New Crop of C.O.'s - Charismatic or Company Men?
by Confucious injust a fun discussion thread here.. when i first was involved in the wt - probably early 90's.... all the c.o.
's were really charismatic men.. i know part of it was that the wt gave the men a lot of leway on their talks.
pretty much they can use their speaking talents.. i mean, some of the c.o.

Moshe nailed it:
The problem is, that what the WT prints is not equal to what they are.
I am praying for you

Blood
by Aleman ini am getting away for a moment from congacs forum to talk about what i have reaserched about the blood topic.. blood is composed of a liquid called blood plasma and blood cells suspended within the plasma.
the blood cells present in blood are red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets.plasma is predominantly water containing dissolved proteins, salts and many other substances; and makes up about 55% of blood by volume.
by far the most abundant cells in blood are red blood cells.

Many felt the things you do at one time.
Please contact your nearest University, College, or Community College that has a nursing program. Please inquire about watching the teaching videos for intravenous administration. When you watch the video please pay close attention to what the instructor calls a "flash". Once you review the video and fully understand within the JW Blood doctrine and the consequences ask yourself why this has not been addressed as it is a clear violation of all current blood partaking beliefs. Know this too that the WTS is fully aware of the medical procedure but as failed to warn those who want to keep clean before Jehovah. The question then is WHY?

Will there ever be a leadership coup at Watchtower headquarters?
by Must obey! ini doubt it very much, at least not in the foreseeable future.
but what are your thoughts?
could you ever see it happening and under what circumstances & when?

I think it far more plausible that the legal department will reason with the remaining GB once Ted is dead and no longer the Alpha. Why coup when you can woo?
But it would be highly entertaining if the corporation ditched the leaders of the organization!

What does your first name mean? Does it say who you are?
by restrangled ini am ripping off a topic from someone else.

OMG! I am not making this up!!!! My full name reads according to the website link:
Christian Born Again Son of Man
Well Yes I do still profess myself Christian, confused still on the whole "born-again" and technically I am the daughter of a man. But this was cute and fun! -

Did the word "persecution" scare you as a kid?
by journey-on ini remember imagining being tied up and my fingernails pulled out one by one and somebody screaming at me to denounce jehovah?
anybody else go through this?

Nope I was taught a "bring-it on" attitude toward Satan. But I too was warned about the fingernails and other Nazi era tactics.

FIREPHIM revisited for all the new ones
by seven006 inyesterday i got a call from one of my exjw friends.
during our conversation (which usually are centered around the watchtower printing company) i asked her if she had read a post i wrote several years ago here on jwd about the group called firephim.
firephim was a corporation that was established by represenitives of the watchtower corp, the scientologist, the raelians (a ufo cult), the moonies, the children of god church (the sex cult) as well as a few other cults.

2nd AA meeting. Would value opinions
by digderidoo ini went to my 2nd aa meeting last night and came away with doubts as to whether this would work for me, so would value peoples opinion especially those who attend aa.. there were one or two there that were quite evangelical, which obviously works for them.
also within the program there is alot of emphasis on god or a higher power.
for many this higher power is the group itself, yet for some it is god.. i spoke to someone sitting by me about this who said that to make sobriety sometimes you have to fake it and go along with the god thing.. at the end of meetings there is a short prayer which i do not want to take part in.

Well then I guess he wasn't an alcoholic by your standards but the AA person swore up and down he was. He has been drinking in moderation (no drunkeness, and not daily) for 11 years now. We found most of the reasons he turned to alcohol had to do with not being able to handle his feelings. He had some traumatic experiences and being a male was not given the tools or space/ acceptance to deal with the implications. He found it socially acceptable in the male community to use alcohol to mask all kinds of things. Before counseling he drank daily, if alone to the point of losing time, he would show signs of physical dependence if he didn't have a drink. He did have some withdrawl but the medication helped take the edge off. We approached it like quitting cigarettes, less and less and less. The new coping skill is what gave him empowerment to overcome. My dad too was diagnosed as an alcoholic, actually he was more of a weekly binge drinker, this approach also helped him. One size doesn't fit all. I do agree there are those who exhibit addictive "personalities" but a behaviorist would agree that changes to the environment, modifying stimulus etc will yield effects. We did consult a behaviorial specialist as part of the counseling.
If this is truly a disease then there are different treatment methods. I would more liken this to type 2 diabetes if it is a disease.

Ridiculous comments re: new meeting time and reduced public talk.
by truthseeker inmy hall shares with 2 other congregations.
we went from an early morning 10am start to 4pm.. the elder giving the local needs part asks us the benefits of a later public talk/wt study, here are a sample of stupid, typically dub comments:.
1) we have more time for field service.

Sunday FS?
Sure we left a tract at the table with the tip and some in the bathrooms of the restuarant we all ate at after the Sunday meeting. Maybe someone stopped by the Laundry Mat or put some on the newspaper stands, but actual knocking...NO that would cause too much uproar in the community.
