for eternity in the lake of fire. My conclusion from all of this is that yes indeed the sinners will be in the lake of fire and the second death part, is that you will be dead to god just as sin is dead to god. How can there be "eternal suffering" otherwise.

I also told him that I had a buddy in High school that was an athiest. He said that even if there was a god the idea of "slavery" to him was disgusting. So going by this logic...what the WT teaches would be perfect for him. He gets just exactly what he wants...where is the eternal punishment?

Well this elder said "that's an interesting veiw, I have not heard that before". Then he said "look at what this passage says", and went on to something totally off the subject. I instantly caught on to the old trick but just did not have the strength to pursue it. Besides I made my point.

what do you guys think?

When I told my wife about it she said she did not believe it. I showed her the article and she said "Anyone can wite an article..it does not mean it's true"...(wish she would use some of that logic while reading her WT)...anyway..I said fine...lets call them and ask. I got the Broklen phone # and then called. I had my wife on the other phone. I got transfered about 5 times (began to wonder if I called my cable company by mistake) and finally got someone willing to talk. He confermed the article and gave the reason of library card. After the call my wife said see they had a good reason. I told her that if I was a JW I would be PISSED. It's like your mother telling you not to be getting involved with this boy you like because he is a bad influence. Then you come home early one day and find her in bed with him!! Again she said "they had a good reason".

I need help/info on other religions vs the WTS

over the past week since i've announced that i was stepping down i have had a few conversations with my family, and against my better judgement i mentioned that i was having doubts.

invariably almost every discussion about the jw religion eventually boils down to the argument that only witnesses are doing this or that.

unfortunately this is a weak part of my debate, i have only been associated with the jw religion so i have very little information on what other religions beleive and practice.

possibly the reason they are the only ones teaching these things is that there wrong? My dad has an expression that I think is relevent;

If one person calls you and a##hole you can ingnore it. If 20 people call you an a##hole, well better start buying stock in a toilet paper company.

I think it relates in this manner...if the WT is the only one teaching these things out of countless others...well how much stock are you willing to buy?

hey...I dont know if this really applies or not.

how ever...on 9-11..(yea I know...just hear me out)

I live in Oregon ...3 hour diff from New York. On that day I had to be at work at 7:00 am. I did not have a car so I had to bus it. Since it is over an hour bus ride I would get up at about 4:30, get ready and leave around 5:45 or so. Well that morning my alarm did not go off (or I turned it off in my sleep). I remember very clearly what time I got up because I was pissed that I was going to be late for work....6:03...the exact time the second plane hit in New York. I set all my clocks in the house by the atomic clock in boulder (really rather anal about it I don't know why). All I remember is being jolted awake at exactly 6:03 and feeling frantic. I rushed out of the house and caught the bus...half asleep and just not feeling "right"...then on the bus I heard from someone what had happened. Later I learned the time line and was a little freaked. As far a dreams...well I haven't been able to remember my dreams for years....but I do often wake up in the middle of the night with a deep feeling of dread....the news of the day often echo's those feelings.

god almighty is just that, all mighty.. he knows the end from the beginning because he planned and executed the beginning all the way through to the end.. and 9-11-2001 was only the beginning.. god almighty is not what you pretend him to be: sugar and spice and everything nice.. we are all, satan inclusive, very tiny, naive and foolish children.

and we are going to be moved from our fairy tale suppositions of god, to the harsh reality that he is a real force in each and every single persons life.
